Rebirth: Supreme Soul Master

Chapter 92 The Interrogation Begins

Moreover, he knew that threatening the kid with force wouldn't work! He had just heard about the situation between his friend and the child.

Kong was puzzled by the principal's words, but he kept all his guesses to himself and decided to see through the boy first.

In his eyes, this child was full of mystery and suspicion.

Kong watched as this weak bronze soul master outwitted and outmaneuvered his fierce son. Even though he had seen him fight in the forest before, every time he met William, he gained a new understanding of his seemingly strange abilities.

Like his grandmother, William's actions were not overlooked by his keen eyes. Even the experienced old Soul Master had to admit that everything William did was beyond the scope of his extensive knowledge.

This made him even more determined to extract more information and secrets from William, to understand his true nature and where his loyalty really lay.

If he were on their side, Kong found himself unable to refute what his friend had told him earlier. William could be their sharpest blade, or their fatal weakness.

“Come on, this isn’t the place for our long talk.” With that, Kong turned and left without waiting for William’s reply.

"Does he want to do what that crazy principal did back then?" William couldn't help but sigh inwardly, cursing the luck of the girls he had met.

He also suspected that Kong knew what he had done in the forest. Coupled with what he had done to Carol here, William could already foresee a long interrogation and heated conversation.

As far as he knew, Kong knew far more than he had imagined. If William had known what Kong knew and understood the whole situation, he probably wouldn't have agreed to come here to meet with Kong in the first place.

"The rest of you wait here." Just as he disappeared inside, Kong's deep and powerful voice was like a god proclaiming to mortals.

"Let's go, what are you still standing here for?" Just as William hesitated, Berry's father said this bitterly.

The grandmother, standing nearby, couldn't help but sigh inwardly. She could tell that Kong was determined to extract the truth from William. She didn't know whether to pity the child or mock his misfortune.

What William did here, and what he showed them, was just the tip of the iceberg. Many secrets remained hidden in his little head, and it was clear that Kong was determined to unravel them all at this meeting.

This finally made Grandma feel sad for William.

William followed Kong into the enormous mansion. A spacious hall greeted them, its walls adorned with paintings. Each painting, framed in gold, depicted a man with a grotesque expression.

“This is our long line of ancestors,” the old patriarch appeared beside William, his imposing presence like a mountain, “from the progenitor to every patriarch from my father onwards.”

"And you?" William asked without even looking in the old man's direction.

“After I die, I will be hung on this wall,” Kong laughed. “Come on, let’s go to that room over there. It’s full of spells and very well protected. No outsider can eavesdrop on our conversation.”

Hearing this, William's belief that Kong knew what he had done in the forest deepened. At least as far as he knew, this meeting would not be a simple one, nor would it be merely a discussion of what he had done in the forest or how he had helped Berry recover from his illness.

"So...you were a mover a few days ago, right?"

When William followed him into the room, he found a small room just as the old man had described.

It is only five meters wide and ten meters long. In the middle is a small oval wooden table, and there are six small seats on the sides, where two people sit facing each other.

As they spoke, the old patriarch spoke with a serious expression. A strange chill flickered in Kong's eyes, as if he were facing not a child, but a formidable enemy.

"Don't we need to activate the protective barrier here first?" William said slowly, though he seemed calm despite sensing a slight, inexplicable hostility from Kong.

"Hehe, a young man, an exporter, yet he knows quite a lot," the old patriarch chuckled. "Don't worry, these barriers will be activated as soon as I enter this door."

"Yes, I used to be a porter."

"So you're a Soul Master now, right?" Kong's gaze remained fixed on William. William felt the pressure, but he wasn't affected.

“I am a Bronze-level Soul Master,” William said calmly.

“This is an amazing thing, and very suspicious, don’t you agree?” Kong jumped straight to the main topic of his desire to see William.

"You know I'm not on the side of the traitor, right?"

Faced with such harsh interrogation, William gave a challenging answer. The old patriarch looked at him silently for a long time before slowly shaking his head.

"I don't know if you're on our side or theirs."

"Why?" William wasn't shocked by the answer. The next moment, an ominous premonition enveloped him.

He thought that what he had done to Berry, what he had done in the forest, and even his conduct at the college trial must have proven his position.

But for some reason, the old man in front of him did not believe these things.

But William’s brief and immediate reply surprised Kong.

"Why are you asking questions here? Don't you know who I am?"
