Transcending Heavens: My Cheat Code is Myself
Chapter 28 Transformation
The next day, after Chen Feng got dressed and washed up, he passed by the lounge and found that his dear classmates were still fast asleep.
Malfoy and his two friends found a very comfortable spot, each occupying a large sofa, while the other classmates lay sprawled out on the floor in various crooked positions, and a few who liked warmth even reached for the fireplace.
That won't do, it's too dangerous. Chen Feng kindly moved it aside.
He then shook his head: "Good luck to you all. Today is the first day of school, I hope you won't be late."
Unfortunately, these people were all fast asleep and couldn't hear what Chen Feng was saying at all.
Chen Feng stopped looking at these people and left the dormitory on his own, heading towards the classroom.
Not long after Chen Feng left, the senior students gradually came out of the dormitory. Some of them were yawning, but their eyes were fixed on the lounge the moment they caught sight of it.
What did they see? This group of aristocratic juniors were rolling around on the floor in all sorts of crooked and messy ways, and the entire floor was scrubbed until it shone brightly.
Wow, did the juniors have a blast yesterday?
"What a carefree and carefree first year of school! I envy my lost youth."
"But why are they still sleeping? Have they forgotten that they have to go to class on the first day of school?"
What was their first lesson?
"It must be Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration class."
What about the second quarter?
"Professor Snape's Potions Class..."
"Oh, shit! Hurry up and wake them up, or our college will get points deducted on the first day of school!"
The upperclassmen suddenly realized, especially the prefects, that if anything happened, they would have to face the terrifying Professor Snape. Their hearts sank.
What is this thing called?
Without saying a word, the senior students started the quick wake-up process. Malfoy was still having a sweet dream when he was slapped awake by one of the senior students.
"Who dares to hit me?" Malfoy was suddenly awakened from his sleep, covering his aching face with one hand, and looked around blankly, only to see his senior standing in front of him with his hair standing on end in anger.
"Get to class now! What time is it?!" the senior student shouted angrily. So many students were sleeping here. Who knows how many points Slytherin would lose this time! Just thinking about it made me feel hopeless.
Meanwhile, the culprit had already finished his breakfast and leisurely strolled into the classroom.
The classroom was empty. He was the first to arrive. Looking at the cute little cat on the table, Chen Feng nodded slightly: "Professor McGonagall, good morning."
The tabby cat looked surprised, then leaped into the air, transforming back into human form: "How did you know it was me?"
Chen Feng naturally couldn't say that he had read the original work, but instead smiled and raised the textbook in his hand: "Today we're going to have a transformation class, aren't we?"
"Excellent, what a clever and thoughtful child." Professor McGonagall did not hold back her praise for Chen Feng, as she was equally interested in his natural magic.
Before the other students arrived, Professor McGonagall chatted with Chen Feng about the textbook content. Chen Feng immediately perked up. He had spent an entire afternoon cramming to memorize the textbook perfectly, all for this very moment. He then launched into a long and eloquent speech, occasionally throwing in a few brilliant ideas.
Professor McGonagall was overjoyed to hear this and became much happier. "I'm glad you can read this book thoroughly, but before that, you need to understand 'Theory of Magic' first. It's very dangerous to rashly try to learn Transfiguration."
Without saying a word, Chen Feng recited "Magic Theory" again, which surprised Professor McGonagall. She then said, "Thank you for your advice, but I did read 'Elementary Transfiguration Guide' only after I had thoroughly studied 'Magic Theory'."
"Mr. Chen Feng, I must say you have given me a great surprise, but just like a sponge absorbs water, even if you have memorized some knowledge, it may not necessarily belong to you. I still need to test your understanding."
“Of course, Professor McGonagall.” Chen Feng would naturally not let such a good opportunity pass by. If Professor McGonagall could put in a good word for him with Dumbledore, then opening those libraries would become much easier.
That knowledge would also be of great help to Chen Feng in other worlds, after all, magic seems to make sense, yet it also seems to make no sense at all.
Professor McGonagall, intrigued, began to test Chen Feng's grasp of the fundamentals.
In the empty classroom, the two asked and answered questions quickly.
Soon, Hermione also appeared in the class, but she did not disturb Chen Feng and Professor McGonagall. Instead, she stood quietly to the side and listened to Professor McGonagall's questioning of Chen Feng, while also trying to see if she could answer it herself.
Chen Feng was like a treasure trove of knowledge. No matter how tricky or obscure Professor McGonagall's questions were, Chen Feng could answer them without hesitation, without even much time to think. Meanwhile, Hermione was already sweating profusely.
