This Life's Song: The Genius Rune Master
Chapter 7 Experience
"Senior sister, do you have any runes you can teach me?" Afraid that her senior sister would continue, she quickly changed the subject.
"Although these things should be taught by the master, well, I'm your senior sister, so tell me what kind of talisman you want to learn," she said, carefully choosing her words.
"I already know how to do simple water talismans, immobilization talismans, fire talismans, ice talismans, and lightning talismans," he replied after thinking for a moment.
"Alright, then I'll teach you how to make an exorcism talisman. We're setting off tomorrow, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to practice." Feeling like we'd need it soon, I decided to teach you this.
"Then please enlighten me, Senior Sister," he said, then clasped his hands together in a very solemn bow.
"Why so serious? Give your senior sister a smile first," she said lightly, reaching out to take out a talisman.
Looking at the orange talisman paper that her senior sister took out, she felt complicated. "Senior sister, are you going to teach me this level? Can I do it?"
"Junior Sister is so clever, what's wrong with that? Besides, I'm here with you, Senior Sister." Smiling, she put down the talisman paper and took out a talisman pen. "Here, take the pen."
"Yes," he nodded firmly and took the talisman brush.
"First, before drawing the talisman, you need to calm your mind. Just tell yourself it's very simple. Now, get ready to put down your brush. First, infuse spiritual energy into the tip of the brush. Follow the order, starting with the dot. You go first, let me see." He pointed to a spot on the talisman paper and drew a line, saying...
Lianxue picked up a pen and started drawing where her senior sister had just drawn.
"Stop, this position is fine, don't go over it. This talisman is different; we don't need to draw it all in one go. We'll divide it into several parts, and the final stroke will converge on the first stroke." Gone was the usual playfulness; his seriousness was awe-inspiring.
Following the instructions of my second senior sister, I started drawing, but unfortunately, it took five drawings before I finally managed to draw the shape of the exorcism talisman.
"Hmm, that's already good enough. Keep up the good work, and soon you'll be able to draw perfect intermediate-level talismans." Seeing his junior sister so focused, he thought to himself, "Junior sister is indeed a promising talent. No wonder she was taken in as a disciple by our master at such a young age."
"Alright, that's enough for today. Junior Sister, would you like to sleep on the inside or outside of the bed?" he teased Lian Xue mischievously.
"Um... Senior sister, you go to sleep first, I... I'll meditate." She thought to herself, "This second senior sister is even more difficult to deal with than my master."
"No, little junior sister, a moment of spring night is worth a thousand pieces of gold. If you don't sleep, how about I hold you?" she said mischievously, finding her junior sister too adorable and unable to resist teasing her.
"Senior sister, you should go to sleep first." Why did I feel like I'd been sexually assaulted? I couldn't help but shudder.
"We're both girls, and you're still a little kid, what are you afraid of?" he said, reaching out to hug her.
"Fine, I'll sleep inside, I'll do it myself." Helpless against her will, she had no choice but to give in.
As the first rays of sunlight shone in the morning, I woke up from my sleep, stretched, and turned around. Oh, my senior sister isn't here. Why is she up so early?
I didn't pay any attention. After washing up, I went downstairs and saw that my master was already downstairs.
"Good morning, Master," I greeted him and sat down next to him.
"Hmm, where's your senior sister?" he asked, puzzled.
"Senior sister went out very early," the words had barely left her lips when...
"Oh! You miss your senior sister already? Junior sister is so lovely, hehe." She jumped down from the carriage and sat down at the table.
"So, Senior Sister went to buy a carriage." Not paying attention to her tone, she thought to herself how thoughtful she was.
"Okay, let's save time, eat, and then we'll set off." Without further ado, we started eating.
After the three finished their meal, Lianxue and her master got into the carriage, and her senior sister started driving.
Looking back at this small town, I couldn't help but feel a pang of emotion as I prepared to leave. Suddenly, a group of soldiers walked by and surrounded the alley; it turned out to be Beggars' Street.
"Why did they surround Beggar Street?" Lianxue asked, puzzled.
"It's nothing. Although we can't directly help, we can inform the authorities. They will handle it better than we can and prevent it from happening again. It also serves as a warning to those criminals," Yao Rao explained, glancing back at the scene.
Lianxue suddenly felt a weight lifted from her heart; it turned out her senior sister had gotten up so early to report to the authorities.
"Senior sister, you're so kind," she said, then laughed happily.
"Hmm~ Yao Rao did a great job. We can't intervene directly; having the government handle things will solve many problems. Also, we must ensure our own safety before rescuing anyone; otherwise, it would be a losing proposition." Ye Lan gave Lu Yao Rao an approving look.
"Your disciple thanks you for the praise, Master," Lu Yaorao replied with a sweet smile, and continued driving.
"Hmm~ If you had intervened yesterday, you would have saved those two children, but that would have only saved the children. The bad guys would have become alert and run away, which would have made things worse." Ye Lan looked at Lian Xue with a smile, sighing inwardly, hoping that the child would understand the reasoning behind it and not go down a dead end.
