Iya Continent: Card God
Chapter 35: A Redundant Account of Stone
The blazing red flames burned and swirled within the knight's longsword like reeds swaying in the wind, illuminating the surrounding area. The armor of the Flame Fox Knight, Moke, flickered and dimmed incessantly, and his handsome face revealed an expression even more intense than the flames.
The shattered shadows before my eyes reassembled and returned to their original state.
"Immortal?" Flame Fox Moke murmured with some fear.
This inexplicable dark shadow, some kind of bizarre magic, seemed to possess a life of its own. Though not powerful, if it were immortal, it would be a major problem for me.
"I don't believe it!" Flame Fox Moke shouted, taking a step forward.
The fiery blade, with each slash, transformed into a crescent-shaped strike.
Linta, gazing from afar, used his mind to control his shadow as much as possible to avoid it.
However, it was still scorched by the flames; under the burning magic, the shadow was quickly reduced to fragments. But the shadow felt no pain and continued to dodge away from the Flame Fox Knight.
The Flame Fox Moke's attacks showed no sign of stopping; he refused to believe that this "shadow" was immortal. In his understanding, maintaining or casting any spell required magical energy; it needed magical energy to sustain it. The reason this shadow could live or die was simply because it was being sustained by magical energy. And magical energy, even for gods, was finite.
Those sneaky, disgusting fellows are nowhere near being compared to God!
"Swoosh!" "Swoosh!"
Kim Gong's tightly gripped hammer handle began to shake, his arm poised to unleash its power at any moment.
His beard bristled like a lion's mane, and he was incredibly agitated.
"Linta, let me do it too!" Jingong said urgently through gritted teeth.
“No, wait a little longer…” Linta replied, his voice gradually becoming hoarse.
The thief Malen nervously glanced at the two, preventing the dwarf Jingon from making a move. He understood that if Jingon acted, Mok Besson would immediately know who was behind it and what their purpose was. However, Linta was nearing his limit! His face was pale, cold sweat poured down his back, and he was struggling to breathe. Clearly, he wouldn't last much longer.
But why is this happening? Wasn't he using magic? Magical spells consume mana, so this shouldn't be the case, right?
"Fire Fox Fields!"
The Flame Fox Moke's powerful slash sent flames scattering, illuminating the darkness in the surrounding area.
Linta's shadow was completely obscured by the darkness, standing alone in the firelight.
The entire shadow at this moment was moving at the same speed as Linta himself.
At this moment, Yanhu Moke also brought down his sword.
The raging flames scorched the shadow's entire body, and the slash directly split the shadow in two.
This time, the shadow could not be restored and completely disappeared, returning to the foot of Linta without anyone noticing.
"cough!"
Linta, pale-faced and delirious, swayed unsteadily.
A fragmented consciousness kept telling itself, no, I can't give up yet. I... I have to... hold on a little longer...
……
Before me lay a dark tower, and I could vaguely sense the flow of consciousness.
Suddenly, her eyes snapped open, and she remembered what had happened before she lost consciousness.
In sight is a roof full of intricate mechanisms, not a very high roof, the workshop of goblin Bruce Stone.
"Forehead?"
Linta frowned, puzzled by his situation.
Then a familiar voice rang out, "You're awake."
Linta glanced over and saw the silver-haired, aloof elven girl looking at him without any emotion.
"Linta, you're finally awake," Pinecone said calmly.
"Gala!" Gualala revealed sharp teeth, his mouth as sharp as a slice of watermelon.
Jin Gong calmly drank the liquor he had somehow gotten his hands on, saying, "I already told you, I won't die."
The thief, Maren, huddled in the corner, somewhat afraid to look Linta in the eye. He had a vague feeling that this seemingly harmless man was actually the most terrifying fellow among this group of races.
"What's going on?" Linta sat up, leaning against the wall next to the bed, puzzled and curious.
Jingong replied, "After you fainted, Shia came out. That Flame Fox Mok didn't find her."
