Genshin Impact: Rise of the Desert

Chapter 99 Street Fighting (Part 2)

A water elementalist with a one-handed sword and the Eye of God, whose own brother was just cut in half by a curved blade in the river, is beyond saving, even if Bai Shu came.

Driven by rage, the owner of the Eye of the Water God ran away at breakneck speed, ignoring the others' urging to conserve his energy.

His eyes gleamed with hatred.

"Give me back my brother's life!"

He yelled, leaped up, and swung his one-handed sword, imbued with water element, at the back of the head in the river.

As he sprinted down the river, he twisted his waist and hips, leaped into the air, and drew his two curved blades again, kicking one of them into the air.

"Golden Spin!"

The scimitar gleamed with golden light as it spun and hurtled toward the owner of the Eye of the Water God in mid-air.

"Pfft—Crack—"

The sound of flesh being pierced and bones being cut rang out almost simultaneously. The owner of the Eye of the Water God fell from the sky, his neck and waist were smoothly cut open, and his whole body was divided into three pieces.

After landing in the river, he rolled a few times to dissipate the momentum, caught the curved sword, sheathed it, and looked at the several Eye of God users who were chasing after him with a half-smile.

Seeing He Zhong's confident demeanor, the pursuers stopped and hesitated, glancing at him.

Two members looked at the man who had been cut into three pieces and felt a cold sweat break out on their backs.

This is a fairly wide street, perfect for encircling!

The group exchanged glances. Three remained in place, facing each other across the river, while the other four went to the house on the left. Two went inside and two went up to the roof. The same thing happened on the right.

The leader, seeing the strange expression on the face of someone in the river, couldn't help but feel puzzled...

Oh no! He's trying not to laugh!

The leader was about to speak up to warn them, but the rest of the members had already arrived in front of the house.

A Vulcan Eye owner wielding a long spear arrived at a furniture shop with his companion and opened the door.

What comes into view is the summoning object of the blade dancer, a long snake emitting green light.

"Catch this!"

The owner of the Eye of Vulcan and his companion were caught by the serpent's tail, the immense force causing them to creak as they were pulled into the house.

Upon seeing this, the owner of the Eye of Vulcan held his spear horizontally in front of the door, but the spear smashed the door frame apart. The immense force caused the owner of the Eye of Vulcan's hand to split open and bleed, forcing him to release the spear.

Without his weapon, the owner of the Eye of Vulcan turned to look at the Wheel Dancer, preparing to unleash the fire element.

However, what came into view was the blade on the fist, which was covered by water element.

"I'm coming!"

With a loud thud, the owner of the Eye of Vulcan and his companion were smashed, their brains splattering everywhere.

One of the Ice God's Eye owners, who had jumped onto the roof and was holding a bow and arrow, heard the noise and was about to come down.

A blade of axe cleaved through the roof, striking the calf of the wielder of the Eye of the Ice God, pulling him down sharply. The wielder of the Eye of the Ice God smashed through the roof beams and landed on the floor of the house, his head smashed by the axe before he could even see who his enemy was.

His companion fared even worse; one of the rock minions smashed through the roof and threw the crocodile up. The crocodile bit the man's thigh, performed a fatal roll, swallowed the entire thigh, and then slid back through the hole in the roof.

Although they didn't die, they basically pose no threat.

On the other side of the house, the four owners of the Eye of God were also ambushed.

The tactic of dividing forces into smaller units failed.

Failure, however, often comes at a great cost.

The remaining few possessors of the Eye of God were surrounded by the gilded warriors who emerged from the house and those in the river.

Faced with a troop of gilded warriors several times their number, most possessors of the Eye of God could only die with resentment.

After a fierce battle, He Zhong pulled the curved blade from the corpse's forehead, accompanied by a slight splash of white liquid tinged with blood.

He looked at everyone and said, "I'll repeat myself: although our mission is to kill as many high-level combatants as possible, we must also lend a helping hand when we see others being surrounded by the Liyue people!"

