"You're always so calm, it's truly admirable." Xia Mi smiled slightly, her tone tinged with a hint of teasing.

Chu Zihang did not respond; his attention remained focused on his surroundings, as if he were ready to face a sudden battle at any moment.

However, just as the group approached the edge of the ruins, the atmosphere suddenly changed, and a low roar came from all directions. The ground began to tremble slightly, and the branches and leaves of the trees rustled, as if foreshadowing some kind of danger approaching.

"Something's coming!" Tian suddenly raised his rune gun, his voice filled with tension.

"Direction?" Chu Zihang asked coldly, his steps halting.

Tian closed his eyes and sensed for a moment, then pointed to a dense forest on the left: "There! Closer, lots of them!"

"Move quickly!" Chu Zihang gave the order decisively, turning around to protect the rear of the team.

Caesar and Tian quickly positioned themselves on either side, their rune guns and swords poised for action. Lu Mingfei was pulled forward by Xia Mi, and when he glanced back, he could only see countless pairs of eyes flashing red light in the dark forest, like messengers of death.

"Don't look!" Xia Mi whispered, her voice carrying a rare hint of urgency. "Run!"

Lu Mingfei was startled by her tone and quickened his pace. He could feel that Xia Mi's palms were a little cold, but her strength was surprisingly steady, making him feel as if he were completely protected by an invisible barrier.

"They're here!" The moment Tian's voice faded, several enormous figures leaped from the darkness. They were alien creatures resembling dragons, smaller than ordinary dragons, yet far more agile and cunning. Their scales gleamed a dark red under the moonlight, and their sharp claws flashed with a cold light.

Chu Zihang's Dragon Cleaver slashed across the neck of an alien with swift and precise movements, causing blood to gush out instantly. Caesar, meanwhile, used his rune sword to block another attacking alien; the moment the blade clashed with its claws, a piercing metallic sound erupted.

"There are too many!" Tian shouted as he fired, his rune gun emitting intense beams of light, but he still couldn't completely suppress the endless stream of aliens.

"Hold on!" Chu Zihang said coldly. A flash of light appeared, and another alien fell at his feet.

Lu Mingfei stood at the back of the group, a short knife in his hand, his face pale. His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would jump out of his chest, but he knew he couldn't hold them back any longer. He took a deep breath, gripped the knife tightly, and gritted his teeth, preparing to rush forward to help.

However, just as he took a step, Xia Mi's hand grabbed his wrist again.

"Don't move." Her voice was low and calm, but her gaze carried an undeniable power.

“But…” Lu Mingfei subconsciously wanted to refute, but Xia Mi had already turned her head to look at him, the smile on her face disappeared, replaced by an unprecedented calmness and determination.

"Listen to me, this is not something you can handle," Xia Mi said softly, then looked up at Chu Zihang, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.

She released Lu Mingfei's hand, took a few steps forward, and stood in the center of the group. She raised her hand, her index finger lightly touching the air, a slight smile playing on her lips, and murmured something softly.

A faint yet eerie aura emanated from her, causing the aliens that were lunging at the group to abruptly halt, their movements slowing as if suppressed by some unseen force. An ancient and mysterious rhythm filled the air, like the whispers of an ancient abyss.

Chu Zihang glanced back at Xia Mi, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes, but he didn't have time to ask further. He simply ordered in a deep voice, "Take care of them quickly! Don't delay!"

The rest of the team went all out, and the aliens were wiped out in just a few minutes. Xia Mi, however, remained standing in place, her gaze deep, as if she were looking at something only she could see.

As the last alien fell, the battlefield returned to deathly silence, the air thick with the stench of blood. Caesar flicked the blood off his sword, glanced around, and chuckled, "Finally done. These guys were really annoying."

Panting, Tian put down the rune gun and frowned, saying, "There were too many of them. If they hadn't suddenly slowed down, we probably wouldn't have had it so easy."

