Chapter 41 Shock

In a flash, the wolf's howl and the sword's ferocity clashed. Cheng Kaiji pushed Qiao Ran behind him and instructed, "Stay put and don't move. Just protect yourself."

Qiao Ran didn't move. It wasn't that she was afraid of death, but that she had thought things through more than Cheng Kaiji and the others. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that a few people were trying to escape when they saw the Tuoyue Pavilion charging into battle. Qiao Ran's expression turned cold, and she sent out a sword that landed a few inches in front of those people's feet.

The group turned around in alarm, but when they saw it was Qiao Ran, their gazes turned fierce. Qiao Ran simply clapped her hands calmly. "Our leader bought it from a shop in Xuecheng. He just gave it to me before we left the city. It's barely a good sword."

The sword was bought by Wu Yang and his group at a high price from a shop in the city as a precaution after Qiao Ran was attacked at Luoxue Manor. The blade was sharp enough, the sword was two fingers wide and less than a meter long. Qiao Ran could carry it lightly and found it to be easy to use.

After she finished speaking, she coldly raised her eyes and stared at the person who was trying to slip away.

Someone glared at her angrily, "What are you doing!"

Qiao Ran sneered, went over, drew her sword, and patted the man's face in full view of everyone. The man immediately looked like he wanted to kill Qiao Ran.

Qiao Ran didn't seem to care. She sheathed her sword and said sternly, "I'll stand right here and see who dares to leave."

Actually, everyone was thinking of taking the opportunity to escape, but when they heard Qiao Ran say that, their attitude immediately changed. "Who do you think you are? Why can't we leave?"

"That's right, we have legs, it's none of your business, let's go!"

"Let's see who dares!" Wherever Qiao Ran's palm wind passed, the frost and snow on the ground were neatly lifted up, and the air was filled with murderous intent. Everyone was surprised that she looked so thin, but her internal strength was so strong, and they suddenly fell silent.

"I entrusted Yueguan to protect you as you charged forward, yet you all thought of running away? Tell me, what kind of logic is this, exchanging lives when we have no relatives or friends?" Qiao Ran stared at them, her fingertips gently stroking the scabbard, and said in a deep voice, "Before we repel the wolf pack, if even one person dares to slip under my nose, I won't hesitate to kill him first."

"you!!"

Qiao Ran raised an eyebrow. "If you don't believe me, you can try it."

Seeing that she was serious, the others huddled together, panting heavily, and dared not act recklessly for a moment.

Qiao Ran finally had time to watch the battle. The snow wolf pack had been exhausted by this group of people, and now Wu Yang and his group were attacking with great force and showing no mercy. After killing several of them, the wolf pack became timid. However, there were still many animals, and if the fight continued, it would be the big ones who would get hurt.

Qiao Ran was dissatisfied and turned to stare at the others who were protecting themselves. "What are you standing there for? Haven't you rested enough?"

The others were rendered speechless by Qiao Ran's inexplicable aura.

Qiao Ran continued, "Those of you who can move your hands and feet, why don't you go down and help? Do you think you can hide here and be safe? I'll shout, and Commander Wu will be able to lead us away unscathed. When the snow wolves surround us, guess how much chance you have of surviving?"

Under Qiao Ran's threat, the others had no choice but to join the battle, their strength increasing instantly, while the snow wolf was at a disadvantage.

Qiao Ran watched with composure, ready to intervene should Cheng Kaiji and the others be in danger. Suddenly, someone beside her said, "I underestimated you at Luoxue Manor before, young lady. You have quite the spirit."

Qiao Ran wasn't surprised that they had recognized her. She said coldly, "Young master, if you don't have any martial arts skills, don't come out here to seek your own death."

The man chuckled, "I brought quite a few people, but I didn't expect to run into a pack of snow wolves as soon as I entered the academy. Most of them were lost. It was just bad luck, since I had never encountered such a dangerous situation on my previous trips to the academy."

Qiao Ran gleaned a key point from his words and scrutinized him, "Have you been to the snowfield many times before?"

The man nodded.

