The Road to Godhood in Honor of Kings

Chapter 3 My Goddess Desk Mate and Class Teacher

"Let me tell you guys! Yesterday I was playing on my smurf account, and I crushed the enemy team in the early game. After that, I started to dominate the battlefield. I even had a Li Bai by my side, and I generously gave him a few kills, but I still got a godlike streak..." In the classroom, Sun Wukong was boasting enthusiastically when someone walked over and quietly patted him on the shoulder.

"Little Cheng! You scared me to death!" Sun Wukong said, then tried to continue boasting.

"Stop bragging! Is your alternate account ID something like 'Invincible'?" Han Cheng asked.

"That's right!" Sun Wukong exclaimed in surprise, "How did you know?"

"Hmph, stop pretending. Yesterday, it was clearly my Li Bai who gave you kills and made you go godlike!" Han Cheng said with a dark face. "And yesterday, the Monkey King who hadn't even leveled up yet was someone else playing for you, right? You saw him getting ahead, so you grabbed the phone to play. Do you think I don't know how you play with that fancy style?"

"Holy crap!" Sun Hou exclaimed again, "So that 'Black Knight' thing is your new ID! I was wondering why that sneaky playstyle... I've seen it before..." Sun Hou probably wanted to show off his literary talent, but unfortunately, his vocabulary wasn't enough, so he only managed to say "seen it." Han Cheng had been playing King of Glory with a few close friends, including Sun Hou, so they knew each other's playstyles very well. Han Cheng played a more sneaky, cautious style, rarely taking unnecessary risks; but Sun Hou, once he got ahead, would become incredibly reckless, and his awareness was terrible, completely oblivious to danger. He probably had someone guiding him when he used Miyamoto that day, which is why he handled the details so well.

"How about it? Want to play a few more games during lunch break?" Han Cheng said, "I'm only Platinum, and your main account is already Diamond!" (The previous mention of Diamond was not a typo; it was a playful way of referring to the character, just like Diamond.)

"Don't even mention it! I sold the big one!" Sun Wukong said helplessly, "It only sold for 120! What a loss! What a loss!"

Although Sun Wukong said he lost money, Han Cheng knew he didn't. That account didn't have many skins; he only spent one yuan to reach VIP level 1, and that VIP level had been discontinued long ago. Besides the slightly higher rank, there wasn't much else to it. He figured Sun Wukong must have tricked some elementary school student into selling it for 120 yuan.

"Holy crap!" came a surprised exclamation. The voice sounded powerful and strong, definitely belonging to a heavyweight.

"The monkey sold his account? That crappy account? And he sold it for 120?"

The owner of the voice was a young man with a strong physique, not strong but rather chubby, named Guo Lizhuo, nicknamed Fatty (it seems that fat people are often nicknamed Fatty).

"Hey Fatty, that's not a fair thing to say!" Sun Wukong said with a look of disdain. "This is a legendary account that a god personally leveled up to Diamond II. I wouldn't sell it to you even if you wanted it!"

"You call yourself a master? I think you're more like an old lady!" the fat man said with disdain.

At this point, Han Cheng remembered something. He asked Sun Wukong, "By the way, Monkey, you still haven't told me who you had someone else play for you."

"Damn, when did I ever say I hired someone to play for me?" Sun Wukong said with a smug look on his face. "Okay! Okay! I did hire someone to play for me, but I didn't pay them, and that expert even taught me a lot of things!" The monkey finished speaking with a smug look on his face.

"Who?" Han Cheng and the fat man asked in unison.

Sun Wukong tried his best to appear arrogant, crossing his arms and remaining silent.

After a while, a short-haired young man came in. He was very low-key and quietly walked to his seat.

"Look!" Sun Wukong looked at the short-haired youth.

"You mean Night Ice?" the fat man asked.

"He plays Honor of Kings too?" Han Cheng asked.

"Sure!" Sun Wukong exclaimed, "A Glory King with seventy or eighty stars? Isn't that awesome?"

"Hang!"

Ye Bing was one of Han Cheng's best friends. He was usually quiet, only talking to Han Cheng and his friends. Because of his low profile, no one in the class knew that he was a rich second-generation, the son of a government official—his father was the mayor of the city (Pingshan City). Despite his privileged background, he always dressed simply. Han Cheng and his friends only found out about his father's position by chance. However, although Ye Bing lived up to his name, being as cold as ice, he was actually very warm-hearted, just a bit introverted.

Afterwards, Han Cheng and Fatty and Skinny, or rather Fatty and Monkey, continued to boast to each other. This was something they did before every class, claiming it was to boost their self-confidence and have more confidence to overcome difficulties in their studies and lives. But everyone could see that it was just to satisfy their pitiful vanity.

"Ding~" The school bell rang, and the students had already entered the classroom, sitting in their seats waiting for the teacher to start class. Pingshan No. 1 High School, the high school Han Cheng attended, was a private school with strict management, but in reality, it was very humane. There was no morning self-study session, only one evening study period for students. Although the management was strict, it was only for students who violated the rules; students' extracurricular life was very rich, yet the college entrance examination pass rate remained consistently high, and the teaching quality was excellent. Of course, the teachers were also very strict.

"Get back to your seats!" Sun Wukong shouted. "The first period is the teacher's class!"

Hearing Sun Wukong's words, the fat man followed suit and sat down next to him. — The two of them were deskmates and also two lively characters.

Han Cheng simply sat down where he was; it was his seat all along! His deskmate, the class's vice-monitor and class beauty—Xu Xiaomeng—was already seated. Although Monkey and Fatty were chatting away enthusiastically, Xu Xiaomeng seemed completely unaffected. Was she reading? No, she was playing King of Glory.

"Hey deskmate, it's the homeroom teacher's class!" Han Cheng whispered a reminder.

"Oh!" Xu Xiaomeng replied, "We'll win soon!"

"Class begins!" A gentle yet firm female voice rang out—it was the homeroom teacher's voice.

"Stand up...stand up..." Xu Xiaomeng stammered, because Han Cheng saw that she had been killed by the other side, and he shouted "stand up" because he was distracted.

"Hello teacher!"

"Hello, students! Please have a seat!"

Only then did Han Cheng turn his gaze to the homeroom teacher on the podium. The teacher, Chen Xiaoye, was a recent college graduate, only in her early twenties, and looked like a goddess. However, she was actually a complete tomboy. She was usually very gentle with students, but if a student made any misbehavior… well, expect to be called to the office for a good scolding, and then sent to complete an impossible mountain of homework! (Tons of homework, you deserve it!)

"Please check if your deskmates are here!" the homeroom teacher said. The students then began to look around to see if other students' deskmates were there. Their own deskmates were right in front of them, so there was no need to check!
