Chapter Thirty-Two: Framed

Ji Meiqing came out of Hu Mama's building. She delivered the goods for the next three days before going back home.

Lu Yu was sweeping the yard, and Tian Cuiwei followed behind him like a little tail, going wherever he went.

Seeing Ji Meiqing return, Lu Yu glanced at her and then silently lowered his head to sweep the floor. Ji Meiqing walked over and asked, "What's wrong?"

“Xiao Cui wants the Tian family to invest in our winery,” Lu Yu explained.

"The Tian family?" She frowned, instantly understanding what he meant, then looked at Tian Cuiwei, "You want the Tian family to invest, so what are you going to offer in return?"

“I was talking to my brother, not you,” Tian Cuiwei said angrily. “Besides, what does this have to do with you? Don’t think I don’t know you just don’t want our family to have a good time.”

“What does this have to do with me? Besides, this isn’t something Brother Lu can decide on his own, so why can’t I get involved?” She looked at Tian Cuiwei with a smile. “Investing also comes with conditions. Brother Lu has the skills, I have the ideas, and what about you? What can you give us in order for us to give you something of equal value.”

"I...I can get the Tian family to come and help." She stammered out that one sentence, then added, "As far as I know, you're short-handed right now. I can get the Tian family to come and help you solve this manpower problem."

"No need," Ji Meiqing refused without hesitation. "If this gets out, it probably won't be good for your reputation. Besides, your parents are working themselves to the bone here, while you're enjoying yourself outside. It's bound to cause gossip. Being unfilial is a serious crime!"

Tian Cui shrank back slightly, then looked at Lu Yu pleadingly, "Brother Lu, please get Sister Meiqing to agree. I guarantee that my parents will complete the mission on time without any mistakes."

"This matter is simply forbidden. It's no use saying anything to Brother Lu." She turned and left after saying this. Tian Cuiwei was furious, but immediately looked at Lu Yu pitifully, who shook his head helplessly.

After Lu Yu left, Tian Cuiwei stood there looking at the house in front of her. She knew that Ji Meiqing would not agree to her request, but she would not let Ji Meiqing have an easy time either.

In a couple of days, it will be time for them to deliver the goods. She wants to make Ji Meiqing ruin her own reputation and never be able to stand up again!

Thinking of this, Tian Cuiwei felt a little better. She went to the kitchen, took a large clump of salt, and went to the wine storage room. She reached out and opened the lid, then poured all the salt in.

She refused to believe that this wouldn't be enough to deal with Ji Meiqing.

Another day passed, and Tian Cuiwei settled down. Although Ji Meiqing was somewhat irritable, she was still in a good mood and took Lu Yu to the city early in the morning to deliver goods.

This time, the delivery was to a different establishment. This was the first time Ji Meiqing had ever delivered to this place. After the wine arrived, the people tasted it and accepted it, then paid her.

Counting the money in her hand, Ji Meiqing left happily. Lu Yu also seemed to be in a good mood, and looking at Ji Meiqing, he felt even better.

"What would you like to eat for lunch today?" he asked.

"Cake," she said instinctively, then quickly corrected herself, "Anything with meat is fine."

"Hmm..." he responded, but a question lingered in his mind. What was a cake? Could it be a new kind of pastry? Was it delicious? A whole host of questions popped into his head.

"By the way, to celebrate your successful opening, let's go out for drinks together."

"Let's go." Upon hearing about drinking, Lu Yu's eyes lit up, and the two of them rushed to the restaurant together. As soon as they entered, they ordered several jars of wine, and then each drank one jar.

"Come on, cheers!" Ji Meiqing shouted, raising her bowl. Lu Yu followed her lead, and the two clinked bowls and began to drink.

She had a surprisingly low alcohol tolerance; she hadn't even finished half a jar of wine before she collapsed onto the table. Lu Yu glanced at her, then continued drinking. Such a beautiful time shouldn't be wasted on such fine wine.

After he finished his drink, he let out a burp and carried Ji Meiqing back home. Tian Cuiwei looked at Ji Meiqing being carried back by Lu Yu in surprise, and then looked at Lu Yu; the two of them seemed to be drunk.

To prevent them from doing anything they would regret while drunk, Tian Cuiwei immediately went over to pull Ji Meiqing off Lu Yu's arms and then personally escorted her back to her room.

It's unclear how much they drank, but the overwhelming smell of alcohol emanating from them was almost unbearable.

After throwing her onto the bed, Tian Cuiwei went straight to Brother Lu's room. She was stunned to see that he was still quite lucid and was making his bed, looking like he was about to go to sleep.

"Why did you drink so much today?"

"Happy!" he shouted. "We're happy!"

"Even if you're happy, you can't be this happy!" Tian Cuiwei was slightly dissatisfied, but she still poured him a cup of tea and handed it to him, "Wake up."

Lu Yu took the cup, drank from it, and then handed it back to Tian Cuiwei, asking, "Where's Mei Qing? Where did she go?"

"Go back to your room and rest." Tian Cuiwei's face darkened. "You should think about yourself and stop thinking about others."

"Yes, could you go and check on her for me? She's not feeling well, and she drank so much today; she might be unwell."

Hearing Lu Yu speak up for Ji Meiqing, Tian Cuiwei's face darkened immediately. However, Lu Yu seemed not to notice, took off his boots, and lay down on the bed to rest.

Seeing this, Tian Cuiwei had no choice but to leave.

The weather was beautiful outside. She packed her things and left. If she didn't leave soon, it would be embarrassing once the truth came out.

Tian Cuiwei only hoped that this frame-up would be a complete success, causing Lu Yu to misunderstand Ji Meiqing, and then she could sow discord between them, and everything would fall into place naturally.

After packing her things, Tian Cuiwei didn't say goodbye to the people at the distillery; she only left a letter before hurriedly departing.

She had barely left when someone came to her door.

Ji Meiqing was grabbed and thrown to the ground, which is why she woke up immediately.

"What's wrong? What happened?" She looked around in a daze and found herself surrounded by a group of people.

Ji Meiqing yawned, the effects of the alcohol gradually subsiding.

"What can I do for you?" she asked them, looking at them with a very approachable expression. "I don't know why you've come here."

"Enough with the nonsense, Ji Meiqing. Let me tell you, we're not people to be trifled with." Several burly men glared at him, and Ji Meiqing gave a perfunctory nod.

"You were selling counterfeit alcohol. Luckily, our boss discovered it early, otherwise, I'd like to see if you could afford to compensate for the losses!"

Upon hearing this, Ji Meiqing immediately sobered up and came over: "What, what did you say!"