"Don't worry, even though we commit arson, murder, and looting, we still have a conscience."

"Absolutely! We help our tribesmen in the tribe, so we'll definitely help our colleagues in the army!"

After giving the instructions, the gilded warriors quickly separated to find new locations for ambush.

On the other side, the wide road was littered with gravel, and the houses were dilapidated and drafty. Qianyan Army didn't pay much attention to the gravel, assuming it was the work of the desert people.

A Qianyan soldier carrying a long rifle cursed, "Damn desert dogs, they tore down all the houses, these..."

Before he could finish speaking, his foot, which was on the gravel, suddenly sank in, and he fell right in.

Because the formation was rather scattered, he was the only one who fell in. Several wooden spears were stuck into the pit, and due to the drainage system, the area beneath the spears was black and emitted a foul stench of sewage.

The armor blocked the attack, but the Thousand Rock soldier did not pull down his mask, and his eye sockets were pierced by wooden spears.

"Aaaaaah!" the Thousand Rock soldier screamed in terror, waving his arms and pulling his eye socket out of the wooden spear, where it fell into the sewage. "Help me! Help me!"

The sergeant of the Qianyan Army rushed over and saw the Qianyan Army's empty, blood-filled eye sockets and the spear in the sewage.

"Pull up your masks, everyone!" the sergeant said, pulling down the iron mask inside his helmet and on top of his head.

The mask, tan in color and stamped with the seal of the rock element, only revealed two eyes, making it difficult for others to see where the eyes were.

As the platoon leader reached out to Qianyan Army, he couldn't help but feel a chill.

The pebbles were carried on bamboo strips, which were probably taken from furniture such as armchairs. Moreover, the wooden spears were grayish in color, clearly having been splashed with sewage many times.

The vanguard Thousand Rock Army brought by Keqing were all elites, each wearing armor weighing over 40 jin (approximately 20 kg), and with their already robust physiques, their weight was generally between 230 and 270 jin (approximately 100 kg).

But elites are elites; the squad leader managed to rescue the blind Qianyan soldier in just two minutes.

Just as they rescued Qianyanjun, another scream came from twenty meters away.

"What the hell happened again?" the sergeant cursed into the distance, patting the blind Qianyan soldier on the shoulder. "Go back and wait...."

The squad leader had a sudden thought and wanted to say something like "take good care of yourself," but his eyes were already empty.

Thankfully, I managed to swallow those words.

Qianyanjun's remaining eyeballs were bloodshot: "I'm not leaving! Damn it, I won't be satisfied until I've killed that desert dog!"

The squad leader said nothing and walked toward his comrade who had screamed in agony.

The Qianyan soldier fared even worse. He was walking normally on the street, in a relatively good spot with few loose stones. However, when his obsessive-compulsive disorder caused him to step directly onto a stone brick, the surrounding bricks suddenly flew off, and a tremendous force deformed his boot and shattered his ankle.

The companions rushed to the rescue; the culprit was an animal trap.

Monsters outnumber wild animals in the desert, so animal traps are naturally made to be extremely powerful. Even pack animals can often have their legs broken by these specially designed traps, which weigh up to twenty pounds.

However, the armor worn by the Chiiwa army only crushed their ankles.

"This really can't be delayed any longer. You, take him out of the city!" The squad leader commanded the blind Qianyan soldier, instructing him to move the wounded to avoid the battle.

"what!"

A louder scream came from afar, and the squad leader looked up.

Another squad, for some unknown reason, triggered a long spear that shot out from the floor tiles and pierced through the military boots made of tanned leather and steel.

This spear, or rather, a halberd, has a central spike next to the spearhead. It's less about piercing the sole of the foot and more about almost severing it, leaving only a layer of skin connecting it.

The squad leader shivered. He had thought that once he entered the city, he would just have to fight the desert dogs with knives.

However, after only three traps, the squad leader knew.

The street battles with the desert people have only just begun.
