Xia Mi watched his movements quietly from behind, her gaze focused and gentle, as if at this moment, Chu Zihang was the only one in her eyes. She didn't show the slightest tension; instead, a faint sense of emotion welled up in her heart—this person was still as strong as before, as focused as before.

The dragon's movements grew increasingly sluggish, and Chu Zihang and Caesar's coordinated attack completely suppressed it. Taking advantage of the situation, Caesar charged in from the side, his rune sword plunging deep into the dragon's chest. A burst of intense light erupted from the wound. The dragon let out a final roar, its massive body crashing to the ground.

After the battle, Chu Zihang sheathed the Dragon Slayer sword and turned to look at Xia Mi. His gaze remained calm, but his tone carried a hint of reproach: "Why didn't you follow orders?"

Xia Mi shrugged, a smug smile on her face: "I didn't disobey you, I just felt that if we were too far away, I wouldn't be able to see your fight clearly."

Chu Zihang stared at her, remained silent for a moment, and ultimately said nothing more. He knew Xia Mi was doing this on purpose, but that was always her personality, and saying anything more would be pointless.

"Don't do that again," he said softly, his tone cold but revealing a hint of undisguised concern.

"Okay, I know." Xia Mi blinked, her smile as bright as ever. "But you were really cool just now, Chu Zihang."

Chu Zihang did not respond, but turned around and continued to examine the dragon's corpse. His movements were as swift and efficient as ever, as if the conversation had never happened.

Xia Mi stood there, her gaze following his retreating figure, the smile on her lips gradually fading. She raised her hand and gently touched her chest, as if suppressing some unspeakable emotion. After a moment, she smiled brightly again and stepped back to join the group.

In the forest where the thick fog had dissipated, only she knew that the emotion she felt was not simple; it was a complex feeling buried deep in her memory, intertwined with protection, guilt, and some indescribable obsession.

After cleaning up the scene, the group continued forward. The stench of blood in the air gradually dissipated, replaced by a profound stillness. Chu Zihang walked at the very front of the group, his eyes alert, his Dragon Cutter gripped tightly, always on guard. Caesar and Tianyi flanked him on either side, while Xia Mi and Lu Mingfei were positioned in the middle.

Lu Mingfei kept stealing glances at Xia Mi, his mind still replaying her relaxed demeanor when facing danger. He felt that Xia Mi wasn't joking, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what was strange about her.

"What are you looking at me like that for?" Xia Mi suddenly spoke, her tone slightly teasing.

"N-nothing..." Lu Mingfei quickly looked away, fiddling with the short knife in his hand. He hesitated for a few seconds, then asked in a low voice, "That dragon just now, it seemed very interested in you? I mean, why did it suddenly stare at you like that?"

Xia Mi smiled slightly and said in a light tone, "Maybe it's because I'm too cute that even monsters can't help but take a second look."

“How is this possible…” Lu Mingfei muttered, although he knew Xia Mi was joking, his doubts did not diminish.

Xia Mi didn't explain further, but simply patted his shoulder gently: "Don't overthink it, Lu. Just do your own thing and leave the rest to them."

Lu Mingfei nodded, but his feelings grew increasingly complicated. He glanced at Chu Zihang ahead, hesitating whether to tell him his questions, but then thought he might just be overthinking things.

Just then, Caesar's voice came from ahead, breaking their conversation: "Watch out, there's something ahead."

The group stopped and followed Caesar's pointing finger. A dilapidated building, resembling an abandoned altar, was vaguely visible among the trees ahead, surrounded by vines and moss. An ancient and mysterious aura permeated the air, creating a sense of unease.

Chu Zihang walked to the front and carefully observed the structure of the altar. His gaze lingered on the runes in the center of the altar for a moment, and he said in a low voice, "This is the remains of the Dragon Clan... It is very likely related to the Secret Society."

"Could the Camarilla members still be nearby?" Tian gripped his rune gun tightly, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily.

“It’s very likely.” Chu Zihang nodded, then turned to Caesar. “Take Tian and clear the area to ensure safety.”

