Chapter 44 The Competition with the Teacher
During their afternoon swimming lesson, Ito Sawa and Ichinose entered the swimming pool with all the equipment they had bought at the convenience store at noon.
They were stunned by the scene before them; the swimming pool was completely different from what they had seen last time. Teacher Yasuda had used his water-based supernatural abilities to renovate the swimming pool.
Upon entering the swimming pool, the first thing that catches the eye is a shimmering pool, its surface as calm as a mirror, reflecting the magnificent lights from the ceiling.
The pool's perimeter has been transformed into a mini underwater world, with various aquatic plants and decorations swaying gracefully in the water, giving the feeling of being in an aquarium. The pool's edge is no longer plain tiles, but has been transformed into a smooth, rippled water shape, as if the water's movement has been permanently frozen at the edge.
On either side of the pool, two small fountains are spouting clear jets of water that dance in the air, forming beautiful arcs before gracefully falling back into the water with a pleasant splashing sound.
On one side of the pool, several small waterfalls cascade down the surrounding walls, the water crashing against the ground and splashing up countless sparkling droplets.
Ito Sawa and Ichinose stared in astonishment at everything. They hadn't expected that Yasuda-sensei could create such a luxurious and dreamlike swimming pool using water-based supernatural abilities. Every corner of the pool was full of surprises, and every detail revealed Yasuda-sensei's exquisite control over water and his unique understanding of beauty.
"This is incredible!" Ichinose exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with admiration for the swimming pool.
Ito Sawa nodded, his eyes revealing his admiration for Yasuda-sensei's abilities: "Yasuda-sensei's abilities are truly eye-opening."
Together with their classmates, they changed into their swimsuits, ready to swim freely in this dreamlike swimming pool. The water in the pool was warm and comfortable, and the water was crystal clear. Everyone could feel the unique experience brought about by Mr. Yasuda's supernatural abilities.
Mr. Yasuda stood by the pool, his voice echoing throughout the swimming pool: "Students, today we're having a swimming lesson. Of course, with the help of our special abilities."
His gaze swept over each student, and then he first gave a demonstration. He jumped into the water with a splash, and then used his supernatural ability to control the water flow to accelerate in the water and quickly swim fifty meters.
His movements were fluid and swift, and he quickly covered the entire distance.
Seeing Mr. Yasuda's performance, the students were eager to try it themselves, believing that with the help of his special ability, they would be able to easily complete the swimming task.
Mr. Yasuda seemed to sense their confidence, and he smiled and said, "So, is there anyone who feels confident enough to have a match with me?"
Shibata immediately responded to Yasuda-sensei's provocation with a flamboyant manner. He stepped forward with a confident smile on his face and declared, "I'll do it!" His voice was loud and full of challenge.
Ando and Kanzaki stepped forward calmly, their expressions composed. They didn't speak, but their steps were firm.
Ito Sawa hesitated for a moment. He figured Yasuda-sensei was definitely making an example of him, so he decided to avoid the limelight. He thought to himself, as a psychopath, it was understandable that he lacked confidence in his athletic abilities. He took a step back and decided to observe the situation.
Looking at the three students who stepped forward, Mr. Yasuda's eyes revealed a hint of appreciation: "Very good, your courage deserves praise. However, don't forget that while your special abilities can help you, swimming skills and physical strength are equally important."
Shibata laughed and waved his hand, "Don't worry, Mr. Yasuda, I'm a swimming expert!" His exaggerated movements showed his great confidence.
Ando and Kanzaki didn't say much. They walked to the poolside, got into position, and prepared to start the competition.
Mr. Yasuda nodded and returned to the other end of the pool, ready to compete with the three students. A serious look appeared in his eyes: "Well then, let's begin. Are you ready?"
"Ready!" Shibata shouted, his body already in a jumping position.
Ando and Kanzaki nodded, their eyes revealing a hint of tension, but even more so, determination.
Shibata and Ando stood on the take-off platform, their bodies tense, ready to exert their strength. Shibata's ability, "Dynamic Balance," made every movement he made in the water exceptionally stable, while Ando's ability, "Body Control," allowed her to precisely manipulate every part of her body, including her strokes and kicks in the water.
"Ready—jump!" At Mr. Yasuda's command, Shibata and Ando leaped into the water like arrows released from a bow. Their movements were swift and powerful, splashing water everywhere, and the two darted through the water as nimbly as fish.
Kanzaki chose a different strategy. He jumped into the water, but just swam forward casually, closed his eyes, concentrated his mental energy, and launched a mental attack on Mr. Yasuda, who was also in the pool.
His idea was simple: as long as Mr. Yasuda slowed down and let Shibata or Ando win, Class B would have regained face.
Just as Mr. Yasuda was about to exert his strength to split the water, he suddenly stopped. His eyes were sharp as knives as he glanced around and quickly noticed Kanzaki's little trick.
He had thinly surrounded the swimming pool with water, so he could immediately detect any breakthroughs in supernatural abilities. Therefore, it could only be Kanzaki who was lagging behind.
Teacher Yasuda placed his palm on the water's surface, applying resistance to the water as a whole. Then, he released a grayish-white water that gathered around him, continuously weakening Kanzaki's mental attack, while swimming forward unaffected.
He would certainly make special water to protect against mental attacks, otherwise, being attacked mentally would be a huge problem.
Shibata and Ando in the pool sensed the change in the water flow. Although they were fast, they needed more strength to overcome the resistance of the water flow. However, with the help of the water flow, Mr. Yasuda quickly caught up with them and then swiftly overtook Shibata and Ando.
In the end, Mr. Yasuda completed the 50-meter swim with an absolute advantage, followed closely by Shibata and Ando. Kanzaki's mental attack, though powerful, seemed insignificant in the face of Mr. Yasuda's water-based superpower.
After the competition, Mr. Yasuda stood by the pool, a hint of satisfaction in his smile: "Not bad, you all did very well. But remember, superpowers are just an aid. True strength comes from your own hard work and preparation; otherwise, no matter how strong your superpowers are, they won't be effective."
As he spoke, he looked at Kanzaki meaningfully.
