Transmigrating into a dragon clan experimental subject, is that even possible?
Chapter 248 Alchemy Experiment Base
Lu Mingfei waved his hand helplessly: "Fine, continuing to be a night watchman isn't so bad."
"Each task is clearly defined. Take immediate action." Chu Zihang issued the order, his eyes gleaming with determination.
The morning sunlight bathed the stone steps of the academy, casting a soft golden glow on the traces of last night's battle. Lu Mingfei stood on the observation deck, watching the helicopter carrying Chu Zihang's team disappear into the horizon. Though weary, his gaze held a renewed determination.
"Hold this place tighter," he said in a low voice, gripping the short knife at his waist. "No matter what tricks the Camarilla want to pull, they won't succeed so easily."
The morning light at Kassel College, though warm, could not dispel the gloom that shrouded people's hearts. With the battle in the Black Forest over, the Camarilla's actions became increasingly secretive and ruthless, and signs of the resurgence of one of the four dragon kings—the Lord of the Ocean and Water—gradually began to emerge.
Norma's latest intelligence indicates that the Camarilla has established a new runic array on a remote island in the South Pacific, far exceeding the scale of the laboratory in the Black Forest. All signs point to a dangerous possibility—a dragon monarch-level being is nearing resurgence, and this time, it is the King of the Ocean and Water.
“We have to go there.” Chu Zihang stood in the center of the war room, tracing the location of the isolated island on the projected map with his finger, his gaze cold and stern. “This is the core operational point of the Secret Society. If we cannot stop them, the resurgence of the Dragon Clan will be irreversible.”
Caesar crossed his arms, his expression still relaxed, but the fighting spirit in his eyes grew even stronger: "So, it's going to be another crazy business trip?"
“There is no room for complacency in this mission,” Tian said calmly, the rune gun in his hand emitting a faint blue light. “The scale of the Camarilla’s array indicates that this is not a simple experiment, but a direct construction of a summoning array capable of awakening the Dragon Lord.”
"That sounds exciting enough," Caesar smiled slightly. "But Chu Zihang, why are you missing a name? Ming Fei should come with us too."
Chu Zihang was silent for a moment, then finally nodded: "This battle requires the strength of everyone. Lu Mingfei must participate; his Word of Power and rune abilities are key."
Lu Mingfei was leaning against the conference room door when he heard this and couldn't help but sigh: "You lunatics always find a way to drag me down with you."
Caesar smiled and waved at him: "Welcome back, Mingfei. Ready for another heroic journey?"
Lu Mingfei walked to the table, pointed to the map, and said, "Alright, I'll go, but you have to make sure I come back alive. After all, someone has to tell these stories to future generations."
Chu Zihang's gaze was resolute: "As long as we don't give up, no one will stay on the battlefield."
Tian quickly assigned tasks: "We will reach the isolated island in the South Pacific within forty-eight hours to carry out the mission of completely destroying the summoning array. Mingfei, you are responsible for monitoring the energy fluctuations of the rune array and providing timely feedback."
Caesar patted Lu Mingfei on the shoulder with ease: "Don't worry, with us here, you don't even have to worry in your dreams."
Two days later, the helicopter hovered over the South Pacific Ocean, the surface reflecting shimmering light. A distant, isolated island appeared like a silent black stone floating in the boundless sea. However, as they drew closer, the energy fluctuations in the air created a sense of oppression for everyone.
“The energy fluctuations are extremely unstable.” Tian checked the runic device. “The Camarilla’s summoning circle is accelerating; we must act immediately.”
The helicopter landed at the edge of the island, and the four quickly disembarked. Lu Mingfei gripped his short knife tightly, a hint of tension in his eyes: "This is really a place for trouble. What if some giant sea monster suddenly appears?"
"Hopefully not, but prepare for the worst." Chu Zihang's eyes were sharp. "Move forward."
They traversed a forest corrupted by Camarilla runes, the air thick with an eerie dragonic aura. Gradually, the surroundings became unusually damp, and runic patterns formed by converging water streams became faintly visible on the ground.
Caesar frowned: "This place feels like the lair of the dragons."
