Chapter 54 Getting closer

Seeing his powerful performance, Ito Sawa gained some understanding of his strength.

So he decided to stay and try to get closer to Professor Uchida in order to ease the atmosphere and perhaps even get some extra information or benefits.

He approached Professor Uchida with a respectful and sincere attitude: "Professor Uchida, we are truly sorry for causing you trouble. We promise that this will not happen again."

A scrutinizing look appeared in Mr. Uchida's eyes as he sized up Ito Sawa, seemingly trying to determine his true intentions.

Ito Sawa continued, "We truly respect you and the library's rules. If there's anything we can do to make up for today's mistake, we're willing to do it."

Professor Uchida's expression softened slightly. He looked at Ito Sawa, seemingly considering his suggestion. He slowly said, "If you really want to make amends, then you must truly respect the library's rules and protect every piece of knowledge here."

Ito Sawa nodded in understanding: "We will, Professor Uchida. We will be more careful to ensure there will be no more vandalism of the library. But for this mistake, we hope you can give us a chance to make amends."

Mr. Uchida looked at Ito Sawa and the other two, a thoughtful look flashing in his eyes.

He knew that although these young people sometimes caused trouble, they were not bad at heart, and he genuinely wanted to increase the number of book lovers.

So he decided to give them a chance, which was also a test.

"Since you're so sincere, I'll give you a chance to make amends. The library does need some organizing recently, and you can help me organize these books."

Upon hearing the suggestion, Ichinose immediately offered to help. It was her nature to always be helpful, and she deeply understood the importance of order in the library for a conducive learning environment.

“Mr. Uchida, we would be happy to help. Organizing the books is also our responsibility.”

Shiina readily agreed; she has a gentle personality and a deep love for books.

For her, being able to organize these precious intellectual treasures by hand is a true pleasure.

She quickly nodded and said, "Ms. Uchida, I'm also willing to help. It's an honor to participate in the tidying up."

Although Ito Sawa wasn't particularly enthusiastic about organizing the books, he knew it was an opportunity to build a good relationship with Professor Uchida, so he chimed in, "I'm happy to help too."

Mr. Uchida looked at the three of them and nodded in satisfaction.

He began assigning tasks, telling them which bookshelves needed organizing and which books needed archiving.

Ichinose moved nimbly between the bookshelves, putting the books back in their proper places according to their numbers and categories.

Her movements were gentle and meticulous, ensuring that each book was handled properly, her face showing a focused expression as if each book were a precious work of art.

Shiina was the same; her love for books made her extra careful during the sorting process.

She would carefully brush the dust off the books, check for any damage to the spines, and then put them back in their original places.

Although she moved slowly, she arranged each book meticulously, and her eyes shone with respect and love for knowledge.

Ito Sawa moved between the two, not as skilled as Ichinose and Shiina, but he diligently learned and helped. He frequently asked Uchida-sensei questions about book classification, while also observing the library's layout and the location of special books.

During the process of organizing, they encountered books that appeared randomly. These books were not in the regular catalogue, and it seemed that only Professor Uchida knew of their existence.

Mr. Uchida handled the books himself, his movements swift and skillful as he collected them all.

Ito Sawa noticed that these books were placed on a seemingly ordinary bookshelf.

The bookshelf didn't have any special markings, but after Ms. Uchida finished organizing the books, she gently pushed the bookshelf, and it slowly moved and eventually disappeared into the bookshelf.

Ito Sawa's eyes widened; he realized that this bookshelf must have some kind of mechanism.

As Mr. Uchida watched their busy figures, a sense of satisfaction welled up in his heart.

He knew that through this experience, these young people would not only learn book organization skills, but also gain a deeper understanding of the importance of respecting knowledge.

For Itō Sawa, this was also an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the library's secrets, especially the randomly appearing books, under the supervision of Professor Uchida.

His intuition told him that these books must be very important.

After tidying up the books, order was restored in the library. Ito Sawa took the opportunity to express his idea to Professor Uchida: "Professor Uchida, I am very interested in those special books. I wonder if I can borrow them?"

After pondering for a while, Mr. Uchida quickly agreed.

The knowledge contained in these books is certainly valuable, but the reason he put them in the library was that he hoped this knowledge could be read and learned by more people, so he had no reason to refuse.

Finally, he nodded and agreed to Itosawa's request, but he also put forward his own conditions: "I can allow you to read these books, but only under my supervision. In exchange, I can get you whichever one you want directly, so you don't have to go through the trouble of searching for it."

When Ito Sawa heard about Uchida-sensei's conditions, he was overjoyed, knowing that this was a rare opportunity.

He replied respectfully, "Thank you very much, Professor Uchida. I will read these books carefully under your guidance."

Ichinose wasn't particularly interested in these unusual books, but she was curious about what Class A wanted to know. She asked Uchida-sensei, "Uchida-sensei, can I look at them too?"

During the conversation just now, she had already asked the teacher's name, and now she was even directly acting coquettishly towards him.

Shiina also showed great interest in these books: "Uchida-sensei, I'm also very interested in these books. Can we read them together?"

Ms. Uchida glanced at Ichinose, who was acting coquettishly, and then at Shiina, whose eyes revealed a love for knowledge. She felt quite relieved: "Alright, you can read together too. But the same conditions apply: you must read under my supervision, and only when I'm in the library."

Upon hearing Uchida-sensei's reply, Shiina smiled with delight: "Thank you, Uchida-sensei. I will cherish this opportunity."

Ichinose smiled, a hint of joy in her eyes, "Thank you, Uchida-sensei."
