"The Camarilla's summoning circle has been activated," Tian calmly reported, the rune gun emitting a faint blue light. "This water serpent is a servant of the dragon race, and after being possessed, it is no longer subject to the limitations of ordinary attacks."

Lu Mingfei gripped his short sword tightly and couldn't help but complain, "Could it get any more complicated? We can't even beat an ordinary giant snake to begin with, and now we have to deal with an enhanced version?"

Caesar shrugged, the rune sword twirling gently in his hand: "You're being too pessimistic, Mingfei. Maybe it's just a gatekeeper, not a real boss yet."

The runic sword, imbued with the power of lightning, pierced straight at its scales, sparks flying. Even so, the water serpent showed no sign of pain; instead, it became even more ferocious.

"Its defense far surpasses that of ordinary dragon servants!" Caesar shouted, his sword suddenly trembling, forcing the snake's head back. "Heavens, have you found its weakness?"

Tian's gaze remained fixed on the projection of the rune gun, the blue light sweeping across the snake's body: "The rune nodes control its behavior. As long as the core rune is destroyed, its possession state will be weakened."

"Destroy the node?" Lu Mingfei gasped for breath. "You make it sound so easy. That guy could easily move and we'd be dead!"

“There’s no choice,” Chu Zihang said coldly, the green flames growing even more intense. “We can only fight to the very end.”

The water snake raised its head and roared angrily, a powerful stream of water gushing from its huge mouth, rushing towards the four like a waterfall. Chu Zihang and Caesar quickly leaped away, while Lu Mingfei and Tian were forced to take cover behind a stone pillar.

"This guy can attack from a distance?" Lu Mingfei exclaimed. "I'm starting to think I'm fighting the Sea God!"

Tian swiftly raised his rune gun, a beam of blue energy shooting directly at the runic light on the other side of the serpent's body. As the nodes gradually weakened, the water serpent's aura noticeably diminished, and the scales on its body began to crack and fall off.

"Mingfei!" Chu Zihang roared, "Attack the node with your dagger!"

Lu Mingfei gritted his teeth, the short sword in his hand gleaming blindingly. He charged towards the snake's tail, plunging the blade near the node. The blue runes resonated with the short sword, creating a tremor.

"Done!" Lu Mingfei shouted, panting. "This guy's about to give up, isn't he?"

The water serpent let out a final, unwilling roar as its massive body gradually disintegrated, transforming into countless droplets that vanished into the air. The runes dimmed, and the entire ruins fell into a brief silence.

Caesar, leaning on his rune sword, chuckled, "It seems it really is just a gatekeeper. The real challenge is yet to come."

Chu Zihang wiped the blood from the Dragon Cutter's blade and said coldly, "The Secret Society's rituals have not stopped. We must continue forward."
