The Road to Godhood in Honor of Kings

Chapter 74 Preliminary Selection

The day is over, and today marks the opening of the city competition.

The venue for the competition was a stadium in Pingshan City. After all, e-sports has been officially recognized as a sport. Of course, this has little to do with the competition venue.

"Damn, I've never been to a stadium before, I never imagined it would be this big!" Sun Wukong exclaimed.

"You've never seen anything like this before!" the fat man said, but he had already started looking around.

Huge posters and other advertisements were displayed outside the stadium, which was already packed with people.

Soon, Han Cheng and his team arrived at the designated venue for the competition. The opening ceremony was scheduled to start at nine o'clock, so with fifteen minutes to spare, Han Cheng played a 1v1 match to practice.

Soon, the opening ceremony began. A girl with short hair walked onto the stage. She was a cute female host. After giving a few brief opening remarks, she began to introduce the competition rules.

"This competition will last for three days. The preliminary rounds will be held this morning. According to statistics, there are 24 teams participating. The top 12 will be determined this morning... The remaining matches will be completed tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, at which time the overall champion will be determined... The overall champion will receive a prize of 60,000 yuan, a trophy, and a signed poster of Snow, one of the strongest teams in KPL..." In short, after explaining the rules, there was a barrage of threats and inducements, no, only inducements.

"Oh, right, there's one more thing to mention. The Pingshan City competition of the King of Glory Campus Championship recently concluded at Pingshan No. 1 Middle School. According to the rules, the winning team will get a chance to revive. I wonder if this team is here today?" The host raised his voice considerably and looked at the crowd below the stage. Han Cheng had no choice but to have Sun Hou raise his hand to indicate that they were the winning team of the King of Glory Campus Championship.

"Let's give them a round of applause; they'll get a chance to be revived in this competition..."

However, the host's words were clearly ineffective. Very few people applauded; the applause was filled with jealousy and disdain. "He's only in high school. Why isn't he studying properly? What's the point of participating in a competition? He just won a campus tournament. What's so great about that?"

However, Han Cheng didn't care much about this empty title and the so-called revival opportunity. With the strength of his team, did they even need to be revived?

"Let's go in," Han Cheng said. The host had just announced that the participating teams had entered the competition area. The so-called competition area was just a few tables where the teams would face off face-to-face. There was only one chance in the preliminary rounds; if you lost, you would be eliminated, so you couldn't afford to lose. However, Han Cheng and his team didn't think they would lose yet; they were confident.

Han Cheng and his team arrived at the "competition venue" and began testing their equipment, such as headsets and mobile phones, to ensure there would be no problems and to facilitate communication and discussion of tactics and strategies. Actually, Han Cheng and his team rarely used headsets during training, as wearing them for extended periods would be uncomfortable and inconvenient.

Looking at the opposing team, they were only about fifteen or sixteen years old, probably no older than a first-year high school student, and likely middle school students.

"The other side looks like trash, let's pick a strong lineup," the fat man said, and Sun Wukong chimed in, saying it was a good idea.

"I think we shouldn't underestimate them. What if they know how to play their game?" Han Cheng said.

“Yeah, I think so too. Better safe than sorry,” Xu Xiaomeng added.

"Alright, let's play the lineup we've been using lately," Sun Wukong said.

"Row!"

The referee first had the captains of the two teams shake hands, and then announced the start of the match.

Enter the created room, start the game, and enter the ban/pick phase.

Aside from the possibility of Han Xin being picked, Han Cheng wasn't worried about Sun Wukong being taken. Sun Wukong's hero pool was too shallow; it was practically a hero bowl. Apart from Sun Wukong, he didn't really know how to play many heroes. Therefore, Han Cheng specifically asked Sun Wukong to practice more heroes to expand his hero pool. Sun Wukong was quite obedient, playing through most common warriors and assassins, and he also had a few heroes he was comfortable using, which he could use in actual combat later.

"Monkey, grab Han Xin for me first," Han Cheng said.

"Okay!" Sun Wukong gave him a flirtatious wink.

Miracle Team had the first move, so Sun Wukong banned heroes first, allowing them to pick Han Xin.

"Hehe, little Guan Guan, don't blame me for being ruthless!" Sun Wukong banned Guan Yu again, for reasons you all know.

The opposing team didn't hold back either, banning Luna. It seems Guan Yu and Luna won't be able to play this game.

"Don't dream dreams that can't be realized!"

Sun Wukong picked Han Xin directly. There was nothing he could do; if Han Xin hadn't been chosen first, he probably would have been snatched away.

The opposing team picked a Monkey King and a Zhao Yun.

Subsequently, the Miracle Team assembled the desired lineup. Except for Monkey King, who was picked by another player, Monkey King chose Old Master instead. Sun Wukong thought this hero was also very useful. Although Old Master is a niche hero, a well-developed Old Master can definitely take on two opponents at once. Moreover, his second skill can dodge all physical damage. However, his role is a bit awkward. He is too fragile to be considered a warrior, and too lacking in mobility to be considered an assassin. His output is also insufficient in the early game, and his development period is relatively long. Therefore, he is not favored and has become one of the niche heroes.

The final lineup for Team Miracle was: top laner Lu Bu with Execute, mid laner Ying Zheng with Flash, jungler Han Xin with Smite, ADC Genghis Khan with Swiftness, and support Zhong Wuyan with Heal.

The opposing team's lineup consisted of a top laner (Monkey King) with Execute, a mid laner (Diao Chan) with Purify, a jungler (Zhao Yun) with Smite, an ADC (Sun Shangxiang) with Heal, and a support (Niu Mo) with Execute.

The opposing team's lineup is a relatively strong early-game composition, but Miracle Team is no less powerful, and perhaps even stronger. Of course, judging the outcome solely based on lineup composition is unrealistic.

The opposing team's lineup was clearly well-thought-out. Diao Chan and Sun Shangxiang are perennial favorites in the current version's mid-lane and marksman roles, respectively. Anyone who plays these two positions will know how to play these two heroes to some extent, as they are simply too strong. However, the opposing team's ID was quite funny.

Funny: Top Laner, Funny: Mid Laner, Funny: Jungler, Funny Marksman, Funny: Support, can you say it's not funny?

That's absolutely hilarious!

"Same old plan, Zhong Wuyan and I will go," Han Cheng said. Han Cheng and Zhong Wuyan would go to the enemy jungle to steal buffs and, if possible, get a kill. The ADC would go to their own base to take the red buff, Ying Zheng would push the lane, and the top laner would take the blue buff or defend the top lane tower. Genghis Khan in the bottom lane could go directly to the bottom lane after taking the red buff; his speed after entering the bushes was incredible, and as a mounted hero, he was very useful for defending the bottom lane tower. There was no need to worry about the red buff being wasted or stolen by the enemy, because Han Cheng's special ability was formidable. However, Han Cheng didn't plan to use his special ability this game; he would use it tomorrow or the day after.
