Chapter 64 Castio's Strange Request: The Little Ant's Plan to Protect the Elephant

Just as Wang Xiaoyi was completely immersed in the bustling atmosphere of the food street, a dark figure, like a ghost in the night, silently approached. The figure moved with extreme lightness, like a feather falling, without attracting any attention. Wang Xiaoyi only felt his arm being gently tugged, as light as a breeze. He subconsciously turned his head and saw Castio's mysterious face.

Castio's lips curled slightly upwards as he made a shushing gesture, a gesture that seemed like a mysterious magical mark, silently conveying his intentions. Then, he led Wang Xiaoyi like a nimble cat through the crowd, arriving at a rather secluded corner of the food street. This corner seemed to have been forgotten by the bustling food street; few people visited it, and a tranquil and mysterious atmosphere permeated the surroundings.

Wang Xiaoyi's eyes were filled with astonishment, as if he had witnessed a miraculous sight. He stared wide-eyed at Castio, his voice tinged with barely suppressed curiosity as he asked, "Lord Castio, what brings you here?" Castio's gaze, like an invisible searchlight, swept across every corner of the food street, as if searching for some precious treasure. Finally, his gaze, as if drawn by a magnet, landed on President Winnie, who was enjoying her meal not far away. His eyes held an inscrutable expression, like a veil of mystery, concealing countless untold secrets. After a long silence, he slowly spoke, "I've been trapped in this city of Elparan lately, as if bound by an invisible net. Here, I sense a dark force, like a venomous snake lurking in the shadows, quietly moving through the city. That dark aura is like a dark cloud, permeating every corner of the city, making people uneasy. I happened to see you here on this food street, so I thought I'd talk to you and hopefully get some useful clues from you."

Wang Xiaoyi shook his head helplessly, saying that he hadn't found anything. The city was quite peaceful, and he hadn't noticed anything unusual.

Castio nodded slightly upon hearing Wang Xiaoyi's words. He thought to himself, this young boy is indeed inexperienced in the ways of the world, how could he possibly know what's hidden behind the layers of mystery? He hadn't held out much hope of getting any useful clues from him anyway.

After a moment of silence, Castio seemed lost in some kind of memory. He slowly spoke, "Actually, I've been like a silent shadow, secretly observing President Winnie. You know, I've been searching desperately for someone incredibly important to me. During this long search, I discovered that there seems to be an invisible thread connecting President Winnie and that person. They share some striking similarities, like the same flower blooming in different gardens. Although their growing environments are different, their appearance and unique aura are somewhat alike. However, after careful investigation and analysis, I'm absolutely certain that she is definitely not the person I'm looking for."

Wang Xiaoyi's eyes sparkled with curiosity, like twinkling stars in the night sky. He couldn't help but ask, "Lord Castio, now that it's confirmed she's not the person you're looking for, what are your plans for the future? Do you intend to continue searching for that person?"

Castio's eyes narrowed slightly upon hearing this, a layer of mist seemingly shifting within them. He pondered for a moment, but instead of directly answering Wang Xiaoyi's question, he changed the subject, saying, "Although this President Vinnie isn't the person I'm looking for, I sense a subtle connection between them, like a faint fragrance in the wind, elusive and hard to discern." As he spoke, he looked intently at Wang Xiaoyi, then continued, "I've heard you're about to embark on an adventure, a journey fraught with unknowns and dangers, like groping your way through a dark labyrinth, where every step could lead to a trap, and every turn could conceal peril. I hope you can protect President Vinnie for me."

Wang Xiaoyi found this utterly ridiculous. He subconsciously glanced at his own thin hands, silently comparing himself to her. He was merely a level 30 priest, his strength as insignificant as an ant, while Guild Master Winnie had already reached the high-level of level 70. Her magic power and combat experience far surpassed his own. How could he possibly be the one to protect her? He felt that Castio's idea was utterly absurd, like asking a tiny ant to protect an elephant.

Castio seemed to read Wang Xiaoyi's mind. A slight, mysterious smile played on his lips as he said, "Come find me in a small house behind the temple later." A barely perceptible hint of anticipation flickered in Castio's eyes. "I can offer you some small assistance there to improve your strength. Consider it a little surprise." With that, Castio, like a master of spatial magic, transformed into a streak of light, shimmering with an eerie glow, and vanished into the distant darkness, leaving only a fleeting afterimage. Wang Xiaoyi was left standing there, frozen like a statue in a secluded corner, his mind a jumble of questions and anticipation, as if swept by a storm. The questions, like mischievous sprites, danced and leaped through his mind, making him dizzy. The anticipation, like a bright star, shone uniquely brightly amidst this nebula of doubt.

Wang Xiaoyi shook his head, as if trying to shake off the chaotic thoughts in his mind like water droplets. He temporarily put these strange things behind him, like throwing a heavy lead ball into an invisible abyss. Then, he readjusted himself and turned to walk quickly in the direction where everyone was.

President Winnie, who had been enjoying a delightful meal with Alpha, Allen, and Wang Xiaoyi, turned around upon hearing Wang Xiaoyi's return. A long-lost smile, like the warm spring sun, bloomed on her face. Looking at Alpha and Allen, their vibrant figures seemed like two burning flames, brimming with the passion of life. Then, looking at the thoughtful, charming, and pleasing-to-the-eye Wang Xiaoyi, a warm feeling welled up within her. She thought to herself: Youth is truly wonderful; this feeling of hope and vitality is like the first ray of sunshine in the morning—so beautiful.

And so, she once again immersed herself in the lively and magical night, enjoying this rare moment of joy with the young adventurers. Alpha seemed to be discussing a new magical technique with a new friend, while Allen was captivated by a street performer, and Wang Xiaoyi, though still preoccupied with Castio, was gradually infected by the joyful atmosphere around him, and a happy smile returned to his face.