"Yes, Master, Lianxue understands." Lianxue finally understood her master and senior sister's good intentions. It seems that she was indeed too inexperienced.
After finishing his speech, Master began his cultivation. Lianxue, however, did not cultivate. Looking out the car window at the flowing scenery, she recalled her experiences and couldn't help but sigh, "Every view is different."
It is said that the entrance to the world of cultivation is deep in the Ghost Forest, which is also where Ah Da went. I wonder if we will meet him on this journey.
At this moment, a man in black and his subordinate staggered and ran towards the depths of the Ghost Forest.
"Master, rest for a moment. They shouldn't be able to catch up," the young master sent the message. The two had been chased here after that. Luckily, there were only two of them. It seems the mortal realm has some restrictions on them, otherwise...
"Hmm, I didn't expect them to arrive so quickly. Let's rest for a while, take the healing pills, and leave immediately. We can't stay too long." The speaker was Leng Yaoye. Both of them had injuries of varying degrees. The other person was naturally Xiaoyue.
After a short rest, the two regained their strength and continued to fly forward at high speed.
Just then, a rustling sound came from all around. "Danger! Get out of the way!" Leng Yaoye shouted and dodged to the side.
"Haha, I didn't expect those two little brats to be so good at escaping. They made me chase them for so long!" An old man in a gray robe landed on the ground, speaking with a playful expression.
Leng Yaoye retreated, swinging his hands forward, and several fragments of the array flew out, instantly surrounding the old man.
He shouted "Run!" and turned to run.
“This trap can only last for a quarter of an hour,” Leng Yaoye said as he ran quickly.
Meanwhile, the three of them, master and disciples, had traveled for a day and a night and arrived at the edge of Ghost Forest. Lu Yaorao untied the reins, patted the horse's rump, and the horse neighed and disappeared without a trace.
“Lianxue, your level is the lowest. Entering the forest is your chance to improve your strength. There will be monsters appearing then. Your senior sister and I will not intervene. We will only come to your rescue if your life is in danger.” Ye Lan said with a serious expression. With him there, Lianxue would not be in any danger.
"Yes, I understand, Master." He took out the dagger from his sleeve, the very one the old man had given him, and walked forward with a determined look in his eyes.
"Go for it, junior sister! Your senior sister will protect you!" She smiled mischievously and winked at Lianxue, hoping to put her on easy and relieve her pressure. Real combat experience was crucial; it had to be hers to handle it.
The two landed on a tree and each used an invisibility talisman and a concealment talisman to quietly follow Lian Xue not far away.
After walking for about half an hour, Lian Xue heard rustling sounds coming from the dense forest ahead, which sounded like a large demonic beast moving forward.
Gripping the dagger tightly, facing battle for the first time, it was inevitable to feel nervous. My palms were slightly sweaty, and I had an urge to turn around and run away.
Her eyes were fixed ahead when the demonic beast seemed to detect human presence. It rushed out and, in the blink of an eye, was upon her. Although Lian Xue was frightened, she dodged aside and threw a fire talisman.
A demonic tiger appeared in sight. After throwing out the talisman, he thrust the dagger into the tiger's neck, but the demonic tiger dodged it nimbly. The talisman did not harm the demonic tiger, but only scratched its fur.
She threw out the immobilization talisman again, and thrust the dagger straight at the tiger's eye. This time, she wounded the demon tiger, which roared loudly, enraged. Lian Xue was scratched, her clothes stained with blood. For a moment, she hesitated, but then chose to continue fighting. Various talismans flew around her as she began close-quarters combat, exchanging blows for about ten rounds. Lian Xue was panting heavily. The demon tiger seemed to still have plenty of stamina, though it was blind in one eye, its fur was scorched, and it had knife wounds on its body and legs.
Lianxue was also injured, but she knew she couldn't stop; only by continuing to fight could she reach higher places.
She could use the exorcism talisman, but she also needed to train herself. She knew this was just the beginning and she couldn't use the talisman lightly. If she relied on it too much, she would make no progress in future battles. Talismans weren't inexhaustible either; her own strength had to be improved.
She dodged the tiger's claws again, this time sustaining a minor injury to her cheek. The tiger charged forward, and Lianxue leaned back, plunging her dagger into its abdomen. The tiger became even more ferocious.
After fighting for two hours, Lian Xue's physical strength had reached its limit. She immediately used the Exorcism Talisman, and the demon beast let out a mournful cry and fell to the ground, dying completely.
He knelt weakly on the ground, panting for a moment. He took out the pills his master had prepared beforehand to restore his strength and heal his wounds, then used his dagger to cut open the tiger's belly and take out the Yao Dan (Note: Yao Dan can be used as medicine). After doing this, he got up and continued on his way. The smell of blood would attract other ferocious beasts, so he had to leave.
After walking for another quarter of an hour, a fruit tree appeared ahead. I lightly leaped up the tree, picked a few fruits to fill my stomach. I couldn't bring food with me during the battle, so I had to find food myself.
She didn't notice that danger was approaching a mile away.
