Since this is the foundation of cultivation, let's start with the universally acknowledged general principles of cultivation.

Humanity is:

Through countless ages of cultivation, one begins with spiritual practice; through a thousand trials and tribulations, one returns to one's original nature.

Gathering spiritual energy and creating vital energy to build a foundation, condensing patterns to open the orifices and nourish the primordial embryo.

When the embryo is formed and the method is condensed, the ethereal spirit is born; when the spirit is full, one enters the Great Dao.

When the body and the Tao unite, one can enter the realm of truth; after nine tribulations of transformation, one becomes an immortal.

This shows that, from ancient times to the present, spiritual practice has always begun with the awakening of the spirit.

So, what is spiritual awakening?

What should be used to activate the spirit?

What kind of spirit is being activated?

What is the spirit?

I'm sure many of you here have these questions.

Don't worry, I will explain it to you clearly and thoroughly next.

First, we need to figure out what 'spirit' is.

'Ling' is also known as spiritual energy or spiritual inspiration.

Spiritual energy is an innate energy mechanism that resonates with the sun, moon, stars, and heaven and earth.

There are many kinds of spirits, each containing different attributes and abilities.

For example, the Fire Spirit's attribute is fire.

Activating the fire spirit will ignite flames and release high temperatures.

We can also control the Fire Spirit with precision.

This allows for the creation of various powerful fire-based magical abilities.

For example, Fireball, Fire Dragon, etc.

The attributes of spirits are diverse.

The most common elements are metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.

These are what we commonly refer to as the Five Elements.

There are also other attributes such as Yin, Yang, Light, Dark, Ice, Thunder, and Wind.

These are what we call heterogeneous attributes.

Before ancient times, every corner of our world was filled with abundant spiritual energy.

However, a great war later caused the sun and moon to change.

This led to the gradual depletion of spiritual energy on the continent.

To ensure that cultivators could cultivate normally, the ancient powerful beings united to divide the world.

That's how the celestial realm and the mortal realm came into being.

Currently, only the Immortal Realm still possesses a large amount of spiritual energy.

The spiritual energy of the mortal realm has almost disappeared, turning it into a place devoid of spiritual energy.

Although there are spirits in the celestial realm, their distribution is extremely uneven.

Places rich in spiritual energy are mostly occupied by sects.

The spiritual energy in other places is very thin.

It can only be considered barely enough to support cultivation.

Of course, there are also some places with abundant spiritual energy that have not been occupied by sects.

However, these places are mostly frequented by independent cultivators.

Spiritual energy also has different attributes.

The distribution of spiritual energy of different attributes varies greatly in different geographical locations.

For example, places with abundant water resources tend to have more water-rich soil.

Near volcanoes, there are many fire spirits.

Near metal deposits, gold spirits are abundant.

The spiritual stone veins are mostly filled with attribute-less spiritual energy.

The elemental spiritual energy is provided to everyone for cultivation.

Therefore, most sects are established on spirit stone veins.

Our Qingyun Sword Sect, with its various branches, is also built upon mineral veins.

Next, we will begin to explain spiritual roots.

Everyone here should know why they were able to come to the Immortal Realm.

They should also understand why they are able to cultivate immortality.

That's right, it's because you all possess the talent and aptitude for cultivating immortality.

Does that mean those who weren't selected lack talent or aptitude?

In fact, all sentient beings possess certain innate talents and qualities.

But these are all relative terms.

They all have talent, but it's too weak.

The vast majority of them have hidden spiritual roots or illusory spiritual roots.

Such a spiritual root has too many impurities.

This also makes it almost impossible for them to sense the spiritual energy in the outside world.

Therefore, it is difficult for them to embark on the path to immortality.

Where does the spiritual root come from?

As we discussed before, spiritual energy is innate.

In other words, the universe originally contained spiritual energy.

All living things and all kinds of races are born after birth.

Therefore, in primitive times, living beings did not possess spiritual roots and were unable to cultivate themselves.

But why can I cultivate now?

That's because beings born after birth, being born between heaven and earth, are inevitably influenced by heaven and earth.

Therefore, all living beings born after birth have undergone adaptive transformations under the long-term influence of the spiritual energy of heaven and earth.

Whether it is human primates or birds and beasts.

Whether it's snakes, insects, rats, ants, or even plant spirits and monsters.

This is true.

And we humans, naturally, also underwent adaptive transformations.

This transformation is reflected in one's innate talents and aptitudes, such as spiritual roots, spiritual body, and physical constitution.

With these talents and aptitudes, one can utilize the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to gradually transform and strengthen oneself, thus embarking on the path of cultivation.

This is why almost all sects value talent and aptitude when recruiting disciples.

The process of assessing qualifications upon entry is essentially a process of selecting the best from the worst innate talents.

Uh, back to the main topic.

Humans developed spiritual roots as they adapted to the world.

Furthermore, due to the different regions where humans live, their spiritual root attributes also differ.

The attributes of spiritual roots correspond to the attributes of the spiritual energy of heaven and earth.

Therefore, it is also divided into five elements attributes and different types of attributes.

However, the five elements are the most common.

It's just that it has unusual properties and is relatively rare.

In addition, spiritual roots have two other very important characteristics.

These two characteristics are usually used to judge the quality of spiritual roots.

One of its characteristics is the purity of its spiritual root.

The ancients divided the purity of spiritual roots into ten levels.

Starting from zero, each additional 10% represents a grade, with a total of ten grades.

They are: Hidden, Illusory, False, Mixed, True, Jade, Human, Earth, Heaven, and Extreme.

Of course, there is another way to divide the immortal realm.

Concealment, falsehood, and deception are classified as inferior.
