Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad
Chapter 38 Reunion with Wang Dana
After attending his daughter's parent-teacher conference, Luo Feng returned to the shop. Xinghua and the others wouldn't be on vacation until the end of the week, so it seemed he needed to hurry and finish what he needed to do. He figured he could take advantage of his daughter's school break to get the work done, so he could spend a few days with her during summer vacation.
With this in mind, Luo Feng decided that there was no time to lose and he needed to act quickly. Since he planned to separate the wedding planning business from the shop, his immediate priority was to find someone reliable to mentor Zhu Gan and the other two.
As for the person to be chosen, Luo Feng had already selected Wang Dana. Don't let his questionable character fool you; this kid has some skills, otherwise he wouldn't be in the wedding planning business. Therefore, having him as the mentor is perfect. The only question is, what will his attitude be?
However, Luo Feng didn't have time to think about that now. Without considering the consequences, he went to Wang Dana's house. Whether Wang Dana agreed or not was one thing, but if he didn't go, there would be no hope at all.
When they arrived at the courtyard where Wang Dana lived, the gate was locked and there was no sound from inside.
"Strange, Officer Liu, didn't you say that kid Wang Dana was released a long time ago?" Luo Feng muttered to himself, somewhat puzzled.
However, he decided to try knocking on the door. After all, Officer Liu wouldn't lie to him; maybe the person was really home. So, Luo Feng went up and knocked. But the way he knocked was no different from ours.
"Who is it? In broad daylight, can't a person get any sleep?" Wang Dana's loud voice echoed in the courtyard.
"Looks like the kid is really home." Luo Feng unconsciously quickened his knocking pace.
"Coming, coming! Who is it? Why are you in such a hurry? You've broken our door, are you going to pay for it?" Wang Dana said angrily as he opened the door.
"Long time no see, brother." Luo Feng greeted him with a smile, a smile that was unmistakably obsequious.
"It's you?" Wang Dana never expected Luo Feng to suddenly come looking for him.
"It's me. I heard you were just released, so I came to see you, brother," Luo Feng said.
"That sounds nice, but you came to see me. You're just here to laugh at me, aren't you?" Wang Dana retorted irritably and prepared to close the door.
"Wait, let's talk first." Luo Feng quickly stuck his foot into the door crack and then retorted to Wang Dana.
"We have nothing to talk about. You should leave now. I don't want to see you." With that, Wang Dana kept pushing Luo Feng toward the door.
But to everyone's surprise, Luo Feng's lower body was very stable. No matter how Wang Dana pushed him, Luo Feng did not move at all, as if he were rooted to the ground.
"What exactly do you want? Can't you just let me go?" Wang Dana, seeing that he really couldn't do anything to Luo Feng, gave in a little.
"As I said, I just wanted to talk to you," Luo Feng replied.
"What's there for us to talk about? Haven't you heard the saying that competitors are enemies?" Wang Dana said impatiently. Clearly, he still didn't believe Luo Feng's words.
"I know you're powerful, I'll just avoid you from now on, okay?" Wang Dana begged Luo Feng for mercy.
"I really came here to have a talk with you, don't overthink it." Luo Feng said helplessly, looking at Wang Dana's behavior.
"Then say what you have to say quickly, and leave as soon as you're done." It seemed that Wang Dana wanted to end this trouble as soon as possible.
"To be honest, I came here today to give you money, brother." Seeing that Wang Dana had little patience, Luo Feng could only try to keep him hanging on for now.
"What did you say?" Wang Dana didn't react for a moment, thinking he had misheard.
“I said I’m here to give you money,” Luo Feng repeated.
"Where's the money? Give it to me." Wang Dana opened the door and casually held out a hand.
"Seriously, bro? You want me to hand over money now? You can't flaunt your wealth." Luo Feng feigned surprise.
"Yes, yes, you're right. Come on in, come on in." Wang Dana seemed to realize that what he was doing was inappropriate. He looked around, then pulled Luo Feng into the house and closed the door.
"Where's the money? Give it to me right now." Wang Dana said to Luo Feng as soon as he entered the room.
"Seriously? That's so unfair of you. This is my first time visiting your house, and I haven't even had a sip of tea, yet you're already asking me for money," Luo Feng said, feigning displeasure.
