The Strongest Magician of Gods
Chapter 29: The Attack
Mo Bei rode alone, skimming past the city walls, and galloped to the horizon.
Ancient trees tower outside the city gate, and a gravel path winds through the quiet forest, with dense ancient trees standing side by side.
These ancient trees are enormous, with trunks as thick as four buckets, and massive roots crisscrossing above their foundations.
Judging from their appearance alone, these ancient trees have been growing for hundreds of years.
This forest stretches for more than twenty miles, connecting Austin to a remote town via a deep and quiet gravel road.
Mo Bei rode his magic broom, his feet just inches off the ground. From a distance, it looked as if he were gliding across the ground. Gusts of wind blew his long hair on both sides. Occasionally, when he passed a corner, Mo Bei would turn around and disappear into the intersection in an extremely stylish manner.
The magic broom is so fast that as soon as you slightly circulate the magic power in your body, the magic power is poured into the wooden body of the magic broom, and it is as if a spirit is awakening in the wooden body.
In the ancient world of magic, ordinary magic brooms and magic wands used by magicians are forged from inexpensive spirit wood. Magic wands forged from spirit wood have a simple structure and are extremely practical. The key is that they are not very expensive. For example, the magic broom that Mo Bei is riding at this moment belongs to this level of magic weapon, which is classified as a low-grade weapon.
Magic wands and all magical weapons are divided into five grades: low-grade, medium-grade, high-grade, fine-grade, and top-grade.
The magic wand used by Mo Bei was only a mid-grade magic wand, made of a much better material than spirit wood, and crafted from underground ore.
If mid-grade magical weapons are used by high-level mages, then high-grade magical weapons are not something ordinary people can see. The materials of high-grade weapons are relatively rare. Some are made by fusing the bones left behind by the death of exotic beasts with underground minerals, while some high-grade magical weapons are transformed into powerful weapons by infusing the essence blood of extremely powerful beasts on the original basis. The characteristics of these magical weapons are mostly that they are exceptionally hard and have a great effect on casting magic.
As for high-grade magical weapons, they are probably rarely recorded in ancient books, as they involve too many interests.
Mo Bei sped along the sand and gravel, a journey that normally takes about half an hour to cross this deep path.
"Hiss hiss"
But at this moment, as Mo Bei sped along the gravel road, his speed gradually decreased without him realizing it.
"Strange, something feels off. I had a restless feeling on the way here, but on the way back, that feeling of unease has become much stronger."
Mo Bei whispered, his pupils wide open as he scanned his surroundings, a sense of crisis constantly flickering in his heart.
The sense of crisis came suddenly. Mo Bei hadn't paid much attention to it before, just taking it as an intuition born from being overly vigilant when he first arrived, like someone walking alone at night always feeling like someone is watching him from behind.
The biggest obstacle to this mysterious feeling is one's own psychological defenses, but under such intense scrutiny, Mo Bei ultimately succumbed.
"What's wrong with me? I tried to shake it off, but the intense stimulation didn't subside. As I moved forward, that feeling only grew stronger."
Mo Bei controlled the magic broom and brought it to a stop on a quiet path. The surrounding area was dense forest, with many tall and thick ancient trees blocking out the light from the sky. From time to time, a strange sound would come from the gaps between the trees.
"quack"
In the woods, two or three black crows were startled and flew away, flapping their wings and leaping into the depths of the dense forest, knocking down tender leaves and branches.
"Swish"
Immediately afterwards, a series of commotions came from the dense forest.
"Could there really be an enemy attack?!"
Mo Bei became alert, especially the commotion coming from the forest, which made him extremely uneasy.
"Hoo"
Mo Bei rolled over, flames erupting from his abdomen, and in an instant, the magic broom was once again stored in the magic fountain.
The best solution at this point would of course be to ride the magic broom and continue running away, but Mo Bei vaguely felt that this was even more dangerous, and after some thought, he decided to temporarily withdraw.
"Deng deng deng"
Mo Bei walked step by step toward the endless gravel path, his aura constantly on high alert, preventing him from being distracted.
