General Gan was filled with resentment and helplessness. He had just arrived and should have had a chance to catch his breath, but reality was so cruel. Thinking about having to regroup and start fighting again tomorrow, he couldn't help but feel a wave of exhaustion wash over him.

Those enemies were utterly unruly, attacking without a word. Worse still, their own arrows were completely out of range, trapping them in the city like chickens in a cage, at the mercy of their captors. Faced with this predicament, General Gan knew that the most urgent task was to quickly handle the post-battle situation and devise a new strategy.

So he quickly gathered everyone to begin the cleanup work. Everyone worked together tirelessly until late into the night, finally managing to arrange everything properly. Afterwards, General Gan and the garrison commander entered the tent together. General Gan eagerly asked, "Have you investigated the other side's background?"

The garrison commander shook his head, looking troubled, and said, "We haven't fully figured it out yet. We only know that they have roughly three thousand soldiers. As for the items they used to attack the city today, they were explosive canisters. Apart from that, we have no other useful information."

Upon hearing this, General Gan frowned and fell into deep thought. Logically speaking, if the enemy possessed such powerful weapons, their side should have been defeated or even annihilated long ago. However, what was puzzling was why they hadn't chosen to seize the city in one fell swoop. What was their hidden intention? This mystery shrouded General Gan's mind like a thick fog, leaving him utterly perplexed.

"In my opinion, there are probably two reasons for the enemy's actions. First, they are trying to lure our troops to come and reinforce us in a continuous stream, thereby diverting our forces; second, they probably don't have many of those siege weapons they possess," the defending general analyzed with a solemn expression.

"Hmm...that's quite right! According to our scouts, the Iron Falcon army should be arriving soon. We need to hurry and reorganize our troops. Tomorrow morning, we should send a challenge to the enemy, inviting them to come out of the city for a field battle. This will also allow us to test their intentions." General Gan nodded slightly, indicating his agreement with the garrison commander's opinion, and then added.

Afterwards, the two discussed the specific plans and strategies for tomorrow's battle in detail, and only after confirming that there were no omissions in any details did they return to their respective tents to rest.

The next morning, just as dawn broke, the heavy city gates slowly opened with a deep, muffled sound. A messenger carrying a command flag galloped out like an arrow, heading straight for the camp where Commander Jin was located. When he was close enough, the messenger quickly reined in his horse, took a strong bow from his back, nocked an arrow, aimed at the camp, and hurled it with all his might. The arrow streaked across the sky like a meteor, flying straight towards the camp with a sharp whistle. Without hesitation, he turned his horse around, raised his whip, and lashed it hard across the rump. With a crisp crack, his steed neighed and galloped off, disappearing into the distant horizon in the blink of an eye.

Shortly after the messenger rushed out of the city gates, General Jin, far away in his tent, received the information. With his years of battlefield experience and keen insight, General Jin quickly discerned that the messenger's purpose was to challenge him to battle. However, General Jin chose to ignore this seemingly provocative act.