Chu Zihang put away the Dragon Slayer sword and turned his gaze to Xia Mi. She remained standing in the same spot, looking down at the bloodstains at her feet, her expression unreadable.

"Did you do that just now?" Chu Zihang's voice was calm, but it carried an unavoidable sharpness.

Xia Mi raised her head, a smile returning to her face, but with a hint of innocence: "Chu Zihang, what are you talking about? I didn't do anything."

"The aura emanating from you caused those aliens to pause." Chu Zihang looked directly into her eyes, his voice low. "Explain."

Xia Mi shrugged and said with a smile, "Perhaps you are too powerful, even the minions of the dragons are afraid of you, aren't they?"

Caesar narrowed his eyes, raising his rune sword slightly: "Xia Mi, I admit you're special, but it's best not to let people think you're a mystery. We don't like to work with mysteries."

"A mystery?" Xia Mi covered her mouth and chuckled softly, turning to look at Caesar. "Caesar, you have quite the imagination. I'm just an ordinary student, why would I become a mystery?"

“Your ‘ordinary’ doesn’t seem ordinary at all,” Caesar retorted, his tone laced with amusement.

Chu Zihang did not participate in their conversation. He simply stared at Xia Mi quietly, his gaze so deep it seemed to pierce through her disguise. After a moment, he spoke: "No matter who you are, or what you are hiding, as long as you are still on our side, I will not pursue the matter."

Xia Mi was slightly taken aback, then gave a bright smile: "Don't worry, I'll always be on your side, always."

Lu Mingfei stood to the side, listening to their conversation, his mind filled with doubt. He scratched his head and whispered, "Xia Mi is really amazing, but... should we just trust her like that?"

Tian patted Lu Mingfei on the shoulder and whispered, "Don't overthink it, Chu Zihang knows what he's doing. We just need to complete the mission, and leave the rest to the captain."

Chu Zihang didn't press the matter further. He turned to look at the now-calm forest and said coldly, "We can't delay any longer. We need to leave here."

The group tacitly packed up their gear and set off again. Xia Mi walked in the middle of the group, her gaze occasionally sweeping over Chu Zihang's back, a faint smile always on her lips, as if she didn't care about what had just happened.

Lu Mingfei couldn't help but lean closer to her and whisper, "Xia Mi, are you sure you haven't done anything strange?"

"No." Xia Mi tilted her head to look at him, her smile bright. "Lu, are you starting to doubt me too?"

"I..." Lu Mingfei was speechless for a moment when asked the question, and scratched his head. "I don't doubt it, it's just... I feel like you are much more capable than all of us."

"That's because you guys are so amazing, I can't help but be amazing too." Xia Mi winked playfully and patted his shoulder gently. "Don't overthink it, just stick with the group and don't fall behind."

Lu Mingfei paused for a moment, then could only nod and quicken his pace to catch up with Chu Zihang and Caesar ahead.

As Xia Mi walked at the back, out of sight of the group, her gaze slightly narrowed. She raised her hand and gently touched the edge of her sleeve, where a faint trace of dragon aura lingered, like a silent warning.

"The danger is closer than I thought," Xia Mi thought to herself, then put on a relaxed smile and continued to follow the group as if nothing had happened.

As the group ventured deeper into the dense forest, the air grew increasingly heavy. Chu Zihang remained at the forefront, his Dragon Cutter slightly drawn, its sharpness subtly revealed. Caesar walked on the flanks, his runic sword gleaming coldly in the sunlight. Tian and Lu Mingfei were responsible for rear guard duty, but their expressions were clearly tense.

Xia Mi walked in the middle, her steps light and quick, her signature smile still on her face. However, her bright eyes would occasionally scan the surroundings, a hint of hidden complexity in her gaze.

Finally, Chu Zihang stopped and gestured for the group to halt. Everyone immediately became alert, their gazes focusing ahead. In a wide-open space, a massive altar stood. The altar was surrounded by runes and ancient carvings unique to the dragon race, and at its very center was a huge fissure emitting a dark, eerie light.
