Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad
Chapter 328 Detour Tactics
Although Luo Feng intended to talk to Bao Sheng again, based on his understanding of Bao Sheng, he knew that going in to see him now would inevitably end badly. Besides making the relationship between the two more strained, it would have virtually no effect.
However, this does not mean that the conversation cannot continue; it just needs to be conducted in a different way.
"Never mind, let's take the gamble. Hopefully I'm right," Luo Feng muttered to himself, then turned and ran out the door. Time was running out; he needed to give everyone an explanation by dawn, which meant he had to hurry.
Without stopping, Luo Feng arrived at the school cafeteria again. Although he was already panting heavily from exhaustion, he couldn't care less at the moment. Before he could even catch his breath, Luo Feng pushed open the tightly closed cafeteria door.
Upon entering, things looked alright; at least Biaozi and Afu were cleaning as instructed. This time, the cafeteria had more staff. Besides the two of them, there were several student-looking men and women busily working.
"Brother Feng, what brings you here? How's Baosheng?" The group seemed a bit surprised. No one expected Luo Feng to suddenly come back at this time. Perhaps they were worried that something might have changed, so Biaozi asked Luo Feng about the situation. Apart from him, no one else really had the guts to do so, especially at a time like this.
"Don't ask me about this. I don't know how things will turn out either. After all, you guys have really messed things up this time. It's not even certain whether our school cafeteria can keep its business." Luo Feng said to the people in the cafeteria with a serious expression. In an instant, everyone understood the seriousness of the situation.
"It can't be that bad, can it? No matter what, the second brother is still our good brother. Brother Feng, can't you try to get in touch with the county magistrate? Maybe you can give him some gifts or something. Once things calm down, we can still do business as usual!" Perhaps wanting to test Luo Feng's reaction, Afu approached with a grin.
"If it were as easy as you say, I wouldn't have to worry about this," Luo Feng sighed, then glared at Afu, seemingly scolding him for speaking without thinking. Actually, Luo Feng knew very well this time that things had escalated to such a large extent; the higher-ups would definitely investigate tonight. Even if the county magistrate wanted to help, he really didn't have the power to stop it at this point. They say even tigers don't eat their cubs, which illustrates the importance of children in their parents' eyes. With so many children involved in incidents at school, it would be a miracle if their parents let it go so easily.
"Alright, I don't have time for your idle chatter. Tell me where that girl is? I need to talk to her about something." Luo Feng didn't give the others a chance to change the subject and directly stated the purpose of his visit.
"Brother Feng, what are you doing? Even you can't handle this, so what's the use of finding a little girl? She's still just a child!" Biaozi and Afu shook their heads repeatedly at the mention of this, and even the others nervously stepped back.
"What's your name? You, come here." Luo Feng didn't bother with any pleasantries and simply swept his gaze across everyone's faces. He noticed a little girl who looked rather nervous compared to the others, so he beckoned to her.
When Luo Feng said that, the little girl instinctively wanted to run towards the door. However, Luo Feng was blocking her way at that moment, and the cafeteria only had one main entrance; there was no other way out. So, the little girl eventually gave up on her escape plan and obediently walked up to Luo Feng.
"Why are you so nervous? I'm not a police officer, I just want to chat with you. Tell me, what's your name again?" Seeing the girl's appearance, he knew she was frightened. Considering that he would need her to persuade Baosheng later, he could only try to calm her down for now.
"My name is Huaihua, and I'm still in high school." The little girl's voice was so soft it was barely audible, but she managed to answer Luo Feng's question.
"Did you do this?" Luo Feng then asked.
"I...no...I was just too tired and didn't notice for a moment, so that's why..." Jaeger's question immediately frightened the little girl. She was so anxious that tears were about to come out, and her words became somewhat incoherent.
"Don't be nervous. I already know more or less what happened. Now I want to ask you, what are your thoughts on this? Do you really have the heart to let Baosheng take the blame for you?" Luo Feng didn't want to hear her explanation and interrupted her before she could finish speaking.
“I didn’t want to do this either. Brother Baosheng is a good person, and we’re from the same village. But Brother Baosheng insisted on taking the blame. He said I’m still young and it wouldn’t be worth it if something really happened to me.” Huaihua burst into tears and choked out the words that Baosheng had told her to Luo Feng.
"You bastard, what's Baosheng thinking? Isn't this just messing around?" Luo Feng was furious upon hearing this. He had initially thought Baosheng had fallen for the girl, but it turned out that wasn't the case at all. Judging from the current situation, their relationship was more like that of siblings.
However, this wasn't what angered Luo Feng, since it was Bao Sheng's private matter and he really couldn't interfere. What angered Luo Feng was that Bao Sheng's approach was completely wrong; not only did it fail to resolve the crisis, it actually maximized the harm caused by the incident.
No matter what mistakes Huaihua made, she was still just a high school student. If this incident was caused by other students at the school, then even if the school or parents had objections, they wouldn't interfere. In other words, besides the charge of negligence in supervision, she hadn't done anything else wrong. The most severe punishment the school could give Huaihua was expulsion. If she could mediate, there was a chance that this matter could be resolved peacefully.
But if the protagonist changes from Huaihua to Baosheng, the impact will be completely different. Huaihua is a student, while Baosheng is his employee. If Baosheng is the one who did it, then everyone will have an excuse to cause trouble for him. The cafeteria business is already lucrative, and if someone with ulterior motives uses this to escalate the situation, then he might really lose his business.
Luo Feng just couldn't understand why Bao Sheng couldn't grasp such a simple principle. He usually seemed quite smart, so why did he do something so foolish at a crucial moment?
There was no time for idle chatter, so Luo Feng cut straight to Huaihua and explained the pros and cons. Fortunately, the girl was educated and had a decent understanding. After Luo Sen's earnest persuasion, she finally agreed to talk to Baosheng, which brought Luo Feng some relief.
