“Where?” William paused, then added, “Also, please ask her first before making any promises you can’t keep.”

“Who said it was a girl?” The man was momentarily speechless, recalling his thoughts when William first made that strange request: “It’s him! He has no right to decide. He’s mine, and he has to go with you.”

The man pointed at Thomas, who stood there expressionless, his face revealing no trace of his true feelings or thoughts.

William looked at Thomas, trying hard to suppress the excitement on his face. He didn't want to ruin the perfect situation Thomas had just carefully created.

William disliked the girl named Ross completely, not even glancing at her. From the first moment he saw her, he could tell she was spoiled. She wasn't weak; she was almost at the high-level Silver rank, perhaps even just a step away from Gold rank. But in this world, strength isn't everything.

William could tell at a glance how poor her skill as a spiritualist was. She was the kind of person who would stand in front of danger but wouldn't prepare for battle; instead, she would crawl on the ground and cry.

She reminded him of the strange incident he had encountered in the forest outside. The spirit race there was numerous and powerful, yet they were being hunted down by a much smaller number of dark spirits, and were fleeing in terror.

William initially thought this was due to spies planted by the Dark Eldar masters. But he now realized that this wasn't the root of the problem; the real issue lay with the people living there.

They had grown accustomed to this safe and comfortable life, even forgetting to sharpen the blades of their weapons. They were powerful, possessing abilities that many other spiritualists lacked, yet they themselves were incredibly fragile.

William had been keeping a close eye on Thomas from the very beginning. He could tell that this exceptionally talented young man was firmly under this man's control. Pulling him out of this position would be extremely difficult.

But out of curiosity, William listened attentively to the man's life story, and an idea suddenly flashed into his mind. He began to put this idea into practice and eventually succeeded.

He not only got the team's base as he wanted, but also acquired Thomas. More importantly, he didn't force Thomas away, but instead encouraged the other side to offer Thomas a place on the team.

He even made that man feel grateful to William for accepting Thomas instead of his daughter, and even feel indebted to him!

"Hmm..." Although he really wanted to jump up and raise his fist to celebrate his success, he managed to control himself well and pretended to find the result hard to accept.

“He is very capable, a rare talent,” the man began, talking about Thomas’s merits, trying to get William to agree.

At the end of a speech that William didn't need to hear at all, the man almost pleaded with William to accept Thomas.

“Alright, I’ll take this one… plus the other four,” William suddenly raised his hand, spreading his fingers, “five gems in exchange for the one I had my eye on but which ran away.”

William's greed was not his fault. The man's behavior was so pathetic that it only fueled William's greed; he wanted far more followers than just Thomas.

“This… I need about a week to prepare the other four, but… it’s a deal!” The man hesitated for a moment, and a satisfied expression appeared on William’s face.

“Great,” William said, a sudden idea popping into his head. He hadn’t expected this man to be so resourceful, possessing so many treasures. “Tell me when you’re ready. I’ll be staying at a hotel here for now.”

William took out a bullet and handed it over, and also took a bullet from the man's hand.

“My name is Alfonso. You can use this to tell me anything urgent,” the man paused, “but I must tell you, if your knowledge doesn’t prove useful, then all of this…”

“I know what I’m doing,” William interrupted the man confidently, like an adult. “You just need to prepare the land and house as I say, and then let me know. The other four gems can wait a week. Once I have the land and house documents, I will keep my promise and tell you the specific methods. As for these… do you still need them?”

William gestured towards the pile of rock cores he had taken out earlier.

“Okay, please give me a minute,” the man said, leaving the table. All eyes were on one person sitting at the table: William.

“Not at all,” unlike her usual demeanor, her complexion remained unchanged this time, neither darkening nor anything else.

“What’s wrong with you?” William asked, puzzled by her unusual and sudden calm.