Qiao Ran asked, "What are you doing here?"

"How do you think the news of the Moon Fox Relic got out, young lady?"

Qiao Ran frowned slightly. "Did you spread the news? To use everyone to help you find the Moon Fox? You also want the Moon Fox Relic?"

"You jest, young lady. Who among those present tonight doesn't want the Moon Fox Relic?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Qiao Ran's sword was at his neck. "Believe it or not, I'll kill you right now. We must take the Moon Fox Relic."

The servants of Snowfall Manor were about to rush forward to protect their master, but the young master stood tall and waved his hand to signal them not to act rashly. He said to Qiao Ran, "Miss, wait until I finish speaking before you make your move."

Qiao Ran raised an eyebrow. The young man in front of her was not old, with a handsome face and upright posture. He could be considered a dashing and debonair person.

"If I'm not mistaken, what you want is a relic, isn't it?"

Qiao Ran deliberately brought her sword a little closer to his neck. "Otherwise what? You said it yourself, everyone came for the Moon Fox Relic. If I don't want the relic, do you expect me to take the fox?"

The young man smiled slightly, revealing his dimples, "What I want is precisely the fox."

Qiao Ran: "..."

The atmosphere was a little awkward. The young master leaned back and said helplessly, "Miss, could you please put the sword away first? We can talk this over."

As he wished, Qiao Ran sheathed her sword and asked, "You really don't want the relic, but the fox?"

“Yes,” he said, “I wouldn’t dare deceive you, girl. Let’s cooperate. You can take the relic, and I’ll take the fox.”

Qiao Ran thought for a moment and decided to try to bluff him again. She snorted coldly, "Why should I cooperate with you? You can't lift a finger or carry anything. What benefit would I get from cooperating with you?"

"I know how to lure the Moon Fox out."

Qiao Ran chuckled, "I know too, snow wolf blood."

The man paused, his expression quite interesting. After a while, he stepped forward to get closer to Qiao Ran. He could tell that although Wu Yang was the one in charge of Tuoyue Pavilion, Qiao Ran played an indispensable guiding role in the process. She was very clever.

“Miss Qiao? I heard them call you that, so I assume your surname is Qiao. I also know where Yuehu will appear next. If you are willing to cooperate, I will take you there.”

Qiao Ran only half believed his words. Looking back, she saw that the snow wolves were gradually retreating. As long as everyone worked together to hold on for a while and did not lose momentum, they could defeat the wolf pack.

She also saw the retreating wolf pack. At the very end, there was a huge alpha wolf, half of its body hidden in the snowy night. Its thick, shiny fur blended into the snow and night. As if it had sensed Qiao Ran's gaze, it revealed its fierce fangs and slowly disappeared.

Qiao Ran relaxed for a moment, then seemed to remember something and slowly drew her sword.

"wrong."

"Miss Qiao, you must be careful."

Without him saying anything, Qiao Ran guessed that if the alpha wolf had really retreated, the other snow wolves would not continue to fight. Looking at the wolf pack around Wu Yang and the others that was howling fiercely but dared not move forward, Qiao Ran became alert. The alpha wolf had not left yet.

A faint rustling sound came from the snow, the soft crunching of a massive creature as it quietly trudged through the snow. Almost at the last second, Qiao Ran drew her sword and faced the alpha wolf leaping down from behind. The wolf's eyes turned bloodshot at that moment, and it charged straight at Qiao Ran.

Qiao Ran was thrown to the ground and rolled several times before getting up covered in dust. The alpha wolf howled a few times, seemingly realizing that Qiao Ran was a weak point, and then charged again. Adhering to the principle that humans should not fight with beasts, Qiao Ran, amidst the shouts of Cheng Kaiji and the others, pulled out a torch from behind her as she fled. The light shone brightly, slightly intimidating the alpha wolf.

The people at Tuoyue Pavilion followed Qiao Ran's example and lit torches. Sure enough, the wolf pack retreated. Qiao Ran confronted the alpha wolf on this side. Her gaze was even fiercer than the wolf's. After a moment, the alpha wolf howled and turned to run away.
