Iya Continent: Card God

Chapter 26 Taking advantage of the situation

“This is a wonderful place, perfect as your grave,” Dorn Magee said with a mocking smugness.

I've waited far too long for this day.

Leer Herland was arguably the most formidable opponent he had ever encountered in his life. He was courageous, resourceful, and far-sighted—a match for himself. If his foolish son possessed even half of his talent, he would gladly be crippled or paralyzed.

"Dorn, dare you fight me one-on-one today!" the head of the Leer family shouted.

“Why wouldn’t I dare!” Dorn Magee shouted back.

The silver-tier mid-level magic power emanated from him, and his figure leaped forward like a lion, roaring as he charged.

The head of the Leer family struck a pose, the sand beneath his feet trembling, his body radiating magical power.

The clash between the two silver-level mages immediately caused a violent collision in the air.

"call out!"

Just as the two were about to clash, a cold, menacing light flashed, and a sharp claw tore through the night, ripping the air as it attacked the side of the head of the Leer family.

The head of the Leer family was shocked and immediately changed his posture, turning his offensive into a defensive stance, and retreating step by step.

"Whoosh!" "Bang!"

The sharp claws tore through the clothes of the head of the Leer family, leaving claw marks and bloodstains on his skin.

Taking advantage of Le Herland's flustered change of tactics, Dorn Magee struck, sending the head of the Le Herland family flying back more than ten steps with a powerful blow.

"puff!"

"My lord!" Knight Gob cried out in distress.

However, at this moment, he had no time to help, as he was completely restrained by the vice-captain of the Wild Wolf Bandit Gang, Fang Wolf.

The head of the Leer family was breathing heavily, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with his sleeve, his eyes glaring with resentment.

The one who ambushed him was naturally the leader of the bandit gang, Wild Wolf King.

He didn't expect that even though he was already injured by the magic potion, lightning, and bomb, Dorn still chose to attack together rather than have a one-on-one decisive battle.

Dorn Magee chuckled, "Haha, Leer, you don't think I'm going to have a boring knightly duel with you, do you? Even if your limbs are broken and you're too weak to fight, I still won't fight you."

"Results are always the most important thing."

Beneath the wolf king's mocking smile lay a hint of wariness.

This Dorn Magee was far more treacherous and terrifying than he had imagined. It was fortunate he wasn't a bandit; otherwise, he would have had no chance.

"Your Excellency Wolf King, let's finish this quickly," Dorn said with a sneer.

"Alright!" The wolf king responded with a laugh, his fierce wolf-like demeanor making him the first to charge forward.

The head of the Leer family gritted his teeth and fled immediately.

"Chase him! He can't escape!" Dorn shouted.

No matter how they escape, they're still in the mine, the mine vein; this place is destined to be their graveyard.

A mid-level Silver Clan Head and a low-level Silver Bandit were chasing after a wounded mid-level Silver Clan Head.

The outcome was obvious to both of them.

The head of the Leer family didn't even glance at the two people behind him and fled desperately.

With nowhere else to escape, they reached the mining section of the vein.

"drink……"

Leer stared at the dark underground mineral vein, panting heavily.

"Ler, have you not died yet!" Dorn shouted mockingly.

The head of the Leer family glanced back and then jumped directly into the underground mineral vein being mined.

Dorn Maggie and the Wolf King came to an abrupt stop where they were falling, their expressions grave as they looked down into the darkness below.

The Wolf King said, "Patriarch Dorne, there's only ore down there. We shouldn't chase him anymore. He definitely can't escape."

Dorn's eyes darkened. "No, there might be a pre-dug exit below. Things have come to this point; there's no reason not to pursue him. If he's still alive, the Herlan family hasn't fallen!"

After saying that, he jumped down.

The wolf king had no choice but to follow them inside.

Dorn took out a bright pearl, an object that served as a light source, and its light illuminated the cave.

The cave was undoubtedly an ore vein being mined, with iron tools for digging, iron carts for transporting iron, supporting beams, and gunpowder being extracted everywhere.

The entire underground cavern has only one tunnel, with no other extra passageways.

Wild Wolf King said, "They must have gone inwards."

With that, he took the lead and went inside.

Dorn Magee took a dozen steps, then hesitated, growing increasingly uneasy.

"call--!"

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew out of the cave, whistling towards the cave entrance.

"Why is there wind? Is there an exit over there?" Dorn Magee asked, puzzled.

"hiss--!"

Forehead?

"what sound?"

"Wolf King! What did you see?" Dorn Maggie shouted anxiously. His voice echoed throughout the mine.

"No! It's all piles of ore!" the Wolf King replied.

Dorn Maggie sniffed, and a familiar, pungent scent jolted her awake.

Gunpowder! It smells like burning gunpowder!

"Oh no! Quickly..."

"Boom! Boom—!"

An explosion occurred; the entire underground pit excavated from the mine collapsed with a deafening roar, billowing black smoke and blazing flames. The entire mine shook violently, the ground trembling.

Jim Maggie and his men, who were engaged in fierce fighting, were shocked and astonished.

What happened? Why was there such a loud explosion all of a sudden!

"Ha ha!!"

Just then, a hearty laugh broke in, attracting the attention of Jim and the others.

The dwarf Jingon Copperhammer, the bear-man Pinecone, and the little fish-man Quack-Gaga emerged from the shadows.

"Finally, we can come out!"

Jim Maggie glared at him and demanded, "What have you done?!"

"What did I do? Haha...!" Kim Gong laughed, patting his stomach.

"A counter-strategy, do you understand? Jim Maggie!" A familiar female voice came from inside.

Jim Maggie's heart skipped a beat, and he turned to look at Jenny Herland, who had appeared at the gate. What was going on? How did she get here? Shouldn't she be in town?

A profound sense of panic and unease instantly gripped the young nobleman's mind and body. He had a strong premonition that tonight's battle might truly be the last for his family!

The Fang Wolf bandits roared angrily, "What happened to our boss? What have you done?!"

Knight Gob said, "It's nothing, I just chose a good burial site for him."

The way Gob Knight's lips curled up suggested that he also knew the whole story.

……

Thick smoke billowed above the entrance to the explosion, obscuring three figures.

Shia, Linta, and the rescued family member, Ler Herlan.

Linta helped the head of the Leer family up and said happily, "It's a success. This trap was perfect."

The head of the Leer family was in a daze, never expecting that the Linta man's plan would actually succeed.

Just before this, after Linta guessed the Maggie family's plan, he immediately rushed back to Shankan City, met with the head of the Leer family who was preparing to leave, and told him his guess.

The patriarch of the Lehr family believed Linta's guess to be about 80%. After all, Dorn was his adversary of many years, and it was entirely possible that he was plotting against him in this way.

Just as Ler was pondering what to do, Linta came up with a plan.

A way for the Herland family to defeat the Maggie family once and for all.
