Online Game: Unrivaled Gods
Chapter 3: The Birth of Lü Bu
Global Hope is the first live-action simulation game where each region is divided into different historical battlefields. In the early stages of the game, cross-border warfare is not allowed. Each player can only develop within their own region. For example, China is based on the Three Kingdoms period, Europe on the Classical period, and so on. Each player can develop their power, compete with the natives for supremacy, join a faction to become a general, or be a commoner. It is a highly free and unrestricted game.
When Sun Rui saw that the public beta test would start at 10 p.m., he checked his watch and it was almost 10 p.m. So he took out his virtual gaming bracelet and put it on his wrist. A dialog box popped up on his virtual terminal asking if he wanted to connect to "Global Hope".
After confirming, Sun Rui lay down on his bed, looked at the countdown in front of him, felt his eyelids getting heavier and heavier, and slowly fell asleep.
Sun Rui's consciousness grew increasingly heavy, as if he had entered a certain space, surrounded by a vast expanse of white, with nothing in sight.
"Welcome to Global Hope, where you can unlock the souls of characters belonging to three different regions."
Before Sun Rui could react, a chilling, indifferent voice appeared. As the indifferent voice appeared, things began to appear around Sun Rui, including stone pillars. Each stone pillar was carved with different patterns, including birds and beasts, ancient people holding sacrifices, and savages eating raw meat and drinking blood.
Although Sun Rui was very curious about how these stone pillars looked so real, he still quickly asked the question he really wanted to know.
"Ah...ah..." Just as he was about to ask a question, he suddenly felt that his throat could make a sound, but because he hadn't spoken for a long time, he could only make the basic sound "ah" for the time being.
"Um, I heard that the virtual currency in this game can be exchanged for real currency, is that right?" After speaking for the first time in four years, Sun Rui was very excited. Although he acted like he didn't care in real life, he cared a lot deep down. He hadn't realized this care in real life, but now that he had regained it, he understood.
"Yes, virtual currency can be converted into real currency, but you need to find a buyer to exchange it, so as to ensure that the value of real currency does not depreciate."
The indifferent voice answered Sun Rui's question in a programmed manner.
"Great, then send me into the game."
After receiving a lukewarm affirmation, Sun Rui became even more excited.
“游戏规则1人物死亡后所有一切清零从新开始,并且禁止游戏一个月。规则2防骚扰设置,未经异性同意,过分接触将接受到系统惩罚。规则3玩家游戏时间为22:00-4:00规则4游戏与现实时间比例4:1,细节规则请自行摸索。”
Just as the indifferent voice was explaining the rules, the stone pillars around Sun Rui emitted a faint silver glow, and slowly a silver light gate as tall as a person appeared in front of Sun Rui. Sun Rui curiously poked at the light gate and received a system notification.
"System notification: Player has not yet created a character and cannot enter 'Global Hope'."
"Please select your place of birth."
"Bingzhou, please."
Sun Rui hadn't specifically studied the history of the Three Kingdoms, and didn't know which one was better, so he just picked one randomly.
Just as Sun Rui was creating the character, leaders from all over the world gathered together.
"We can begin," an elderly man with silver hair announced.
"Yes, sir." The soldier behind the old man saluted and walked outside.
"Will it succeed? Will there be any problems?" A middle-aged man with a small mustache sat next to the silver-haired old man and asked worriedly in Japanese.
"Don't worry, this is the last chance. After today, there won't be another such good opportunity," a blond young man answered the question in English.
Please confirm the person's name.
"make money"
Sun Rui chose a name that suited his purpose and felt quite satisfied, but after waiting for a long time, he still didn't hear that indifferent voice appear.
"Are you still there? I've already chosen a name, why aren't you answering?"
Sun Rui's voice echoed in the space, but there was no reply.
"Whoosh."
A silver light gate suddenly appeared in front of Sun Rui, pulling him in instantly. The moment he entered the gate, Sun Rui fainted.
"Reporting to the commander, the attempt to seize the position has failed."
"As expected, we still can't compete."
"From now on, everyone will have to rely on their own abilities."
"How many people are in the game right now?"
"Due to the program, there are currently only 1149 game players."
"No one died, right?"
"No."
"Hmm." Sun Rui woke up groggily, only to find himself naked and still the size of an infant.
"Madam, how is it?"
Before Sun Rui could react, the door to the room was pushed open, and a tall, muscular man in a blue military uniform entered.
"My lord, our child's birth is quite strange. Not only did the umbilical cord sever on its own, but his eyes are bright and his fists are clenched tightly," said the person holding Sun Rui.
"Excellent! My son is truly divine. A strange event occurred in our territory at the time of his birth, foretelling that he is no ordinary child!" The man in military uniform appeared very pleased.
