Being a passerby in HP female protagonist fanfiction
Chapter 81 Visiting the patient
The Weasley twins were all smiles, and they seemed eager to play a trick on Hermione and me, but before they could do anything, Madam Pomfrey blasted them out of the hospital wing first.
The toilet seat they specially brought for Harry was also confiscated.
"We washed it specially!" Fred immediately protested, using exaggerated gestures.
"Do not disturb the patient's rest."
Without even blinking, Mrs. Pomfrey told them to leave immediately.
"Let's play again when we have time!"
"See you next time!"
Seeing this, the Weasley twins simply slipped away, not forgetting to make a face at us before leaving.
In a sense, they are indeed true joy to be around; even though they like to joke around all the time, they are still likable.
Fortunately, while Hermione was worried about Harry, I placed a small bouquet of flowers that I had brought for Harry next to his bedside, along with a card wishing him a speedy recovery.
Although the truth of the matter is still unclear, it is undeniable that Harry accomplished something great, which is said to be related to Professor Quirrell. Suddenly, he gained many admirers, and many people brought him gifts, which were piled up in a corner.
Great, I've got the formula for visiting someone in the hospital.
After visiting Harry, it's time to wait; the year-end banquet and the House Cup finals are just around the corner.
As expected, this year's results will follow the fan fiction trend, with Slytherin emerging victorious. They already had a significant lead, almost a precipitous one, and with Willow's involvement in the Philosopher's Stone incident, Dumbledore is unlikely to award Gryffindor such a large score.
As for Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw... naturally, it wasn't so ideal. Everyone accepted it calmly, but there was also a little bit of resentment. Everyone hoped that their respective houses could achieve better results.
On the bright side, at least Gryffindor is at the bottom, and they get a lot of extra points, but they also lose a lot of points, making them far less stable than the other two houses.
Third place is good too, at least we didn't come in last, Susan told us with an optimistic spirit.
I:"……"
Once Dumbledore finishes adding points, we'll be in fourth place.
The day before the year-end party, Harry finally woke up. He, Hermione, and Ron had an exciting discussion. When I came back, I could tell that the two of them were distracted. They had successfully resolved the situation, but they hadn't addressed the root cause. They knew that Voldemort would definitely return.
I visited Harry again the next day, on the morning the banquet began, but I went alone, representing some of the little badgers who admire Harry, to give him gifts.
Mrs. Pomfrey allowed me to go in for five minutes, and told me to be quiet and not to disturb the patient.
Harry probably lay in bed all night and half the morning. Although his energy had recovered, he seemed a little listless, probably because he had been lying down for so long.
When he saw me walk in carrying a bag of snacks, his eyes lit up and he immediately sat up.
“Claire!” Harry said, stammering somewhat inexplicably, “You came to… to…”
"Poor child," I thought helplessly.
Suffering such a serious injury and having to lie in bed for so long must have been very difficult and suffocating for the energetic Harry.
I was also happy to greet Harry and give him Hufflepuff's own pack of snacks, letting him know that many people admire him now.
"Although we still don't know exactly what happened, it's good that Potter is alright now." I breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, and the atmosphere gradually relaxed.
"Thank you, Claire... and them..." Harry seemed to be trying to find a topic to talk about. He sat on the hospital bed, his hands not knowing what to do, so he just unconsciously clutched the blanket in front of him.
There was a brand new photo album on the bedside table of his hospital bed, and I knew it was full of pictures of Lily and James.
“I heard a little about it from Willotte; it was very dangerous at the time.”
"Oh, that was really dangerous." Harry looked quite frightened, and his mood sombered as the incident was brought up, but it quickly turned into a look of excitement and worry hidden in his eyes.
He quickly recovered, his green eyes shining. Despite having just encountered danger, he seemed even more positive than before.
Was it the release of an adventurous spirit? Or the support of friends? Or perhaps the happy moments from parents felt through the photos?
"..."
"..."
I sensed the quiet atmosphere; it was time to leave.
"Get some rest, I'm leaving now..."
"If you can, just call me Harry."
Our voices rang out at the same time.
I was stunned.
Harry felt a flash of light before his eyes, and his face flushed rapidly. If there had been a hole in the ground, he would have crawled into it.
"Uh, well, it's just..."
"Yes, of course, no problem," I replied promptly to avoid making the atmosphere too awkward.
When I first arrived at Hogwarts, I wasn't really familiar with the names and titles used by foreigners. So, when I met or got to know someone for the first time, I would address them by their surname followed by a polite term. I would also use this when introducing someone to others, thinking that this was the safest way to address them.
However, I later realized that such a form of address was too stiff, and after meeting them once or twice, I would start calling them by their names.
Harry was clearly an exception. Although we met quite a few times, we rarely interacted. Moreover, due to Chinese customs, I usually don't change the way I address someone on our first meeting unless they ask me to.
Strangely, Harry never brought up the matter of changing my form of address with me, and every time we met, the atmosphere felt odd.
When Hermione is around, I usually focus my attention on her.
Friends wouldn't do that. When things naturally progress, they can call each other by their first names. My way of addressing Harry actually represents a form of resistance, a sign of unwillingness to develop a deeper relationship.
I did this not just to Harry, but also to Draco and Ron.
Because they have a larger presence in the original work and fan fiction, and the stereotypes are more deeply ingrained, it's difficult for me to immediately detach myself from the influence of the plot when dealing with them.
Whether to protect myself from being exposed or for the sake of a potential friendship, I cannot do this.
Hermione and Willow are both girls, so I feel closer to them and more at peace with them. The biased impressions I had from the storyline quickly faded away as we spent time together, and a true, full, and beautiful friendship blossomed between us.
That's not bad either.
Looking back now, I was definitely a bit too cautious... A year of adjustment time has allowed me to transition quite naturally; it's time to change my social habits.
I was very calm and changed my address without any psychological burden.
“Harry,” I said, my eyes crinkling with a smile because of my good mood.
"I'm glad you're alright," I said, "but—"
I still wish you continued peace and safety.
