This Life's Song: The Genius Rune Master

Chapter 96 makes me feel like I missed something.

Time always flies, and before long it was time to study. Jingwei left reluctantly to learn alchemy. She didn't want to fall too far behind Lianxue and didn't want them to become strangers.

Everyone went to their assigned positions and began learning and absorbing their own knowledge.

Meanwhile, the martial arts training grounds also welcomed many newcomers. Having witnessed the training of those people yesterday, some arrogant individuals believed that they were definitely stronger than them and wouldn't be in such a sorry state. So, eager to show off, they all came to the waterfall.

There was also an unexpected person here, Qi Nianbei. When he left yesterday, he felt like he had missed something. He was restless after returning home, so he didn't accompany his friend today and came directly by himself.

Looking at the crowd, Qi Nianbei was lost in thought for a moment, then smiled to himself. What did he miss? What was there to miss? It seemed he hadn't rested well. He shook off the chaos in his mind and watched the growing crowd drift by.

Lian Xue is currently in a mysterious place, and her mentor Cheng Yu has brought her to the secret realm.

There were roars of beasts in the distance, indicating that the battle was quite intense; you could get a general idea just by listening to the sounds.

Cheng Yu didn't say much, she just brought me here and then left. As for what I should do, I have to find a place to stay and overcome the beast horde before I can be recognized and become a true member of this place.

Lian Xue changed into men's clothing for convenience this time, as it was simpler and suitable for various battles, while women's clothing was too complicated, so she rejected it directly.

A thin child dressed in men's clothing walks through this small world overrun by beasts, searching for prey and a place to live.

Cheng Yu didn't actually leave. After all, Lian Xue was very young, and he was worried about her training alone. He hid at a distance that was neither too close nor too far, so he could intervene at any time if she encountered danger. Looking at the girl in front of him, who looked so relaxed and had a boldness beyond her years, and seemed quite thoughtful as well, he felt a little gratified, which proved that the teacher had not made the wrong choice.

Lianxue followed the direction of the beast's roar. Since there were beasts, it meant that people were fighting, hence the angry roars. Of course, it was also possible that the beasts were fighting on their own. Lianxue had no choice but to continue on, hoping for the best. After all, she was unfamiliar with the area, and the most important thing was to find her companions.

It started operating with its wind-flash mode, increasing its speed to an even higher level, and in the blink of an eye, it had disappeared from the spot.

Cheng Yu was also quite surprised. "Wow! This little girl is pretty fast." After saying that, she also left the place.

Lianxue arrived at the battle site in a quarter of an hour, and thankfully, her choice was not in vain.

Hiding behind a tree and looking into the distance, I saw a man and a woman fighting a rhinoceros beast.

The girl was already injured, clutching her arm, and occasionally lashing out.

Lianxue watched quietly. After all, she wasn't familiar with them and didn't want to be mistaken for someone who had ambushed her or tried to steal her prey, so she decided to observe first before going out.

The man was attacking the rhinoceros beast with a long mace wreathed in red flames. He was striking the beast with the mace, which was flying up and down. The rhinoceros beast retaliated with its tusks and rammed its massive head against the beast, occasionally raising a hoof to attack another woman.

The woman held a silk ribbon, which resembled a nimble snake, striking wherever she pointed. She entangled the rhinoceros, pulling it down and aiding her teammates in the attack.

However, it can also be seen that the woman is somewhat noble, belonging to a large family. She is dressed in gorgeous clothes, but her movements are not skilled, and the fight is entirely maintained by the men.

She can only play a supporting role.

Lianxue paid special attention to the man wielding the mace, because he used the fire element very well.

Watching his flames flicker, Lian Xue felt a surge of excitement. She longed to use the elements she currently possessed, but she hadn't fully grasped the principles yet and could only wait for someone to guide her.

The person in front of me seems to be able to guide me, but since we're not familiar with each other, we need to wait.

After the rhinoceros spotted the woman, it kicked her and sent her flying backward. Fortunately, her silk caught on a tree behind her; otherwise, the fall might have cost her half her life.

Taking advantage of the moment, the man thrust his mace into the rhinoceros's neck. The rhinoceros whimpered and staggered to the ground, creating a deep crater and raising a cloud of dust. Cracks appeared beneath the man's feet. The rhinoceros struggled briefly but then became unresponsive.

The woman wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and staggered back. "That damned beast! How could its attack power be so strong? It used up all my spiritual energy. If I had stayed any longer, I wouldn't have been able to go back. I would have died here."

The woman complained, but the man didn't answer. Instead, he neatly and efficiently packed up his spoils.

While making his move, he glanced to the side out of the corner of his eye, thinking, "Since you're here, come out. Why hide?"

Lian Xue was taken aback. Had she been discovered so quickly? Helpless, she stepped forward and bowed respectfully. "Greetings, senior brothers and sisters. I'm new here. I wonder if you could give me a ride?"

The man stopped what he was doing, glanced at Lianxue, and then continued with his work.

The woman crossed her arms and walked over to Lianxue, examining her closely.

"What makes you think we'll take you with us? We don't sympathize with the weak."

Lianxue didn't react much. She thought this was normal. After all, no one wants to bring a burden along. In this dangerous place, it's sometimes hard to even protect oneself, let alone bring someone you don't know well.

Lianxue humbly said, "I know you won't take me along casually. I'm a talisman master, so I can fight monsters with you and draw the talismans you need. Of course, I won't compete with you for loot. I just hope you can teach me how to use the elements."

The woman looked at the small child with curiosity. How could such a tiny child say such things, and he wasn't afraid of her questioning? "Well..." "Well, that's not necessarily true. Why should we take you with us?" she was interrupted before she could finish her sentence.

"Sure, but kid, you have to follow orders. If I don't tell you to do something, you can't do it, understand? You have to follow orders, unconditionally. If you can't, get out of here. We don't keep useless people."

The man didn't turn around, deftly processing the rhinoceros's hide and horns with his knife. After speaking, he put away the knife, cut the rhinoceros meat into pieces, and put them away. He then gestured for the woman to take the other half.

The woman wasn't angry at being interrupted; instead, she smiled broadly, walked over, and waved her hand to collect her spoils.

Lianxue was speechless. Just because she was dressed as a boy, she was treated as one. That "boy" really bothered her, but she had no choice.

Lianxue is young, and her voice is naturally somewhere between male and female. How could people not misunderstand her when she is dressed as a man?

Lianxue was too lazy to argue, so she let them say what they wanted, as long as it didn't affect her cultivation.

She bowed slightly again and said, "Thank you, senior brothers and sisters. My name is Ye Lianxue. Please take good care of me."

The woman wiped the blood from her face, wondering why a boy's name could be so effeminate. Then she understood. "Alright, let's go. Remember what you said, be good!" She smiled meaningfully and walked away.

Neither of them seemed inclined to introduce themselves.
