Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad

Chapter 56 Return of the property to its original owner

Having been kicked out by Luo Feng, Biaozi had no choice but to return the items to Wu Muxiu as Luo Feng had instructed. Originally, Biaozi planned to catch up with the girl on the way and shove the items directly into her hands, thus avoiding some of his embarrassment.

Strangely, after leaving the village, Biaozi searched everywhere but couldn't find the girl. Left with no other option, Biaozi had to rush to Wu Muxiu's house to return the two items.

Although Biaozi had only met the girl once, and didn't even know where she lived or what her name was, this didn't stump him. The matchmaker had introduced her; she must be a beautiful young woman from the surrounding area, meaning she lived in a nearby village. This made things much easier. Judging from the girl's face and figure, she was exceptionally beautiful and must be well-known in the surrounding villages. He could easily find her exact address with a simple inquiry.

If all else fails, you can always find a matchmaker, right? A while ago, Luo Feng's blind date was the talk of the village; Biaozi and the others had heard about it. Rural gossip isn't just casual talk; those idle women won't let go until they've dug up every detail. Especially when it comes to scandalous stories between men and women, they go into even more detail.

Biaozi originally wanted to find someone to inquire about the girl's address. However, to his surprise, the villagers were more concerned about the murder case that had occurred in Xiaowangzhuang a few days ago, and no one had time to care about anything else. After some trouble, Biaozi finally found out that the girl's name was Wu Muxiu, and she lived not far from here.

Biaozi thought that now that he knew the girl's address, he should hurry up and return the things. He also wanted to avoid Luo Feng accusing him of incompetence. If Luo Feng got angry and withheld his living expenses, he'd be starving for the next two months.

With this in mind, Biaozi dared not delay and hurried to Wu Muxiu's house.

After walking for about an hour, Biaozi finally found the village where Wu Muxiu lived. It was a small mountain village called Wuling Village, with only forty or fifty households, just like Luojia Village.

Asking the villagers for details about Wu Muxiu's address drew strange looks from many people. They didn't really say anything, but seeing Biaozi carrying things and asking about Wu Muxiu's address, they assumed some silly young man had taken a liking to the girl and was about to visit her.

Rural areas naturally have their own customs, and when dating a girl, certain etiquette must be observed. Someone like Biaozi, who directly brings gifts to a girl's house, is bound to be met with disdain. And those young men in the village who probably have feelings for Wu Muxiu, they wish they could give this arrogant brat a good beating. Whose wild boy is this? He's so unruly!

After much effort, Biaozi finally found out that Wu Muxiu's family lived at the east end of the village. They said her father owned the blacksmith shop at the east end of the village. Without hesitation, Biaozi planned to deliver the goods as soon as possible so he could go home and report to Luo Feng. Biaozi secretly vowed to himself that he would never do anything like this again, one that would earn him such disdain. As for Luo Feng's threat to deduct his wages, he figured he'd just let it go.

Poor Biaozi had no idea that this was just the beginning; he was about to face the wrath of the Wu family. Frankly, this was far more terrifying than the villagers' disdain.

Biaozi couldn't say anything, after all, Luo Feng had wronged the girl. Having a gift that expressed his feelings returned by the man was a huge blow to the woman. Naturally, the parents didn't want to see their daughter suffer. They were already angry when they saw her come home with a long face. After learning the details, the Wu family elders' anger towards Luo Feng reached a new level.

At this point, Biaozi actually returned the items, which was a blatant slap in the face.

Seeing that Biaozi had returned the things, Wu Muxiu immediately scurried into her room. She was too ashamed to face anyone in this situation and wished she could disappear into the ground. Old Man Wu, being a blacksmith by trade, was naturally hot-tempered, given his daily exposure to smoke and fire. Upon seeing Biaozi, the old man's anger flared up. He was clearly furious; pointing at Biaozi, he was speechless for a moment. But Biaozi could sense his anger, as the old man's entire body trembled with rage.

In contrast, Old Wu's wife was quite different. The moment she saw Biaozi, she would bark and claw at him. Being a woman, she didn't possess much offensive power, and Biaozi naturally paid her no heed.

Biaozi kept dodging the old woman's attacks while trying to calm her down, worried that she might hurt herself if she got too agitated.

Who knew that trying to persuade her would only make things worse? The old woman became even more agitated. Just moments ago, only she was fighting, but now Old Man Wu had joined the fray with a stick. There was nothing Biaozi could do; since they were using weapons, he couldn't fight back and could only run around the yard.

As he ran, he kept explaining to the two elderly people, "Uncle, Aunt, this is not my fault. It was all Feng's idea. He asked me to bring these things back to you." Thinking that Luo Feng had given him this hard job, Biaozi naturally wouldn't be polite to him and betrayed Luo Feng without saying a word.

"Are you telling the truth? This was all Luo Feng's idea." Old Wu stopped and asked Biaozi, who was standing some distance away, while pulling his excited wife back.

“That’s right, it was all Feng’s idea. She made me do it. It really has nothing to do with me!” Biaozi nodded his head like a rattle-drum, afraid of being beaten again.

"Then why doesn't he come himself? Is it because he's ashamed or afraid of getting beaten up?" Old Man Wu asked.

"How would I know all this? I'm not a mind reader," Biaozi said irritably.

"Goodness gracious! That brat Luo Feng is clearly making a fool of our family. I must teach him a lesson tomorrow!" Old Man Wu said angrily after hearing Biaozi's words. His wife nodded in agreement.

"That's too much. People like that need to be taught a lesson so they know that our family isn't easy to bully."

Seeing that the two elders were preparing to teach Luo Feng a lesson, Biaozi naturally didn't say anything. After all, Luo Feng had given him a tough job today, and he had suffered quite a bit. At a time like this, it would be a miracle if Biaozi sided with Luo Feng.

Desperate to avenge his earlier humiliation, Biaozi decided to go all out. While trying to calm the two elderly people, he began to speak ill of Luo Feng. Of course, most of this was fabricated by Biaozi. It was clear that Biaozi was truly willing to do anything for revenge.

"Brother Feng, you'd better pray for yourself." Biaozi muttered to himself as he looked at the two angry old men.