At that time, Gingon was already planning to make a move to stop the Flame Fox Mok, in order to buy Shia time. Fortunately, Shia found him in time, otherwise Gingon would definitely have been captured by the enraged Mok Besson.
"Who do you think you are? That's unnecessary." Shia looked at Linta and expressed her opinion on Linta's behavior.
Linta sighed softly, and said without regret, "Is that so?"
Shia continued, "He's just a Silver Knight, what's so special about him? Even if I lose my magic now, I can still escape from that prison."
"You're really good at bragging. If I hadn't been locked in the same carriage as you, I would have believed you," Jin Gong rolled his eyes and muttered.
Shia ignored Jingon completely, keeping her eyes fixed on Linta.
Linta scratched the back of his head, his thoughts racing, and then changed the subject, asking, "By the way, what's the situation in the dungeon? Did you see the goblin stone? Did you find out anything?"
All of this was just to learn the details of the murder from the goblin stone.
Shia said, "I saw it. I asked what you wanted me to ask."
Linta's eyes lit up. "What did he say?"
Shia breathed a sigh of relief, recalling how she had listened to the sounds from the stone while leaning against the dark dungeon.
Although both goblin Bruce Stone and Luc Reynolds were in the magical artifact business on Cone Street, their businesses and interests didn't conflict much. However, they did have a minor disagreement on a regular basis, but that was all.
Just a few days ago, Boss Renault was searching for Goblin Stone when the thief Maren happened to be asking Goblin Stone to forge a magical artifact with the functions he needed. Boss Renault is now seeking out Goblin Stone to discuss a joint business deal. In other words, Renault will have Goblin Stone forge the magical artifact, and he will sell it. Together, their magical artifact business could rival the major stores on Bath Street.
However, Goblin Stone refused. Enraged, Renault berated him for being short-sighted and even stole the thief Maren from his client.
On the very day Renault died, Goblin Stone heard that someone had sold a dazzling crystal blade to Renault's artifact shop. Coincidentally, Goblin Stone had once forged a crystal blade, but it had suddenly disappeared. At first, Goblin Stone didn't think much of it, assuming his house was too messy and he'd misplaced it somewhere. Now, hearing this, he thought it might be his. So, he stormed off to the artifact shop.
Upon entering the shop, they saw Luc Reno lying in a pool of blood, a crystal blade protruding from his chest.
The goblin Stone was terrified. Trembling, he drew his blade and examined it, discovering that it was indeed the weapon he had forged.
At this moment, the thief Maren, who had come to Renault's shop to pick up the goods, appeared.
Seeing this, Malen feared the goblin would kill him, so he shouted, which led to the arrest by the guards.
Linta frowned, listening to Shia repeat the goblin stone's words, lost in thought.
Jin Gong angrily exclaimed, "I knew it! How could that skinny Stone possibly kill someone! This is a frame-up! A frame-up!"
"Gurgle, gurgle." The little fishman nodded repeatedly.
Pinecone looked completely bewildered, as if he hadn't understood.
The thief, Maren, was somewhat uneasy. So, he had done something wrong? If he hadn't shouted, wouldn't the goblin boss have been arrested? Good heavens. Would they come after him and beat him up?
"Bang!" "It's all your fault!" GimGoon slammed his fist on the table, glaring angrily at Maren, who was cowering in the corner.
“It has little to do with him. Even if he hadn’t shouted, Stone would have been arrested anyway. The Crystal Blade could probably be traced back to him forging it, and someone saw him enter the shop, plus he and Boss Renault already had a conflict,” Linta said calmly.
"Hmph!" Gingon glared at Malen, as if to say, "I'll let you off this time."
Linta murmured in thought, "Who exactly is it? Who wants to frame Boss Stone and get rid of Boss Renault?"
Shia suddenly said, "Oh right, there's something I forgot to tell you."
"Hmm?" Linta blinked and looked up at Shia.
Shia said, "After you fainted, we saw that the Flame Fox Mok take the goblin stone from the dungeon."
