The Road to Godhood in Honor of Kings

Chapter 60 The Old Teacher's Birthday (Part 1)

The next day, Sunday.

"Knock knock knock..." The phone rang.

"Damn it, I clearly turned off the alarm yesterday!" Han Cheng picked up his phone impatiently. It was only a little past ten o'clock, why was he getting up so early? Upon closer inspection, it wasn't an alarm clock, but a phone call. Han Cheng's phone ringtone was the same as the alarm clock's, that song called "Higher." The caller was his homeroom teacher.

"Does she want me to help her rank up again, or has she gotten into some trouble and needs me to help her out?" Han Cheng thought to himself. Although he didn't want to answer, he had no choice but to answer the phone, considering it was his old teacher.

"Hello, teacher? How can I help you?" Han Cheng answered the phone with a polite opening.

"Stop talking nonsense, I'm calling because it's very important," the homeroom teacher said. "Very important?" Han Cheng was shocked. Did the teacher have cancer?

"What is it?" Han Cheng suppressed his curiosity.

"Mmm." The homeroom teacher cleared her throat. "Everyone has one most important day every year, and this is it!"

"The most important day? Every year? Isn't it every month?" (Dirty...) Han Cheng continued to play dumb: "Did you get a promotion? A raise?"

"..." The homeroom teacher was somewhat helpless, but if she knew Han Cheng's true guess, she would probably spit out a mouthful of blood.

"Of course it's your birthday! It happens every year!" The homeroom teacher's voice was so loud that Han Cheng's phone almost flew up (just like when Bald Qiang was talking to that boss on the phone, right, what cartoon was that again?).

"Oh? I see! What kind of gift do you want?" Han Cheng asked again.

"Am I the kind of person who only cares about profit? What kind of gift do you want?" The homeroom teacher said this without thinking, and afterwards felt a pang of heartache. My gift!

"So, does that mean all I need to do is show up and bring my mouth?" Han Cheng asked somewhat shamelessly.

"Yes... meet me at my place at 5:30 tonight. You know the address, right?"

"I think I forgot..."

"(`Δ?)! I'll text you the address in a bit!" The homeroom teacher, barely containing his anger, texted Han Cheng with the address. Then he realized something was amiss. Han Cheng had once helped him rank up and even saved him from a difficult situation, so he'd notified him first. He hadn't notified the other students yet. And these students, of course, were his own students—after all, he didn't have many friends. However, it seemed he did have one—a friend, I suppose—but he wondered if she (a girl!) would have time to come…

Then, the homeroom teacher sent a text message to the group of people who hoped to attend her birthday party, and only then did she happily continue to sleep.

"Damn, where am I again?" Han Cheng was exasperated. The address his homeroom teacher sent was too straightforward; he was afraid he wouldn't understand it and wouldn't be able to get there. Things like "a few meters from the neighborhood" and "behind the big tree"—even someone with no sense of direction could understand it. After reading the message, Han Cheng wanted to continue, but unfortunately, he couldn't fall asleep anymore. Learning from this experience, Han Cheng decided to turn off his alarm and put it on Do Not Disturb mode next weekend to get a good night's sleep.

"Hmm?" Xu Xiaomeng, who was scrolling through WeChat Moments and QQ Space, received a text message from her teacher: Xiaomeng, today is my birthday. I hope you can come to my birthday party. See you at 5:30! The address was completely different from the one she sent to Han Cheng; it was just the usual one.

"It's our homeroom teacher's birthday! Should we go or not? Oh well, I'll go, and bring a gift too!" Xu Xiaomeng said before continuing her work.

Ye Bing and Sun Hou also received similar text messages. After thinking about it, they decided to go. After all, it was their homeroom teacher's birthday, and he invited them, the students. What reason was there not to go?

Finally, there's Fatty. He was incredibly excited to see it was Xiao Yezi's birthday and naturally had to go, but first he needed to prepare a gift! What should he give? What should he give? What should he give? (I'll say it three times because it's important!)

