The Road to Godhood in Honor of Kings
I won't cheat in Chapter 1, unless I get stuck.
"enemy-legendary!"
The system notification sounded, and Liu Bei on the other side had already achieved godlike status, while Han Cheng remained calm.
"Sigh! There's nothing I can do! I've gotten used to being scammed so many times!"
Composing himself, he silently watched as his teammates fed kills and betrayed him in various creative ways, while he could only find an opportunity to flank them, then jump out and escape with low health.
"With teammates like these, it's impossible to play!" Han Cheng said regretfully, "I should never have solo queued!"
Watching his team's crystal explode with a "bang," and one of the cute little stars he had painstakingly earned being cruelly stolen, Han Cheng could only say, "I'm speechless! With teammates like this, what's the point of ranking up?!"
Han Cheng, who had just reached the Platinum rank, thought he had nothing to do and decided to play a ranked game to climb the ranks. Unfortunately, he encountered some terrible teammates and could only silently drop the ranks. Reflecting on his bumpy road to ranking up, he finally managed to reach Platinum this season, but now he's been dragged down by his teammates and has dropped again (he just played more than one game).
I really miss those buddies I used to rank up with! But unfortunately, during the National Day holiday, everyone was either traveling or going out to have fun. All my good buddies were playing ranked matches together, but Han Cheng was the only one at home, bored and playing King of Glory.
In solo queue, there are four unpredictable factors. Often, there will be three or more burly figures dominating the jungle (three or more teammates jungling, being killed by jungle monsters). However, while they are "dominating the jungle", the towers at home have already been destroyed. Who remembers that this is a game of pushing towers?
"I didn't expect there to be so many bad players in Platinum!" (Having played King of Glory for several seasons, Han Cheng reached Platinum for the first time. However, this doesn't mean he's a bad player. On the contrary, he has the heart and skills of a King of Glory player; he just lacks teammates to carry him.)
"I heard you're not a scumbag? Wanna hang out?" After the game ended, someone sent Han Cheng a friend request.
Han Cheng recognized the person as the Miyamoto from the game earlier. His skills were passable, but his awareness was top-notch. He was constantly counter-jungling and providing support. Unfortunately, in the current version, Miyamoto was "unable to get out after using his ultimate and unable to kill the backline." Coupled with three brainless teammates and the opponent's late-game composition, this led to a crushing defeat.
"So they were the people from the passage!" Han Cheng readily agreed.
As soon as I clicked "accept," Miyamoto sent me a friend request.
Undefeated (Miyamoto's ID): Dude, I saw you had great skills and awareness, but you got dragged down by those idiot teammates. How about we duo queue together this time?
Black Knight (Han Cheng's ID): Great! I see you're a pro too.
Undefeated: You flatter me. This is my smurf account. I just want to rank up. Actually, my main account is Diamond.
Black Knight: Hehe
To be honest, what Han Cheng hates most is people bringing up his rank, always calling him a "Gold noob" or a "Platinum noob," not realizing he's actually worse than those noobs. Although Miyamoto didn't say his rank was low, Han Cheng still felt a little uncomfortable: "Didn't you just climb up by riding on someone else's coattails?"
Undefeated Never Stops: On another note, you shouldn't be a swindler, right?
Black Knight: I won't cheat, unless it's a game glitch!
Miyamoto didn't speak, but silently invited Han Cheng, and then entered the character selection interface.
Now that ranked matches have an unlock function, you can reselect even if you accidentally click "confirm".
Han Cheng first clicked on his favorite hero, Han Xin, but didn't immediately confirm. While Han Xin excels in the early game, whether clearing jungle camps, controlling the pace of the game, ganking, or assassinating the backline, and possesses relatively reliable crowd control thanks to his knock-up mechanic, his performance in the late game is only average. Like other assassins, Han Xin is incredibly squishy, so the mainstream Han Xin build is usually semi-tank or even full tank. Because Han Xin isn't very strong in the late game, if he encounters bad teammates and doesn't get ahead early, he'll likely be doomed in the late game. Therefore, Han Cheng didn't intend to play Han Xin in this game.
Let's look at Miyamoto again. We should call him by his ID, "Undefeated." That ID is pretty arrogant and overbearing. "Undefeated" picked Miyamoto first, which worried Han Xin. The current Miyamoto is completely useless!
But soon, Undefeated switched back to Monkey King. Monkey King is still quite overpowered in the current version. Although his early-game critical strike damage has been nerfed, the extra 20% critical strike rate is no joke; he can still make you suffer terribly with a single blow. Undefeated hesitated for a moment, then decisively clicked "confirm." Fortunately, his teammates didn't plan to play Monkey King; otherwise, if they had encountered someone who instantly picked him, Undefeated wouldn't have had a chance to use Monkey King.
The other teammates also gradually selected their heroes, and Han Cheng finally chose Li Bai. He played Li Bai quite well; although physical lifesteal has been removed in the current version, Li Bai is still viable thanks to his ultimate and second skill's invulnerability, as well as his first skill's three-stage dash. A skilled player can "kill in the red dust and escape from the enemy's blade." Looking at the team composition, besides Sun Wukong and his own Li Bai, his teammates were Diao Chan (this mage is quite popular right now), Hou Yi, and Zhong Kui. It's rare to see Zhong Kui in low-ranked matches, but fortunately, this Zhong Kui was a Grandmaster, indicating he had played quite a few games. Han Cheng's team composition was relatively balanced, except for a lack of tanks; besides Zhong Kui, the mage tank, the rest were all squishy. However, looking at the opposing team's composition, it was a pure melee team, almost entirely composed of damage dealers. It seems they completely disregarded their teammates and were too self-centered. Monkey King, Sun Shangxiang, Hua Mulan, Luna, and only one tanky warrior, Lao Fu Zi. If this lineup can't kill your own team in one shot, then you're just waiting to be killed!
The game started quickly. The invincible Monkey King brought Purify, as he's still vulnerable to crowd control. Even with the Blade of Despair, which only adds a second to his survivability, the enemy's crowd control seems to last much longer. Han Cheng's Li Bai and Monkey King first went to the jungle to take the red buff, a relatively conservative approach, avoiding the jungle because they were afraid to. On the minimap, there was only one Hua Mulan and one Sun Shangxiang on the lanes; the rest seemed to be either in the bushes or in the jungle. Rushing to invade their jungle would risk being ambushed. After taking the red buff, the enemy still only had two players. Han Cheng was puzzled. Logically, the buff should have already been taken by now? Could it be...?
At this moment? The invincible monkey had already sent a signal in the bottom lane, adding, "Watch out for enemies in the bushes!" It seems the enemy team is planning to ambush our Hou Yi with Sun Shangxiang in the bottom lane! (Four people ambushing one, how dirty!)
Meanwhile, Han Cheng told Diao Chan to stop pushing the mid lane and instead ambush in the bush near the enemy's blue buff. At this point, Hua Mulan was still foolishly pushing the top lane and fighting Zhong Kui (entirely to lure him in). But Han Cheng knew, the real show was about to begin!
