Wine-scented Beauty
Chapter 58: Escape
Chapter 58: Escape
Ji Meiqing took the opportunity to look around the place, but it was too unfamiliar for her to recognize. The people on both sides didn't mind her looking around, but the group walked further and further into a secluded alley, and soon arrived at a deserted alley.
She didn't know how many turns they made until they stopped in front of an inconspicuous little courtyard. Ji Meiqing watched them open the door and go inside, and she was no exception, being pushed directly into the house.
The courtyard was secluded and desolate, clearly indicating that no one lived there permanently. There was still a lot of dust on the table. Ji Meiqing was pushed and stumbled forward several steps before regaining her balance.
Turning back, she saw them grinning maliciously as they approached her, and alarm bells rang in her mind. Ji Meiqing took two steps back, tense, "What are you playing at!"
The two men exchanged a glance before leering and saying, "What do you think?"
"I think the best decision for you is not to touch me." She laughed twice, then turned to the side to avoid me, and said at the same time, "As long as you are willing to let me go, you will definitely be rich and beautiful in the future. Look at you, working as thugs here, how much silver do you earn in a month?"
“But what does this have to do with us? Besides, you made such good promises just a second ago, but once you’re really free, you’ll want to have us torn to pieces.” The two men didn’t bother to argue and rubbed their hands together as they approached her. Ji Meiqing took two steps back. “But if you really touch me, the consequences will be far more terrible than you think.”
Having said that, Ji Meiqing's gaze turned cold. "I don't know if this was planned by you or what, but if I live, nobody knows what might happen next."
“A threat?” One of them arrogantly stepped forward, spat at her, and said disdainfully, “I like threats like this. Whatever it is, let’s have some fun first.”
They approached with sinister grins, ignoring everything Ji Meiqing said. They wouldn't listen; the ropes binding her were untied, and their hands reached for her belt.
Ji Meiqing looked around. Hoping someone would come to her rescue was less likely than saving herself. Fortunately, her limbs were freed, and with a slight movement, she pushed the person in front of her away.
I wonder what they usually eat, because it took them a lot of effort to push it. Before they could catch their breath, Ji Meiqing picked up the ropes.
She doesn't know martial arts, but these ropes are her last and only weapons now.
The rough surface of the rope cut into my palm and caused me a lot of pain.
She taut the rope, watching them warily as they approached. Before they were fully close, Ji Meiqing swung the rope.
Seeing Ji Meiqing's small arms and legs, they assumed she wasn't very strong and therefore weren't very wary of her, treating her as just playing with her.
Ji Meiqing didn't intend to linger with them any longer. She took a rope, swung it left and right a couple of times, and glanced around, looking for a suitable exit.
However, there were only two windows here, and unfortunately, both windows were opposite her, and opposite her were two menacing people.
Ji Meiqing kept backing away, but before she could get very far, the two pounced on her. Ji Meiqing couldn't help but close her eyes, but nothing happened the next second.
She opened one eye and saw two men in black standing in front of her, both looking at Ji Meiqing with the same expression.
"I wondered what kind of person Miss Ji would be, but it turns out she's just a mediocre girl."
"I..." Ji Meiqing couldn't refute it, but looking at them again, she mustered up the courage to ask, "Who are you!"
"The princess was afraid you'd run away, so she ordered the two of us to keep an eye on you." She then curled her lip, "Who knew you'd be so useless? You couldn't even get away with two people."
"..."
She didn't know what to say, and the three of them swaggered out of the store. Ji Meiqing's clothes were slightly torn. The two women led her to a clothing store. Ji Meiqing grabbed a dress, changed, and then came out.
A pink tulle dress, looking very youthful.
The two men outside walked over and asked listlessly, "How was it?"
"Okay, how much?" She looked at herself in the mirror and said, "I'll pay you when we get back."
The two people behind them exchanged bewildered glances. "Shouldn't you be paying for it yourself?"
"Oh?" Ji Meiqing was surprised for a moment, then said, "I don't have any money."
The three of them were stunned for a moment, and finally Ji Meiqing broke the awkward silence with a surprised, "You guys... you didn't bring any either, did you...?"
"Ahem..." They looked away, and Ji Meiqing silently went back to change her clothes. She was inside the curtained room, and before she could even take off her clothes, someone suddenly burst in, grabbed her arm, and tried to pull her away.
Ji Meiqing was pulled out before she could refuse. Outside, things were in complete chaos. They only stopped to rest once they reached a safe place.
"What...what just happened?" Ji Meiqing was out of breath, sitting on someone else's roof, and she was also afraid that she would fall.
The two men still looked disdainful, but they still answered Ji Meiqing's question: "To make such a mess of things just by setting a fire, you're really... unusually cowardly!"
"Oh..." She was still a little dazed, but when she came to her senses, she was already in mid-air. Things below were flying past at high speed, and she closed her eyes, suddenly feeling a little unsteady.
A serious voice came from above. Ji Meiqing paused, then said with a hint of grievance, "I'm afraid of heights."
The guard who was carrying her paused, and the two almost fell. In her panic, Ji Meiqing grabbed the man's waist and managed to keep them steady.
However, the people next to her were not so lucky.
Although she wasn't as disheveled as when she fell to the ground, Ji Meiqing was still somewhat frightened. Only after she stepped onto the ground did she quickly let go of the person next to her.
"I'm sorry." She smiled apologetically, looking at the two people whose faces had darkened at the same time, and didn't know what to say for a moment.
Then another person spoke up, "The princess is waiting for you at the post station."
"Okay." She nodded, turned, and walked towards the center of the street. The two people behind her stopped following her.
There were quite a few pedestrians on the street, and the midday sun wasn't too strong.
Ji Meiqing squinted, then walked through the crowd. Last night felt like a nightmare; she almost didn't wake up. But thankfully, she was still in the sunlight.