Of course, it wasn't over yet. The mysterious lady invited by the homeroom teacher looked helpless when she saw the text message. "She really knows how to pick her birthday time! I'm busy today!" So she replied to the homeroom teacher, "I don't have time today, I really can't get away, sorry!" Then she sent a greeting (What? She won't even let you see the greeting? That's right, if you knew the greeting, wouldn't you know their relationship? Then what would be the suspense?).

Of course, the homeroom teacher, who was taking a beauty nap at the moment, didn't have time to be disappointed by her friend's inability to help (I don't know if this is the right word to use).

"Legendary!" It turned out that Han Cheng had created a 1v3 AI in his home and was playing like a god, venting his frustration at being disturbed while sleeping.

"Scream if you want, it's the last time anyway!" Han Cheng was playing Jing Ke, a hero with strong reaping abilities, just so he wouldn't have to go home and could kill people online. If you ever have any unhappy things in the future, or if you want to commit suicide (well, that's a bit unrealistic, but there are many people who commit suicide because of stress these days), you can follow Han Cheng's example and "kill" to vent and relieve stress.

"Haven't won my first match yet?" Han Cheng opened the 1V1 interface, aiming to win his first game before having lunch.

"Didn't Miyamoto get reworked? Let's play a bit..." Han Cheng said, selecting Miyamoto. The lines were the same, but the entrance animation was different. His skills had undergone a huge change. His first skill was no longer a tornado that could knock enemies into the air, but a sword aura that could shoot down enemy projectiles (including Hou Yi's ultimate, Daji's heart, Diao Chan's flower ball, even Zhong Kui's hook and artillery shells; it seems ranged minions' basic attacks also work). His second skill only had one dash, but in the late game, it had almost no cooldown if it passed through an enemy. His ultimate had a much longer cooldown, reaching a terrifying 80 seconds, with a longer flight time and the ability to enhance skills. His first skill could once again briefly knock enemies into the air, his second skill's range was slightly longer, and his basic attacks now dealt magic damage and provided a speed boost. Now, Miyamoto was a warrior, focusing on building tank items in the early game, and in the late game, he could instantly kill half-health squishy targets upon landing, even if they were semi-tanky.

Looking at the opposing team, the new hero, [Alchemy Master] Taiyi Zhenren, is a support/magic tank. In a one-on-one fight, he shouldn't be too strong, right?

However, Han Cheng was wrong.

He got the first blood with his Miyamoto and then went on a killing spree, only to see on the scoreboard that this guy was still two thousand gold ahead of him.

What does this mean? Normally, when I'm dominating the enemy, I'd have a gold lead of at least several thousand, but this time I'm actually behind? Isn't Taiyi Zhenren's passive only supposed to increase the gold gained from killing minions and monsters by 20%? How can it be so much?

Although the opponent's passive ability is somewhat overpowered, the player is incompetent, and in a one-on-one fight, Miyamoto still has few rivals, as does this Taiyi Zhenren.

"I'm invincible!" Miyamoto Musashi unleashed his ultimate skill, [Niten Ichi-ryu], knocking Taiyi Zhenren into the air after a brief delay. Upon landing, he used his first skill to knock Taiyi Zhenren up as well. Han Cheng, having already equipped a penetration bow, dealt significant damage to Taiyi Zhenren. Although Taiyi Zhenren is a tank, he quickly lost half his health. Taiyi Zhenren's damage output is extremely limited. His first skill has a short charge time and deals no damage, while a full charge misses the target... While one could use the first skill first and then the second skill to close the gap, the second skill stops upon encountering a unit, so hiding behind minions is sufficient. Even without minions, it's easy to dodge... As for his ultimate, allies killed within three seconds of its activation (including himself) can be resurrected, but this is easily countered. Just unleash your ultimate, and they won't attack you!
