Iya Continent: Card God
Chapter 118 Jaedon Rubell
Beck Rubel's elite subordinates had all returned home. Beck, now back on the streets of the city, needed their escort. This was his own territory; what did he have to fear?
The only thing I fear is facing my father next.
Beck Rubel looked distressed, unsure how to explain this to his father, Jetton. His father had given him three days to capture the dwarf who had hijacked the prison wagon. But now, three days had passed, and not only had he not captured him, the dwarf had vanished without a trace.
"How am I supposed to explain this? Forget three days, even three months wouldn't be enough..." Baker complained in a pitiful voice.
Knowing his father as he did, he knew his good days were over. Soon he would be sent on a training program and then live the miserable life of a commoner.
“Sigh…” Beck Rubel sighed.
He bowed his head and groaned, his eyes looking down at the stone-paved road leading home.
"Sizzle! Crack!"
Suddenly, the stone brick ground beneath my feet underwent a strange change. Tender vines sprouted from the cracks in the bricks and gradually spread to my feet.
“Huh?” Baker Rubel stared in surprise.
By the time he realized what was happening, the vines had already wrapped around his legs and feet, spreading up to his knees. At that moment, his entire lower body was unable to move.
"What! What is that?!"
Baker Rubel realized something was wrong and struggled desperately to tear it apart.
He released magical energy, about to draw the short sword from his waist. Suddenly, a humanoid shadow appeared from behind, and a strong arm wrapped around his body.
"Earth Vine, Shadow. That's enough to deal with you."
Linta walked out of the street at the corner and spoke slowly.
"You...who are you?! Do you know who I am?!" Beck Rubel shouted angrily at Linta in front of him.
Linta smiled faintly and said, "Who I am is not important, just remember who he is." Beck Rubel shivered and glanced sideways at the dwarf carrying the warhammer who had appeared.
"Heh heh, kid, do you still remember me?" Jin Gong said with a sly smile.
Beck Rubel felt a sudden jolt in his throat and a chill run down his spine.
He never expected that the other party would choose to ambush him in the city on his way home.
"You...you listen to me, there might be some misunderstanding between us..." Baker said anxiously, trying to explain something.
GimGoon, his beard bristling, revealed a ferocious expression, shouting, "Go explain yourself to me, you hammer!"
He leaped up and brought his warhammer crashing down.
This was the Vengeance Warhammer that Jingon had forged in Sandel City, reaching the rank of inferior quality, which also made him a superior-level blacksmith. The power of this hammer blow was too much for his silver-level opponent to withstand; he would surely die.
"No...!" Baker cried out in terror.
The hammer slammed down, "Bang!"
"Huh?!" Linta's expression changed drastically, and his eyes widened.
A majestic figure appeared before Hammerfall Baker, wearing a long, silver-gray iron gauntlet that reached his elbow, and caught GimGoon's hammer head-on.
"Haa!" Jin Gong was shocked. His magic strike was completely blocked by the person in front of him.
The person in front of me evoked a deep-seated fear in me.
"Low-level Gold!" Jingon gritted his teeth, the impact of his magic sending him flying.
At the same time, a man in a dark blue robe, empowered by wind magic, sped to the scene.
“Young Master…Master, you’re here too…” the magician Josby said in surprise.
Linta's expression darkened as he looked at this extraordinary man.
Is he the head of the Rubel family? Baker's father, Jaden Rubel.
Linta's heart began to race. The man before her possessed an aura and presence that surpassed even that of Duke Brandon of the Vasquez family, and was no less impressive than that of Natted. This kind of person was destined for greatness.
Linta had already formed an opinion based on Jingon's account of the Rubel family, especially their slave trade. Anyone who could so openly and brazenly expand such a business must be extraordinary. Now, meeting them, he realized they were perhaps even more formidable than he had imagined!
“Father…Father…” Beck was so frightened that tears streamed down his face, thinking he was going to die here.
“What are you crying for? It’s shameful,” Jaden Rubel said coldly and authoritatively.
Beck Rubel was speechless for a moment, biting his lip tightly.
The magician Josby dared not look directly at Jaden, only glancing at him briefly. He was shocked; the man's timely appearance was certainly not a coincidence. He must have anticipated this, that the enemy would strike when his son was back in the city, at his most vulnerable moment.
However, he never expected that the man would take action himself!
"A son like that, his father must be no better!" Jin Gong cursed.
Jaedon Rubel didn't become hysterical or emotionally unstable because of Gingon's words. He always maintained a dignified and calm demeanor, as if the peak remained unmoved.
Jaden said calmly, "Normally, I wouldn't show up. But, since they've hijacked my business, I have to do something about it. Otherwise, it would be disgusting if a bunch of reckless lunatics kept popping up in the future."
"Who are you calling crazy!" Kim Gong retorted angrily.
As he spoke, he slowly retreated, approaching Linta.
No matter how agitated he was, Kim Gong was still clear-headed.
The situation is not good. There is a high-level silver mage and a gold-level enemy. Moreover, the family's knights and soldiers may also be on their way.
"Linta, prepare to escape..." Jingon murmured softly.
Linta looked focused, his thoughts racing, and he was naturally aware of his current situation.
His gaze fell on Nabek, who was entangled by his "Earth Vine" and restrained by his shadow.
but……
The shadow was instantly destroyed by Najeton Rubel, and the earth vines were also shattered in the process.
Nabek Rubel easily gained flexibility and freedom.
“Lord Rubel, leave them to me,” the magician Josby said.
At this moment, he desperately wanted to capture Linta and his companion in order to curry favor with them.
His robes billowed in the wind as he stepped forward, a cold expression on his face as he chanted a magical incantation.
"Linta, you go first! I'll cover you!" Jin Gong shouted, swinging his hammer.
"None of you are leaving," Josby said in a deep voice, his hand gestures unleashing magical power.
"The Hand of Technique!"
Suddenly, the magic transformed into two enormous hands, each over three meters long, radiating a dark blue light.
His palm surged with immense power, grabbing directly at Linta and Jingon.
Jingong glared and gritted his teeth, intending to sacrifice himself so that Linta could escape.
but……
"GimGoon, you go! I'll take your place!"
Linta's swift and powerful "Iron Rhinoceros Strike" sent one hand flying with the force of a gust of wind, and then he used the power of his fist to block the other hand.
Josby was astonished that this mid-level Silver rank guy actually possessed such power!
Jaedon Rubel's eyes narrowed and deepened as he paid closer attention to Linta.
I had a feeling that this was a more dangerous person than anyone else!
