This Life's Song: The Genius Rune Master

Chapter 6 Third Senior Sister

Stepping into the mansion, one sees the words "Leng Mansion" written in large characters on the gate, indicating the owner's extraordinary status. The calligraphy is unrestrained and free-spirited, exuding a sense of ease and freedom.

As he walked, the servants hurriedly bowed to him. Leng Yaoye ignored them and entered the master bedroom, which was empty. He searched around but couldn't find his mother.

"Xiaoyue, where is my mother?" Leng Yaoye shouted outside.

A handsome young man knelt on one knee. "Your Excellency," he said respectfully, "the Madam left the day before yesterday, fearing something might happen if you rushed back. She specifically ordered me to wait here."

The urgency in his voice was palpable in his question, "Do you know where Mother has gone?"

"Madam instructed me not to say anything, but to tell the young master that you must reach the Martial Emperor realm before you can go searching, otherwise do not act rashly," Xiaoyue relayed Leng Shi's words with a serious expression.

He took a deep breath, his heart filled with anxiety, but he also understood the seriousness of the situation. His mother said that only those at the Martial Emperor level could go there, so the place must be very dangerous. But he felt uneasy doing nothing.

"Xiaoyue, send a message to Minglang Pavilion, saying that the young master has received his father's true teachings and seems to have an unknown weapon." As her mind raced, she thought that if there was a bait, no matter how powerful the enemy was, they would not harm her parents. At least if they wanted her father's things, they could not let her parents die.

Minglang Pavilion is a mysterious organization. As long as you have money, there is no information you can't buy. Moreover, they have organizations in every area, so they don't have to worry about information being delayed.

"Yes, young master, I'll go right away, but that would put you in danger," the subordinate said with a worried expression, hesitating for a moment before finally speaking.

"I know, but I'm also afraid those people will become desperate and kill my parents. I have no other choice but to do this; at least I need to ensure they don't die so I can have a chance to save them." His gaze was fixed on the distant horizon, his heart filled with unwavering resolve.

That's life. There's no point in being anxious and fearful. Only by firmly believing in your goals can you move forward bravely and fearlessly.

Ye Lan felt the same way. He didn't want Lian Xue to be taken advantage of because she didn't understand right and wrong. He wanted her to live a long life, so she had to go through trials and tribulations and not be a hothouse flower.

As dawn broke, the rooster crowed, announcing the start of a new day, and shouts could be heard outside as vendors were already up and busy at work.

Lianxue stood up from her meditation, went to the window and looked at the busy people on the street. A sense of peace rose in her heart, and she seemed to feel the meaning of life.

He took a deep breath, took out a cleansing talisman, threw it into the basin to wash up, tidied his bed, and went downstairs. The waiter quickly brought over food: a bowl of soup, a steamed bun, and a plate of side dishes. The cook had already paid for two days' lodging and meals before leaving.

After finishing his meal, he went back upstairs and drew a few more talismans, which he then put into his sleeve.

He got up and practiced controlling the sword inside the room for a while, only stopping when he felt he was ready. After two days of sword control practice, the sword could move steadily, but he still needed to work hard to master sword control.

Practice needs to be done step by step, and cannot be accomplished overnight. Close the door, go downstairs, and continue walking towards the street.

Arriving at the spot where the beggar had been yesterday, the disabled beggar was still there, but now there was a girl next to him. The girl was blind, and the boy said that the girl was his sister.

The crowd gathered around, whispering amongst themselves. Some suggested that such a beautiful girl should be sold to become a wealthy man's concubine; it would be better than begging. The boy firmly refused, saying he could support his sister himself and didn't want her to be humiliated as a concubine. The girl remained silent, like a puppet.

Many people were moved to pity and took out money to give to the two children. Lianxue was also very sad. She thought to herself, "Don't give them money. Do you know that it is because of your kindness that this girl has gone blind? Tomorrow, there will be more children who will be harmed because of your kindness." Lianxue knew that no one would believe her even if she said this. They would think that she was jealous of them receiving money and would blame her.

Helpless, she could only remain silent. Looking at the few coins in her hand, she went to the steamed bun shop, bought four buns, and gave them to the boy and girl. "Eat quickly, or they'll be gone," she said. That was all she could do; she could only offer them food.

The two children were deeply moved when they took the buns. They hid one, stuffed it into their mouths, and choked, gasping for breath. But they dared not stop, afraid that if those people came back, they would have nothing to eat and would be beaten.

Seeing the two of them like this, Lianxue couldn't express the sorrow in her heart and had no heart to continue watching.

Before even entering the room at the inn, I saw my master. He had his back to me, and in front of him stood a tall, stunningly beautiful woman. She wore a pink bodysuit, her hair adorned with a jeweled bun, and she had large eyes, thin lips, and a high nose. She was smiling happily and talking to my master.