This world is too bizarre, containing the widely circulated stories of werewolves and vampires from the Western Middle Ages. It also has witches, elves, and even dragons.
He himself was a high-level mage, and in the face of such a powerful mage, his inner defenses were still broken by the sudden sense of crisis. Mo Bei was thoughtful but dared not make any rash judgments.
"Who is it? I have seen you. Do not try to disguise yourself in front of a high-ranking mage."
In the quiet, deep silence, what a terrifying scene it was. Mo Bei felt as if he were speaking to a demon, the atmosphere filled with greed and bloodlust.
A rustling sound came from the woods again.
"That terrible feeling intensified again."
A chill ran down Mo Bei's spine, and his arm trembled slightly in the silent forest. He vaguely sensed a terrifying aura permeating the space.
"Swish"
A series of running sounds suddenly rushed from in front of Mo Bei, causing a large number of branches and leaves to shake violently.
With a loud "boom," a gleaming black claw emerged from among the dense leaves.
"not good"
Mo Bei was startled for a moment. His frightened voice filled the quiet space, and his heart pounded violently.
In that instant, a gleaming black claw was so close to him that it almost pierced his face.
Mo Bei was so scared he almost lost his mind.
"Hoo"
Mo Bei picked up his magic wand, flipped backward a few steps, and a fierce burst of fire shot out from the wand, a fireball the size of a fist was flung out of the wand.
"Basic Magic - Fireball"
Mo Bei's body was wreathed in flames, and with a flick of his magic wand, a fist-sized crimson fireball was launched.
He was terrified; if he hadn't dodged in time, he might have died there.
"boom"
The fireball, scorching hot, slammed into the black claw between several leaves, instantly igniting the nearby branches with its intense heat.
"What exactly is that thing? It's too dangerous."
Mo Bei was still shaken, her eyes fixed on him, her magic wand poised to strike at any moment.
"Wow"
The swirling green leaves resembled a giant, ferocious monster running through the dense forest, charging towards him; the sound was terrifying.
Closer, closer! The ferocious beast dodged Mo Bei's fireball spell, its claws and teeth sharp.
With a "bang," a huge black shadow suddenly emerged from the dense foliage, causing Mo Bei to tremble.
"Meow meow"
A black wildcat emerged from the dense foliage in front of Mo Bei. The little wildcat was quite cute and much larger than a typical domestic cat. It bared its teeth, growled fiercely, and stared indifferently at Mo Bei.
"A little stray cat?" Mo Bei exclaimed in surprise, his expression flustered and embarrassed.
Mo Bei took a few steps forward, and the little wildcat slowly retreated half of its body into the dense forest behind it, leaving only its head sticking out.
"You dead cat, you almost scared the crap out of me."
Mo Bei took a few more steps forward, stomped his foot hard, and the little wildcat trembled, then disappeared into the dense forest without looking back, leaving a great commotion.
"Luckily no one saw it, hehe."
After this fright, my guard was momentarily distracted, and I broke out in a cold sweat, but the crisis was over.
Mo Bei turned around, his smile returning to his face.
But at that moment, a pair of fierce eyes stared intently at him from behind. It was a huge, dark creature, hidden under the dense foliage, calmly waiting for the moment its prey would lower its guard.
It waited for this moment, and in its fierce and bloodthirsty eyes flowed a trace of human emotion—a kind of pleasure in killing.
"boom"
The black figure crashed into an ancient tree, and its massive body leaped up to the top of Mo Bei's head.
The thick smell of blood and the foul odor of the ferocious beast filled Mo Bei's nostrils.
Mo Bei's eyes were bloodshot; he had heard the commotion behind him.
"Boom"
Mo Bei was violently slammed away by a tremendous force, his bones cracking and blood gushing from between his teeth.
With a "bang".
Mo Bei crashed heavily to the ground.
"whoosh"
A huge black shadow appeared in front of him, and its massive beast legs stepped on Mo Bei's left arm.
"what"
Mo Bei let out a painful roar, and only then did he see the true face of this monster.