"Understood." Caesar sheathed his rune sword and quickly dispersed with Tian to begin scouting the surrounding area.

Chu Zihang turned to look at Xia Mi and Lu Mingfei, his tone calm: "You two stay here and don't go near the altar."

“Okay.” Lu Mingfei nodded and stood obediently in place, but found that Xia Mi did not respond. He turned to look at her and found that she was staring at the altar with deep eyes, and the smile on her face had disappeared at some point.

"Xia Mi?" Lu Mingfei called out tentatively.

Xia Mi snapped out of her daze, her smile instantly returning to normal. She gently shook her head, her tone still relaxed: "Don't worry, I won't do anything reckless."

Chu Zihang glanced at her, seemingly sensing something was amiss, but ultimately said nothing, turned and walked towards the altar to examine the incomplete parts of the runes.

Xia Mi's gaze followed his retreating figure, her eyes revealing a complex mix of emotions. She lowered her head and sighed softly, her fingers unconsciously stroking her sleeves as if suppressing some kind of emotion.

Lu Mingfei couldn't help but ask, "Are you really alright? Why do I keep feeling like you're a little..."

"What?" Xia Mi looked up at him, a faint smile on her lips. "Do you think there's something strange about me?"

Lu Mingfei hesitated for a moment, then shook his head: "Never mind, maybe I'm overthinking it."

"Hmm, maybe so." Xia Mi didn't deny it, but turned her head to continue looking at the altar, her gaze seeming to become even more profound.

Not far away, Chu Zihang was using the Dragon Cutter to peel away the vines covering the runes on the altar. His movements were careful and precise, each cut wasted. Suddenly, he paused, his gaze locking onto a hidden rune. That rune emitted a faint glow, as if it had just been activated.

"There's a problem," Chu Zihang said in a low voice, a hint of tension in his tone.

The moment his words fell, the ground in the center of the altar suddenly began to tremble, and a strange energy fluctuation permeated the surrounding air. The light on the runes gradually intensified, eventually transforming into a dazzling red beam that shot into the sky.

"Back off!" Chu Zihang suddenly turned around and shouted at Xia Mi and Lu Mingfei. At the same time, he gripped the Dragon Cutter and rushed towards the source of the red light, trying to stop what was about to happen.

Xia Mi stood motionless, her gaze fixed on the red light, a strange glint in her eyes. After a moment, she gently raised her hand, as if touching some invisible barrier.

"Xia Mi!" Chu Zihang's voice was filled with a sense of oppression.

Xia Mi turned to look at him, her face still bearing her usual smile. With a gentle wave of her hand, the red light dimmed slightly.

“Don’t worry,” she said softly, “I won’t let it hurt you.”

Chu Zihang abruptly stopped, the Dragon Cutter trembling slightly in mid-air. His gaze was fixed on Xia Mi's face, his expression deep and wary. His intuition told him that the scene before him was far more complex than it appeared, and Xia Mi's actions were even more unexpected.

"What did you just do?" Chu Zihang asked in a low voice, his tone calm but with a hint of interrogation.

Xia Mi slowly withdrew her hand, casually patting the dust off her palm. Then she looked up at him with a bright smile: "It's nothing, I just thought the light was too bright, so I wanted to quiet it down a bit."

“This is no ordinary light.” Chu Zihang’s tone remained icy, his Dragon Cutter slightly tilted, ready to act at any moment. “Your actions show that you know what this is.”

Xia Mi blinked, her smile unchanged, but her tone became slightly teasing: "Chu Zihang, are you doubting me? I'm just trying to help you guys."

Chu Zihang did not answer; his gaze was sharp as a knife, clearly unmoved by her nonchalant words.

Lu Mingfei stood to the side, his mind a complete mess. Watching the standoff between the two, he couldn't help but ask, "Wait, Chu Zihang, she's one of ours, she won't harm us, will she?"

Chu Zihang's gaze did not leave Xia Mi, and his voice was low: "Lu Mingfei, this is not a question of whether she will harm us, but rather that she knows too much about the things here."