"Master, you're back! Who is this beautiful lady?" someone asked, walking over with a curious expression.

"Yes, Lianxue is back. Let me tell you, this is your second senior sister, Lu Yaorao," Ye Lan said with a smile.

"Wow, Master, is this the Second Senior Sister you always mentioned to me?" The master exclaimed in surprise. He always said the Second Senior Sister was optimistic and cheerful, and her cultivation was quite good. He hadn't seen her for several years since she returned to her hometown.

"Junior Sister? Master has been talking about you the whole way, my ears are practically calloused from hearing it, really!" Lu Yaorao looked at Lianxue reproachfully, then at her master.

"Your junior sister is still young, don't lead her astray," Ye Lan glared at Lu Yaorao.

"Senior sister, you're coming with us on this training trip too? That's great!" she said excitedly, reaching out to grab Lu Yaorao's hand, thinking that having another person was a good thing.

"Junior Sister, let's go inside and talk. We can't just stand outside forever," Lu Yaorao said affectionately, pulling Lianxue aside.

"Lianxue, what your second senior sister said is true. Master also wants to know what you've gained today." With that, he reached out and pushed open the door, entering the room and sitting down at the tea table.

"Junior sister, Master said he wants you to experience life. Tell me how it feels?" The gentle, indulgent words were surprisingly pleasant.

“Master and Senior Sister, yesterday I saw a group of beggars. I thought I couldn't help everyone, so I gave that disabled child five taels of silver. But then I was surrounded by a group of beggars. I escaped using a talisman, but then…”

Lianxue recounted the events vividly, "Actually, I thought about running over to rescue that child, but..." At this moment, in front of her master and senior sister, she didn't hide her sadness and helplessness.

"Lianxue, you did the right thing. Even if you save this beggar, there will be many more beggars like him," Lu Yaorao said, stroking Lianxue's hair with pity.

"Your second senior sister is right. As the ancients said, 'Don't lament the injustice of heaven, for there is always light in the darkness.' Your master asks you, were those people who gave you money bad people?" he asked softly.

"Lianxue thinks they are good people," she hesitated for a moment before speaking.

“Yes, where there are good people, there are bound to be bad people. They warm others with their kindness, but they don’t realize that doing so will harm even more people. Are they wrong?” The determination in Ye Lan’s eyes gave Lian Xue courage.

Lianxue felt that they were not wrong; the wrong lay with those greedy people who took advantage of the kindness of good people to persecute more people. But Lianxue also knew that such people could not be eradicated. She understood the reasoning, but she still couldn't avoid feeling sad. If she eliminated the bad people and saved those two children today, she couldn't guarantee their future, nor could she guarantee that even if those two beggars were gone, more innocent people would appear.

"Lianxue, don't doubt yourself, believe in yourself. Look, there are shadows where the sun doesn't shine, and there are shadows under candlelight. This shows that light and darkness are inseparable; where there is light, there is darkness." Seeing Lianxue's conflicted expression, Lu Yaorao couldn't bear it and spoke up.

"Lianxue and the others have their own fate. Our interference might not be the best outcome; it could make things worse. I want you to remember one thing: even in darkness, keep your heart turned towards the light." Seeing Lianxue's conflicted expression, Ye Lan finally couldn't bear it and said earnestly.

"Yes, Lianxue will remember." She thought, even in darkness, her heart yearns for the light. Is this what the Li family is like? Suddenly, she remembered the woman who was beaten.

From that moment on, her master's words would be deeply imprinted in her soul.

"Oh dear, junior sister is still young, why say such depressing things, Master?" The words, which were soft and pleasant, came out of Lu Yaorao's mouth, making people feel that (Yaorao) truly lived up to her name.

"Come on, junior sister, see if your senior sister is pretty, hmm, isn't she got some curves?" she said, placing her hands on her chest and blinking her eyes, exuding an indescribable charm.

"I told you not to corrupt your junior sister, really. Fine, you can stay with your junior sister tonight, we'll leave tomorrow." With that, he turned and walked out of the room without looking back.

"Oh dear! Master is such an old-fashioned man, how can he compare to the cuteness of Junior Sister?" Her tone was reproachful, her eyes filled with displeasure. She then pinched and rubbed Lianxue's cheeks with both hands.

"And another thing, I'm going to share a bed with my junior sister tonight, just thinking about it makes me happy." If someone saw this, they would think she was flirting with someone's young master.

Lianxue looked completely bewildered, unsure how to face her lively senior sister. She desperately wanted to turn and run away. She didn't realize that her senior sister's antics had made her forget her inner gloom and worries.