"Then, my husband, please name our child."
“My son was born on cloth, so let him be named Lü Bu.”
"Player names himself Lü Bu, character generated."
"Lu Bu, what's going on? Isn't this just a game? How can he become a historical general?" Sun Rui, held in someone's arms, wondered, but wasn't too shocked. After all, he was making money by playing games, so he didn't care about this.
"Bu'er, you must grow up healthy. Your mother doesn't ask you to achieve great things, you just need to grow up happily." A gentle voice entered Sun Rui's ears. Sun Rui suddenly looked up at the person holding him, and his nose tingled with emotion. Sun Rui hadn't felt this way in a long time.
The woman holding Sun Rui was pretty and had a scholarly air about her. Her hair was a little disheveled, and her face showed signs of fatigue, but she still radiated happiness, as if she were holding the world's most precious treasure.
Sun Rui felt a lump in his throat, not for any other reason than the woman's expression, which reminded him of his mother.
Sun Rui felt very safe in the woman's arms, and then... nothing more happened. Sun Rui fell asleep peacefully.
Sun Rui woke up at 4 a.m. Although he had woken up a few times in the game, he couldn't do anything as a baby. Apart from eating a little food, he hadn't done anything else. However, Sun Rui was quite satisfied. He had been at peace all night, staying by his mother's side in the game. This peaceful feeling made him feel very comfortable.
"This game is really good..." Sun Rui thought to himself.
Afterwards, Sun Rui resumed his daily life, selling pancakes at his stall, tidying up the house, cooking dinner, and waiting for his sister to come home.
A major event occurred today. With the launch of "Global Hope" last night and the testimony of over 1000 players, the internet has exploded.
The world's first live-action simulation game, with a map 1000 times the size of Earth, beautiful scenery, 100% realism, and absolute safety—these gimmicks have led to a global buying frenzy for virtual bracelets.
In a villa, a woman wearing a short-sleeved top and jeans, showcasing her graceful figure, pouts on her fair face.
"You got off easy, you greedy devil, hmph."
"Achoo." Sun Rui, who had just finished making dinner, rubbed his nose, thinking that he had accidentally caught a cold. (A mute person can sneeze.)
Sun Rui, who was wondering if he had caught a cold, heard the sound of keys ringing outside the door and knew that his sister had returned.
"squeak."
The door opened, and a girl wearing a baggy junior high school uniform entered. Because the uniform was too big, the girl's figure was not visible. Her jet-black hair was styled into a single ponytail, and her small oval face with bright eyes and white teeth made her look elegant and refined. Her skin was so smooth and fair that it dazzled Sun Rui. No matter how many times he saw her, he would marvel at how amazing genes are and even wonder if they were siblings. It's true that girls change a lot as they grow up, and they become more and more beautiful.
Sun Rui thought of the ugly duckling who used to run around behind him and need his protection when she was little, who had now grown into a proud swan. Sun Rui felt very proud; all his hard work over the past few years hadn't been in vain. He looked at his younger sister with a gratified gaze.
Her lips, as red as rouge, parted slightly and uttered a sentence.
"Can you stop looking at me like that?"
The beautiful and refined girl frowned slightly, looking very unhappy.
"Xiaoxin, you're back. Hurry up and wash your hands and eat. I've already prepared the meal."
Sun Rui wasn't upset when he heard what his sister Sun Xin said; he just grinned and gestured with sign language.
Sun Xin ignored Sun Rui and walked into her room with her proud, fair neck held high. Sun Rui was used to this situation, shook his head, and turned to sit back on the sofa in the living room.
More than ten minutes later, Sun Xin came out of her room. She had changed out of her school uniform and into a white dress. After washing up in the bathroom, she sat down opposite Sun Rui, and the two began their dinner.
The moonlight shone softly outside the window, and a few stars could be seen occasionally. All around was quiet. The house felt especially quiet in this situation, with only the sound of their bowls and chopsticks breaking the silence. Sun Rui didn't feel awkward; he was used to this.
After the two finished their meal and cleared the table, Sun Rui sat on the sofa and began browsing the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which he had just downloaded that day, on his virtual terminal. Although Sun Rui knew some of the stories, he was not very clear about the details.
Sun Xin sat opposite him, holding her textbook. It was unclear whether she was previewing tomorrow's lessons or reviewing them. Gradually, Sun Rui's attention was drawn into the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and time passed by unnoticed.
When Sun Rui saw the Three Heroes fighting Lü Bu, he felt a gaze on him. Knowing it was Sun Xin's gaze, he withdrew his virtual terminal and looked at Sun Xin.
