Wine-scented Beauty
Chapter 106: Dilemma
Chapter 106: Difficult Situation
Madam Ji walked over with a furious expression and, without even asking Ji Tianci, immediately began to berate him.
Finally, still feeling unsatisfied, he had Granny Xu drag him to his room.
Ji Tianci kept his head down, not uttering a single word in rebuttal. When Granny Xu came over to help him up, he broke free in one swift motion.
"Young Master, Madam is doing this for your own good." She tried to persuade him earnestly, but Ji Tianci was still angry. However, he still walked forward and strode back to his room.
Madam Ji's orders could not be disobeyed, so Xu Mama had no choice but to have his door locked. Before leaving, she did not forget to advise, "If you want your aunt to have an easier time, then you must not embarrass Madam."
I don't know if he listened to me or not, but she did leave.
Sitting in his room, Ji Tianci's anger inexplicably subsided a little. For his aunt's sake, he had to give his mother some face, no matter how much he disliked her.
His anger gradually subsided, and he simply blew out all the candles before going to bed.
The Lu family had everything prepared; invitations had been sent out, and everything was arranged. The two welcomed their wedding as usual.
After a few days of free time, Ji Meiqing went to check on the wine shed again. As usual, Li Ming gave her a briefing on recent events, and Ji Meiqing wandered around for a while before visiting the wine cellar.
Li Ming remained silent for a moment, then followed her to a door. Ji Meiqing pointed to the door and asked, "What's inside?"
"It's for fermenting the wine; it contains the prepared wine and plum wine. I had someone set it aside temporarily," he explained, then unlocked the door and opened it.
Ji Meiqing went in first. It was pitch black inside. Li Ming took the lantern from the side and went in with her.
The passageway was damp and cold as they walked in side by side.
At the end, around the corner, lay a wide-open space. A row of wine jars stood neatly arranged before her. She slowly approached, walking towards them, even though the temperature there felt like it would freeze her solid.
"Currently, due to funding constraints, this is the largest amount we can allocate. As you instructed, each advance payment is deposited into the bank for working capital. I originally intended to inform you before proceeding, but you've been quite busy lately, so I acted on my own." Li Ming said calmly, without a trace of remorse.
Ji Meiqing was looking at the arrangement in surprise, her fingers lightly brushing against the wine jars; the quantity was beyond her expectations.
Seeing her like this, Li Ming added, "This was brewed by my own hands, but I consulted Brother Lu beforehand."
“He is a master brewer.” Ji Meiqing smiled slightly, stopped her steps forward, and turned to walk towards him. “Thank you so much for thinking of everything. If it were me, I don’t know when I would be able to get started.”
"Sister Ji, you're joking." Li Ming suddenly laughed, a hint of sarcasm on his face. Ji Meiqing didn't see it and didn't notice, simply saying, "Let's go out first."
Li Ming went out with her, and only when they got upstairs did they feel the real warmth, and the chill on their bodies quickly dissipated.
"It's getting late, I'll head back now. You can handle the rest. If you have any questions, feel free to come to me." After saying that, she felt there was nothing more to say, so she smiled and left.
When the people in the work shed saw her leaving, they all offered their blessings and saw her off. Ji Meiqing smiled and said a few words to them before leaving as well.
After checking on things at the factory, Ji Meiqing returned home and saw Lu Yu packing his things, so she went over to help him.
She looked at the clothes in her hands and murmured, "Once I'm married, I'm afraid I can't stay at home and be a good wife and mother like other people. I have my own things to do, but I'll be more restrained."
"No need, just do it this way. I married my beloved, not a servant."
He said calmly, a faint smile always playing on his lips.
Ji Meiqing paused, unsure of what to say. He skillfully tidied his clothes, then, thinking about the future, said earnestly, "If you're not used to it yet, you don't need to share a room."
This topic was rather awkward; she lowered her head, her face flushed. She had thought about sleeping together, but each time it ended abruptly, and she didn't know what to do.
"Mmm." She nodded slightly.
Lu Yu tidied up the clothes and placed them in the closet. Ji Meiqing looked at what she was doing and immediately sped up, but then suddenly stopped halfway through.
"Why do you need to pack your clothes?" she asked, her gaze sweeping around the room, which was spotless and without a trace of dirt or mess.
"They said the newlyweds shouldn't see each other for the first three days of the wedding, so they packed up and waited three days to come and welcome you."
“Oh…” She was somewhat reluctant. Although it was a tradition, such a baseless tradition should indeed be abolished.
She looked up at the things in the room again, "If you go somewhere else, why does this room look like it's uninhabitable?"
“I bought a house in the city. Didn’t you say you wanted to live in the city?” Lu Yu asked in return. Ji Meiqing was taken aback, seemingly not expecting him to keep this in mind.
Lu Yu, however, acted as if it were perfectly normal, having already prepared everything. Ji Meiqing suddenly called out to him, "Wait a minute."
"Is there anything else?"
She lowered her head and lightly shuffled her feet on the ground. Lu Yu watched her for a long time without showing any impatience.
She stammered, unsure of what to say. The longer it went on, the more anxious she became.
Finally, she could only look away and casually ask him, "Do you really want to marry me, or is it just for something else?"
"It's just a home. That's all I care about."
The two exchanged a smile, their minds in perfect agreement.
Ji Meiqing quickly finished and left. The kitchen was quiet and deserted, but she was stunned when the pot lid was lifted.
She put the lid back down and then ran to find Lu Yu.
She stood at the door, panting heavily, watching Lu Yu walk away, and said with a sigh, "Be careful on the road."
Lu Yu paused, and although he didn't respond to Ji Meiqing, his steps quickened. Ji Meiqing stood at the door watching his figure gradually disappear.
She turned around and went back into the house to bring up all the prepared food. To avoid her having to do anything else, Lu Yu had already prepared the food and put it in the pot.
Three dishes and a soup, just like before. This time it's a bit more lavish, with fish, meat, and a bowl of bone broth.
Prepare according to her preferred tastes.
Ji Meiqing picked up some food and ate alone. She would have to spend the next three days by herself. The food on the plate suddenly lost its flavor, and she put down her chopsticks after taking two bites.