"The power of the King of the Ocean and Water is gradually permeating this area," Tian said calmly. "The closer you get to the summoning circle, the greater the danger."
“It’s alright, we’re used to dancing with danger,” Caesar laughed, the rune sword emitting a faint blue light in his hand. “It’s just a battle, let it come even more fiercely.”
Suddenly, a powerful azure light erupted from the air ahead, causing the entire island to tremble. Runic energy surged from the ground, condensing into a colossal phantom of a water dragon, its aura astonishing.
“The Secret Society has activated the summoning array,” Chu Zihang said coldly, drawing his Dragon Cleaver, which ignited with bluish-green flames. “It must be destroyed immediately.”
Tian quickly locked onto the array node: "There are five core runes in total. They must be destroyed simultaneously to stop the summoning."
"Time is of the essence," Chu Zihang said in a deep voice. "Mingfei, cover us."
Lu Mingfei took a deep breath and gripped the short knife tighter: "This time I won't back down."
"Then let's fight together." Chu Zihang's voice was firm.
The four quickly dispersed, blades and runic light intertwining across the island, the prelude to battle already underway. This time, they would face the resurrected will of one of the dragon monarchs—the King of the Ocean and Water—and this battle would determine the future of the dragon race's resurgence.
The sea breeze, carrying a damp, salty scent, permeated the air, mingled with the eerie roars of dragons echoing faintly from afar. The four continued along the rugged mountain path, the ground beneath their feet gradually becoming soft and slippery, occasionally revealing bronze runes covered in vines, as if relics that had slumbered for countless years were slowly awakening.
Tian's fingers flew across the rune gun, adjusting it rapidly, blue light flashing in the darkness: "The energy fluctuations here are stronger than we expected. The Camarilla have not only set up a summoning circle, but have probably conducted numerous experiments."
Lu Mingfei stepped on a loose stone and almost slipped. He steadied himself while complaining, "These guys are really pushing themselves. Can't they choose a flatter spot to do their research?"
Caesar walked ahead of him, lazily waving his rune sword: "Mingfei, you'll have to get used to this pace. There aren't any peaceful tourist spots for you to relax in when you're doing business with the dragons."
"Leisure?" Lu Mingfei sneered. "I'd rather go back to the academy and drink milk tea."
Chu Zihang did not participate in their conversation. He remained at the forefront, the Dragon Cutter trembling slightly in his hand, as if he had sensed the danger deeper ahead. His eyes were as sharp as a hawk's, fixed on the stone gate that was gradually appearing in the distance.
"We've arrived." Chu Zihang stopped and looked around.
It was a massive alchemical ruin embedded in the mountain. The enormous stone gate was covered with ancient runes, weathered and worn by time, yet still exuding a powerful energy. The faint, shimmering azure light between the runes enveloped the entire area in an eerie atmosphere.
"This is the center of the Camarilla summoning circle?" Caesar raised an eyebrow. "To be honest, it really does resemble an ancient altar."
Tian's gaze was calm: "It's not just a summoning circle; this place is very likely one of the dragon race's former alchemical experimental bases. The Camarilla used the natural runic structure of the ruins to accelerate the ritual."
Chu Zihang nodded and said softly, "Let's go in."
They walked slowly through the stone gate, their footsteps echoing through the empty ruins. The air was damp, the walls were covered with moss and vines, and the blue light of runes flowed across the ground like winding rivers, guiding them deeper into the core.
“The layout here… doesn’t seem like a simple ruin.” Tian frowned as he observed his surroundings. “It’s more like a dragon’s laboratory that has been reactivated.”
"Activate?" Lu Mingfei looked around warily. "These runes won't suddenly pop out and attack people, will they?"
“The possibility is not small,” Tian replied calmly. “The trap set by the Camarilla could be triggered at any time.”
Lu Mingfei sighed, "That's great, I love surprises like this the most."
"Stay focused," Chu Zihang said coldly. "Report any unusual situations immediately."
The four continued forward, the runes' light growing ever more intense, and the oppressive feeling in the air gradually intensifying. They traversed a long stone staircase and finally arrived at a vast circular hall. In the center of the hall stood an altar, runic light rising from the ground and slowly converging on it, forming a semi-transparent energy field.
