Chapter 80 The Passage of the 4th Floor Corridor
The next day, unsurprisingly, what happened in the fourth-floor corridor shocked the entire Hogwarts.
Just as the final month of exams was over and everyone was emerging from the intense study period, they suddenly heard this shocking news, which spread throughout Hogwarts like a virus.
Many people only pass on the story by word of mouth, but they don't know exactly what happened. They only know that something terrible happened, but they can't explain it in detail.
All they saw was an injured Ron and a flustered Hermione, the serious and hurried professors and Dumbledore, Harry Potter unconscious in the medical wing, and Willow, who followed behind them with ease but revealed nothing.
"I think it's better for the headmaster to explain this," Willotte said, remaining tight-lipped when questioned by Slytherin.
Everywhere people were talking about what had happened... but I wasn't among them. The next morning, I learned the whole story from Hermione and Willow.
Willotte did go to the fourth-floor corridor, a little slower than the three little ones, because she had to figure out how to get through the flames. When she got there, Harry was already confronting Quirrell.
The rest of the story unfolded exactly as expected.
Harry took the Philosopher's Stone, and Voldemort was about to deal with Harry when Willotte, who was lurking nearby, launched a sneak attack, almost knocking him out of his wand.
Willotte and Quirrell fought with great agility, exchanging blows back and forth. She didn't use any spells with dark magic properties, relying entirely on pure magic output. She used her Quidditch-style tactics to kite Quirrell, directly provoking his impotent rage.
Quirrell was highly skilled in magic, but he had been injured in the Forbidden Forest and even unicorn blood could not heal him. His mental state was on the verge of collapse. Harry was not the kind of person to just wait around. During the fight, he realized that Quirrell could be hurt by his touch, so he disregarded the danger and pounced on him, killing Quirrell instantly.
Voldemort escapes, Harry faints, and Willow gets the Philosopher's Stone. By the time Dumbledore arrives, his plan has gone completely awry, as the Philosopher's Stone has been obtained by a powerful Slytherin who refuses to return it directly.
“I understand the headmaster’s good intentions, but I cannot accept facing the threat of an evil dark wizard in such an unclear manner, especially given that he is possessed by Voldemort.” Willotte cleverly used this opportunity. “I will not use the Philosopher’s Stone, but out of respect for Mr. Nicolas Flamel, I wish to personally hand it over to them.”
Looking at the shrewd and sincere Slytherin in front of him, Dumbledore's eyelids twitched.
I have a bad feeling...
However, this Slytherin was just a very capable student, and his ambition was in line with Slytherin's standards. Moreover, Willotte bravely participated in the incident and indirectly saved Harry, so her contribution cannot be denied.
When Willow told me this, I looked shocked and amazed, but I already knew about it from fan fiction.
After all, to cultivate an outstanding Dark Lord, one cannot do without the training of Nicolas Flamel and the teachings of Grindelwald. Not to mention the current Nicolas, in another year Willow will go to study under Grindelwald, and then she will be a true "Dark Lord" in the same lineage.
It's okay, just a small problem.
Dumbledore is now in a dilemma, but when Willotte lets Grindelwald out to roam, he will know what it means to be utterly miserable.
I generously offered comfort to Willotte and Hermione separately.
Willotte leaned comfortably on my shoulder. During this time, she had fully demonstrated her time management skills, studying for final exams, practicing magic, tracking Quirrell, exploring the castle, and maintaining her social life.
So hard.
I have great respect for you.
As Willotte recounted the events of the previous night to me, she tentatively revealed a glimpse into her true ideal.
“That is indeed a real mysterious man, he is very powerful, but…” Willotte said, “he is still within the range of being able to defeat him.”
These were arrogant words, but Willotte's tone remained relaxed.
Her tone was gentle, almost to the point of brainwashing.
“Although we’re still a long way off,” she said, “I still hope that I’ll be the one to solve that problem.”
"..."
"After all, someone has to solve everything and get to the root of the problem. So why can't it be me?"
The implication of this statement goes beyond the simple meaning of defeating Voldemort; it subtly reveals Willotte's ambition to control the wizarding world.
"So—will Claire support me?" Willotte tilted her head, staring intently at me.
"I believe in Willotte."
I answered.
It's not about support, it's about belief.
Willotte nodded and laughed; she understood what I meant.
She knew I understood her ambition, and she also knew that I didn't mind her ambition.
Willotte and I will not walk the same path, but we will not be opposites either.
“No matter what, I like Claire very much,” Willotte said.
"Yes, me too."
We tacitly maintained our friendship.
Hermione was quite calm and composed, describing to me how they got through those checkpoints while concealing some important information that she thought might be dangerous. She was also puzzled by what happened in the end.
“Claire…” She hesitated, but ultimately did not reveal anything about Voldemort. She also informed Ron beforehand, telling him not to tell anyone else.
Harry was unconscious for three days, and many people visited him during those three days, including me, Hermione, and I even ran into the mischievous Weasley twins.
"So what exactly happened?" George asked.
"How about we send Harry a toilet seat?" Fred suggested.
The two of them winked and made faces at each other, practically circling around Harry's hospital bed, creating a cheerful atmosphere, though they were careful to keep their voices down.
Perhaps it was out of consideration, or perhaps it was because she didn't want to be kicked out by Mrs. Pomfrey.
Hogwarts isn't very big. Of course, this wasn't my first time seeing them, but it was definitely my first time interacting with them.
They were very outgoing; the moment they met me, they started calling me Claire.
"That foreign kid from Hufflepuff!"
"The classmate who got the kitchen sprite to make super spicy soy milk!"
I was completely stunned.
What?
What spicy soy milk... That's clearly Mapo soy milk that the little elf made himself.
I vehemently deny any connection between those culinary disasters and myself.