"Yes, yes, that's not appropriate. Xiao Cui, bring some tea." Wang Dana then realized he had been abrupt and called out into the room.
Luo Feng was still wondering why he had heard that Wang Dana was all alone and that he had never heard of him having a wife or children.
At this moment, a young woman came out of the inner room carrying a teapot. She appeared to be about seventeen or eighteen years old, with a slender figure and delicate features. The young woman poured tea for Luo Feng with a somewhat shy demeanor, then went back into the inner room.
"I've never heard anyone mention that you have a wife and daughter. Tell me, where did you abduct them from? Let me tell you, it's illegal to abduct girls like that," Luo Feng asked Wang Dana with great gossip.
"What are you talking about? This is my niece. Her mother sent her here to learn a trade from me." Wang Dana glared at Luo Feng and said seriously. But he immediately realized what he meant and said to Luo Feng, "Okay, don't change the subject. Where's the money? Give it to me right now."
"What's the rush? Wait a minute, I'll get it for you right away." As he spoke, Wang Feng pulled out an oil paper package from his pocket. Judging by its size, it must have contained several thousand yuan.
Without a word, Wang Dana snatched the oil paper package and started tearing it open, completely disregarding the fact that Luo Feng was sitting right next to him. With money, he figured Luo Feng would forget everything.
As Wang Dana was taking it apart, he sensed something was wrong. The shape had changed, and it was getting smaller and smaller. But he patiently continued taking it apart, and finally, when he opened it, he found a small packet of peanuts inside.
"What do you mean by this? Are you trying to make fun of me?" Wang Dana pointed to the small bag of peanuts in his hand and said to Luo Feng.
"I didn't have anything planned for today, so I came to have a drink with you, chat, and maybe discuss something. The peanuts are from the shop; they'll be perfect for us to have with our drinks," Luo Feng said bluntly.
"Did you come here specifically to have a drink with me?" Wang Dana asked Luo Feng suspiciously.
"That's right, I came here today specifically to have a drink and a chat with you," Luo Feng replied.
"As for the wine, don't count on me. I definitely won't pay for it." Wang Dana said, tearing open the packaging of the Huasheng rice, grabbing a few grains, and popping them into his mouth to chew.
"That's easy. Just have your niece go to my shop and say hello to my guys, and ask them to bring over some wine and food." Luo Feng smiled and snatched the peanuts.
"Xiao Cui, come out here for a second, I need to talk to you," Wang Dana shouted into the inner room. No sooner had he spoken than the little girl from before came out of the inner room again.
"Go to Luo's One Signature Dish, tell them my name is Luo Feng. Ask them to get me a few bottles of ice-cold beer and some side dishes," Luo Feng said to the young girl.
The little girl nodded in agreement, then turned and walked towards the door.
"While you're at it, see if the store has any chilled watermelon, and bring one over," Wang Dana shouted at Xiao Cui's retreating figure.
"Oh, you still want to eat chilled watermelon? You really know how to enjoy yourself." Luo Feng couldn't help but tease Wang Dana.
"What's the big deal? Everyone needs to have some pursuits in life. This is just my hobby," Wang Dana said nonchalantly.
"But it seems you're going to be disappointed, the store doesn't seem to have any watermelons." Luo Feng said with a smile to Wang Dana.
"What? Your shop is so shabby, you don't even have a watermelon," Wang Dana said, somewhat annoyed.
"My place is a restaurant, not a fruit shop. How could I possibly have that many watermelons? Even if I did, they would have been bought for my own family, and I reckon they've eaten most of them already." Luo Feng smiled and explained the difference between a fruit shop and a restaurant to Wang Dana.
"But don't be discouraged. If you agree to my terms, I'll bring you two chilled watermelons next time I come," Luo Feng said, seeing Wang Dana's displeasure.
"Seriously, what is it you want to see me about today?" Wang Dana suddenly realized that Luo Feng must have something important to discuss with him today.
"No rush, no rush. People say that after three rounds of drinks and five courses of food, we can talk again after we've eaten and drunk our fill," Luo Feng said, deliberately keeping Wang Dana in suspense.