"It's incredible! You not only memorized that knowledge, but you also successfully mastered it," Professor McGonagall exclaimed in amazement.
“You absolutely deserve Professor Dumbledore’s special regard. You know, I’m not just talking about magic. But you must remember that arrogance will lead to pride, and only humility is a wizard’s virtue.”
“I heard that you wanted Professor Dumbledore to open up more of the library area to you, but he refused. I hope you are not angry. Decades ago, there was a child as talented as you, but he went astray. Dumbledore still regrets his choice.”
“I’m not angry with Professor Dumbledore, thank you, Professor McGonagall,” Chen Feng said calmly. “But no two flowers are exactly alike, and neither are people. Even if two people have completely identical life trajectories, they may end up on completely different paths and make completely different choices.”
"I hope so." Professor McGonagall looked pleased, then waved her hand. "Class is about to start. Everyone's almost here. Go and take your seats."
Upon hearing this, Chen Feng headed towards his seat, ruffling Hermione's neat long hair along the way. Since Professor McGonagall was present, Chen Feng decided to stop while he was ahead and gave up after only making a small portion of the chicken coop.
In Chen Feng's memory, Hermione, who should have been baring her teeth and brandishing her claws long ago, seemed rather sullen and listless at this moment.
She originally thought that the difference between herself and Chen Feng was only the difference in effort. She had also memorized these books, and she could do as well as Chen Feng.
However, after experiencing Professor McGonagall's test questions for Chen Feng, Chen Feng was able to give the answers without hesitation, while Chen Feng's mind was like a mess. He thought for a long time but couldn't come up with the answers, and later he couldn't even understand the questions anymore.
She was surprised to find the gap between them was so large, so she immediately felt terrible and didn't even bother to grab Chen Feng.
Students from other colleges arrived one after another.
With class about to start, most of the Slytherin boys still hadn't arrived.
Professor McGonagall's expression gradually turned somewhat grim.
As the vice-principal of Hogwarts, such widespread tardiness had not occurred in her classes for a long time.
"Does anyone know what's going on with Slytherin?" Professor McGonagall asked coldly. "Where have all the boys gone?"
“Professor McGonagall, those boys spent the night in the common room last night and all caught a cold this morning, so the upperclassmen took them to the infirmary.”
A short-haired Slytherin girl stepped forward with a mischievous grin on her face; she loved seeing the boys get their comeuppance.
"Thank you for answering my question, but Slytherin still has to lose 5 points." Professor McGonagall, still looking displeased after learning the reason, gestured for him to sit down.
Then more wicked laughter came from the side. For the first time, she felt that if one suffered, all suffered; if one prospered, all prospered. She could no longer be happy.
"Quiet!"
"Now open your books to the first page of the first section..."
Professor McGonagall then began explaining the knowledge related to Transfiguration, interspersed with many of her own insights, but mostly consisting of popular science knowledge, such as what Transfiguration is and the dangers of Transfiguration.
The text also explains the terrible consequences of several young wizards who ignored warnings and rashly used polymorph, only finding satisfaction after the text had terrified them into trembling.
In addition, some taboos of Transfiguration were explained. For example, you cannot turn anything other than food into food, but you can turn one type of food into another or enlarge food. This is easy to understand because Transfiguration has a time limit. If you eat food that has been transformed from other items using Transfiguration, it may cause illness or danger.
Because once the time is up, the object transformed by the transfiguration will revert to its original form, and since you have already eaten the food, you can imagine how dangerous it would be.
Secondly, it cannot turn inanimate objects into living ones, or living objects into inanimate ones; polymorph cannot change the target's life level or state.
In other words, even if you turn a needle into a beetle, it is still a needle. It's like turning a table into a pig. When you cut open the pig to make steak, you only get a pile of wood. The life form hasn't changed; it's just an imitation of the appearance.
The third type is that one cannot use polymorph spells on magical items, as the two will conflict due to differences in spells and sources of magic.
This is why Animagus, with its special shapeshifting ability, can only transform into ordinary life forms, and not magical creatures.
Fourthly, the quantity must be unique. You cannot turn one thing into multiple things. While Transfiguration cannot do this, there are special copying spells that can, but these also have time limits.
The fifth rule is that you cannot create something out of nothing. You cannot use transformation magic to conjure up a substance out of thin air, even if you know it very well.
This is easy to understand. The principle of conservation of matter is that you can't create something from nothing. You can turn one thing into another, but you can't conjure something out of thin air.
All five of these are attempts to use magic to defy the laws of reality.
