Genshin Impact: Rise of the Desert
Chapter 43 Furina's Collapse (Part 2)
The group chased Koch into a bar, and Ivan watched as Koch ran towards the crowd.
"The super intelligence bestowed upon me by the Crimson King's bloodline tells me it's time to unleash my super power!"
Ivan fully embodied the golden spirit of the Borjigin Golden Family, knocking down and trampling anyone who stood in his way.
"oops!"
"Mamma Mia!"
"Awooo! Roar! Roar! Roar! Roar!"
Screams echoed wherever Ivan went, because it wasn't just him; the Muscovites also trampled over the spots he had created, while the bar thugs pretended not to see anything.
One of the drinkers asked one of the thugs standing nearby, "Hey buddy, they're making such a scene, aren't you going to stop them?"
The thug glanced at the other party and said in a low voice, "Don't you see how strong these guys are? We're just people with fixed salaries, don't cause trouble. Let others go first, then we can show off our strength."
However, it was clear that all the thugs in the bar thought the same thing.
With Fryna in his arms, Ivan finally reached Koch's side and kicked him without hesitation.
Koch flew up and knocked over several people before landing in the relatively open area near the back door.
Koch broke two of his ribs with that kick, and was in so much pain that he couldn't speak. He just stood up, mouth agape, trembling.
Meanwhile, Yu Guang saw the back door.
How did I end up back here again?
Before Koch could get up, Ivan kicked him again, sending him flying through the back door and crashing into the railing. With the force still intact, he fell down the iron stairs.
Ivan walked out the back door and saw the river covered in blood, and a scene of horrific carnage with corpses and the seriously wounded.
He chuckled at Ivan, "Hey, boss, you've finally arrived! I had a blast just now, I didn't even draw my knife!"
Ivan put Fryna down, jumped off the second floor, and punched the man in the shoulder in the river: "You little brat, you don't draw your sword when fighting the Fools, but you draw it when fighting those thugs, huh?"
Then he looked at Koch, who had multiple fractures and had fallen from the second floor, and was already unconscious.
"We'll take this kid with us and heal his wounds... As for these fools..."
The desert people were all elites of the Moscow tribe, so they naturally knew how powerful the Fools were.
So they cut off the limbs of these fools, so that they would be unable to resist when they awoke.
This tactic was indeed somewhat impolite; the rude Muscovites had awakened the fools.
Two wind servants and one frost servant had their mouths stuffed with rags they'd picked up from who-knows-where, and were stuffed into old burlap sacks they'd found by the roadside, leaving only the debt collector behind.
The debtor, whose spine had already been broken, now had all four limbs severed, and was utterly despondent.
Navia was the most anxious and immediately went to interrogate the debt collector: "Hey! Tell me! Who is the mastermind behind Les's murder, the killer in the serial disappearances of girls?"
"Hey, we don't know who the killer is in the serial disappearances of girls. But it was the big boss who sells Less who sent me."
"Who is he?"
"Anyway, you won't let me go, and you'll never find out! Fuck you! Pah!"
"Aaaaaaaah! You bastard!"
The debt collector was left there to be interrogated by Navia, while the group of Muscovites began to chat idly again. Only in the river were people scavenging the clothes from the dead fools and changing out of their own clothes that were no longer wearable.
Ivan went upstairs. Funina had finished vomiting and was squatting on the second-floor platform, staring blankly at the horrific scene below, saying nothing. Her previous liveliness and willfulness had vanished, replaced by only confusion in her beautiful eyes.
“Tell me, I must not be a qualified god, right?” Funina said with a laugh and a cry. “I’m so useless. I was so scared by this horrific scene that I even threw up. I didn’t even know that the people of Grey River lived such a miserable life, only able to numb themselves with alcohol and accomplish nothing.”
While Ivan was carrying her, Fulina was not only vomiting the whole way, but she also noticed that the shops on the street mainly sold alcohol and cigarettes.
Smoking is to make the air we breathe less smelly, and drinking is to numb our nerves and briefly escape from a worthless life.
Furina wasn't stupid at all; she had already sensed it from Ivan's attitude towards her.
Ivan already knows he's terrible.
As she spoke, Funina burst into tears, snot bubbles splashing all over Ivan's face.
"Waaaaah... It's all my fault that they've ended up like this! It's all my fault! I'm so useless!"
Ivan's calmness, courage, and equal treatment made Funina feel that he was someone she could vent her frustrations on; she even wanted to tell him all the bitterness she had endured for the past five hundred years.
But she held back.
However, Funina wasn't just crying for the people of Ash River; she was also weeping for her own exhaustion.
One person must impersonate a god without revealing any flaws, and this act can last for five hundred years.
It was exhausting, so exhausting that even her soul had no strength left, but Fulina still had to keep acting.
This is all because of that prophecy, for Fontaine, for... a greater good.
Ivan shielded Funina from the view with his body, patting her on the shoulder: "It's not your fault. Compared to the Grass God, you've done very well..."
Fryna wanted to cry, and so did Ivan.
As a member of Sumeru, I have always been discriminated against.
In Liyue, merchants charge five high-quality animal hides for a brick of tea and fifty high-quality animal hides for an iron weapon, with no bargaining.
The merchants in the rainforest are even more ruthless, not only speaking with discrimination but also controlling the desert people's necessities—cloth, salt, and timber.
Ivan can only avoid being imprisoned by the trade blockade jointly imposed by the Rainforest and Liyue by robbing and seizing.
Why? Because I am also a part of Sumeru! I also love this land of knowledge and wisdom!
I love my country, but who loves me?
It's not just the oppression from the Rainforest people and the Liyue people; even the nearby tribes want me dead so they can have more space to live.
Damn it, why?
The so-called five hundred years of imprisonment of the Grass God cannot compare to the blood and tears of a desert man wailing in the wind and sand.
Ivan's nose tingled, and he almost cried too: "I am the heir of the Golden Family, a true descendant of the gods, yet I can only serve as a mercenary in a foreign land to fight for a better future for my people..."
Ivan empathized with Funina.
A chieftain who tirelessly traveled and risked his life for his people. And a man who had played the role of a god for five hundred years, a man whose true identity had been kept secret by his subordinates.
The two squatted together, heads touching, silently shedding tears.
P.S.: I've decided, no voting or solicitation, I've decided to dictate!
The female lead—Furina!
Moscow Shooting Forces, listen to my command!
All dissidents, drag them out and execute them!
