Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad
Chapter 88 Apricot Blossom Gets into Trouble
With the bamboo pole matter settled, Luo Feng could finally get some rest. His uncle's arrival had not only brought trouble to Luo Shun, but also greatly annoyed him.
Luo Feng's purpose in temporarily avoiding the limelight at the wedding courtyard wasn't to escape, but rather to think about how to get along with these relatives in the future. After all, they were all related to him in some way; he couldn't just condemn them all.
After resting for a night, Luo Feng came to the store as usual the next day. Since he didn't have anything else to do, he could only keep an eye on things at the store.
Originally, Luo Feng thought he could spend the day leisurely in the store, but unexpectedly, the kindergarten called at noon and asked him to come over.
This phone call terrified Luo Feng. He thought something had happened to Xinghua, so he rushed to the kindergarten.
The kindergarten teacher called me because of Xinghua, but it was completely different from what I had expected.
When Luo Feng arrived at the kindergarten, he saw his daughter standing to the side wiping away tears, and next to her was a chubby little boy with tears in his eyes. Both of their clothes showed signs of being pulled apart, indicating that they had just been fighting.
She glared at Xinghua with annoyance; this child was getting more and more mischievous.
Before Luo Feng could even ask the teacher about the situation, the woman next to the chubby boy spoke up first: "You must be this child's father. Look at how your daughter beat our son."
As he spoke, he pulled the chubby boy in front of Luo Feng. Upon closer inspection, Luo Feng noticed a bruise near the chubby boy's eye and several scratches on his face.
"Xinghua, did you do all this?" Luo Feng asked sternly.
"I……"
Before Xinghua could finish speaking, Luo Feng guessed from her expression that she must be the culprit behind this.
"How could you fight with your classmate? Apologize to him right now." Luo Feng said, pulling Xinghua down in front of the chubby boy and making her apologize.
"I don't want to! He's the one who said I was a motherless child first, that's why I hit him." Xinghua pouted after saying that, looking unwilling and as if she had suffered a great injustice.
"No matter what, you can't hit people. Apologize right now." After listening to his daughter's words, Luo Feng first glanced at the chubby boy, and then said to Xinghua.
"No way! Daddy's so mean! I don't want Daddy anymore!" Xinghua said, then ran out crying without looking back.
This made everyone in the room a little embarrassed. The chubby boy was young and didn't understand much, so it was common for him to say things without thinking.
But that doesn't mean the adults were also ignorant. The woman first coaxed the chubby boy out the door, and then kept apologizing to Luo Feng, saying that she hadn't taken good care of the child.
In this way, Luo Feng couldn't really lash out. He couldn't possibly argue with a woman; he simply couldn't bring himself to do such a thing.
After apologizing to the teacher, Luo Feng went out to find Xinghua. The most important thing now was to calm Xinghua down.
Luo Feng planned to take Xinghua back home, and skip her afternoon classes. Given his daughter's current state, it was better to give her a break, otherwise who knows what kind of trouble she might cause.
"Xinghua went back with her father."
"I don't want to. Stay away from me. I don't want to see you."
"Xinghua, Father was wrong just now. Can Father apologize to you now?"
There was a reason for this, and it can't be entirely blamed on Xinghua, so Luo Feng started speaking softly to his daughter.
"I'm not going to forgive you! I'm never talking to you again!" Xinghua said, and ran straight out of the kindergarten.
"Wait, Xinghua, you haven't taken your schoolbag yet." Luo Feng called after her, but Xinghua didn't turn around and quickly disappeared around the corner.
Having no other choice, Luo Feng could only help Xinghua tidy up her things first, and then he caught up with her.
Xinghua cried as she ran, so Luo Feng had to exert a lot of effort to finally catch up with her just before they reached the shop.
"Xinghua, Xinghua, slow down, don't fall!" Luo Feng shouted after Xinghua from a distance. But Xinghua continued running forward without turning her head, completely ignoring Luo Feng's desperate shouts behind her.
"What kind of karma have I created to have such a little devil by my side?" Luo Feng muttered to himself as he watched his daughter return safely to the shop and run upstairs.
"What's wrong with Xinghua?" Ade, who was serving dishes in the shop, happened to see this scene and quickly went to Luo Feng's side to ask.
"Sigh, she's upset with me because she thinks I wronged her," Luo Feng sighed and replied.
"Oh, I see. Don't worry, he's just a kid. He'll be fine in a few days," Ade said nonchalantly. Everyone goes through this when they're young, and he's never heard of a little brat holding a grudge.
"I hope so," Luo Feng said, then took his daughter's schoolbag and went upstairs.
At this moment, Xinghua was hiding alone in her room, secretly wiping away tears, while clutching the teddy bear that Luo Feng had bought for her.
"Father, what does Mother look like? I've never seen her since I was little."
Luo Feng seemed a little flustered when his daughter suddenly asked him this question.
To be honest, Luo Feng didn't have much of an impression of Xinghua's mother. Now, when he thought back, he only had a vague figure in his mind.
"Damn it, I can't remember anything. Besides, I can't draw, so I can't draw the characters in my mind. If only I had a photo." Luo Feng said to himself.
But then he suddenly realized that he didn't seem to have taken any photos with Xinghua's mother. The two met through an introduction, and having grown up in the countryside, they had basically never left their village and had little worldly experience. In addition, Luo Feng's family wasn't very wealthy at the time, so their wedding was very simple. Not to mention wedding photos, they didn't even seem to have gotten a marriage certificate, just to save a few yuan by not paying the civil affairs bureau.
In this era, there are many couples like Luo Feng. They have children and live together for many years, only to find that they don't even have a marriage certificate and are in an illegal cohabitation relationship.
This kind of thing isn't necessarily strange in this day and age, but what makes Luo Feng sad is that Xinghua misses her mother but doesn't even have a single picture of her.
Looking at his daughter's face, which was full of hope for an answer from him, and feeling her burning gaze, Luo Feng couldn't take it anymore.
"I'm sorry, it's all my fault." He hugged his daughter tightly and whispered to her.
"Father, I want a mother, so my classmates won't laugh at me for being a motherless child," Xinghua said to Luo Feng.
Hearing his daughter's words, Luo Feng fell silent. These things don't just happen; he had to wait until he met the right person.
However, Luo Feng was somewhat worried. If he really found another woman, would his daughter truly be happy?
