Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad

Chapter 13 First Visit to the County Town

The success of this wedding banquet added another bright spot to Luo Feng's career. From then on, his reputation in the wedding industry grew even stronger.

Sure enough, through an introduction, someone else came to him. This time it was a young man wearing glasses. His father's 60th birthday was in two days, but he had looked at several places without success. With a try-it-and-see attitude, he approached Luo Feng.

Seeing that he clearly knew nothing but was pretending to know everything, Luo Feng couldn't help but want to laugh, but he held back for the sake of business. Without saying anything more, he personally cooked a dish and brought it up.

"Try it and see how your skills are," Luo Feng said to him. When dealing with this kind of person, Luo Feng never foolishly tried to reason with them. He'd just demonstrate his skills, and if they were satisfied, they could talk. This approach was often much more effective.

After taking a bite, the young man nodded and said, "It tastes good, I can't find anything wrong with it."

After that, things were simple. With this skill, the visitor trusted Luo Feng, and the price of 80 yuan was fair, so the young man agreed without hesitation. However, he made a new request. He didn't know anything about these things, and since he trusted Luo Feng, he wanted to entrust the birthday banquet to Luo Feng, and he would just pay for it.

This made Luo Feng suddenly realize that he had forgotten about this. A complete wedding planning service—it wasn't that difficult, and the profits were considerable. Without a doubt, he'd talk to Hu Zi and ask him to bring another reliable brother to help. They were determined to make this business a success!

Luo Feng certainly wouldn't refuse such a deal. So, the young man happily went home. Before leaving, he told Luo Feng that he would come to his house to help out in three days. As for the specific address, he didn't say it, only that his name was Wang Wensheng, and that Luo Feng could find out by asking around in the county town.

Luo Feng didn't ask any further questions; he knew that anyone who dared to say such a thing must have a powerful background.

Three days later, Luo Feng and Hu Zi, along with Xing Hua and Dun Zi, boarded a bus in the town to go to the county.

Last time I went to help Master Wu, I didn't bring Dunzi because we had enough people and didn't need him. But this time we're going to the county town, where we don't know many people. If we don't bring more people, we really won't be able to handle it. Besides, none of us have ever been to the county town before, so it'll be good for us to see what it's like.

After a bumpy journey, the group finally arrived in the county town. A few inquiries led them to Wang Wensheng's house, confirming Luo Feng's suspicions; his family was indeed wealthy. Luo Feng actually envied people like Wang Wensheng. Although he lacked skills, he was never hungry thanks to his father's connections. This was what later generations called people with capital.

Arriving at Wang Wensheng's house, I found it was a large courtyard. Since it was still early, there were only a few people in the yard. I went inside, found Wang Wensheng, and followed him to the kitchen. Sure enough, he hadn't prepared anything. Fortunately, the utensils were clean, only the vegetables hadn't been washed.

Without a word, everyone started washing the vegetables, including Xinghua. Once they were all done, it was almost time to cook. Someone outside said the guests would arrive soon, and the dishes would be served shortly.

Because of the time constraint, Luo Feng assigned tasks to everyone. Luo Feng was in charge of cooking, Hu Zi was in charge of making soup, Dun Zi was in charge of assisting, and Xing Hua was in charge of tending the fire. Cold dishes and stir-fries were served first, and soups were served last. After the tasks were assigned, everyone got busy.

It's pitiful to think about Xinghua; she has to do these things at such a young age. Other children are probably still begging for food and drink from their parents at this age. Looking at Xinghua's tender face, Luo Feng felt an indescribable sadness. But he had no choice now. He was working so hard now so that he could have a better life in the future. He silently vowed to himself that he would give his daughter a good life someday, then sighed and continued with his work.

Finally, the midday birthday banquet ended. Luo Feng and the others were so exhausted that they sat down on the floor, and Xinghua was almost asleep. Today had truly worn her out!

Although tired, Luo Feng was very happy. Mr. Wang, a man of good manners, seeing that the guests had almost finished eating, specially asked someone to call Luo Feng over so he could offer a toast to everyone as a token of his gratitude. He also praised Luo Feng's cooking skills, saying that if he needed any help in the future, he could come to him.

These words stirred Luo Feng's cunning again; it would be strange if he didn't take advantage of such good resources. Luo Feng was good at reading people, and he believed the old man wasn't lying.

Therefore, he plans to ask Old Wang to help him find a shop in the county town next time, since the village and town area is so small, and development requires venturing out. As for today, he won't disturb the old man's birthday celebration.

That evening, everyone busied themselves again, and it wasn't until late at night, after cleaning up the kitchen, that they finally had time to rest. However, they couldn't go back home and had to stay the night. Fortunately, the host family had prepared rooms for them; it must be said, people these days are quite hospitable.

The next morning, Wang Wensheng settled the debt with Luo Feng and also brought greetings from Mr. Wang.

Luo Feng also said a lot of auspicious words and asked Wang Wensheng to convey his greetings to the old man on his behalf.

Afterwards, Luo Feng and his group left the Wang family. Since it was still early and it was their first time in the county town, they unanimously decided to spend the morning exploring the town and then return after lunch.

Overall, the county town isn't very big, with only a few streets. However, it's quite populated and has a wide variety of goods, making it much more lively than the markets in smaller towns.

Luo Feng bought Xinghua a new dress. He remembered that Xinghua had never worn a dress before; after all, a girl shouldn't go without dressing up. He also bought Xinghua some snacks, knowing that he had tired his daughter out yesterday.

Tiger bought a few snacks, but Dunzi didn't buy anything. Luo Feng knew that all of Dunzi's money was managed by his father.

At noon, everyone found a place to eat, and in the afternoon they took the bus back.

All the way there, Luo Feng was thinking about moving to the county town, completely ignoring the chatter of Hu Zi and the others in his ear. He didn't even respond when Xing Hua called him.

Back home, it was already getting dark. After everyone had a quick dinner, Luo Feng kept Hu Zi and Dun Zi behind and told them about the move to the county town.

He had it all planned out. First, he'd have Tiger find a few reliable, quick-witted brothers, and he'd train them. After a few months, once the men were trained and they'd saved enough money, he'd ask Old Mr. Wang to help him find a shop in the county and expand the business to the county town. Then, he'd have everyone come with him to work in the county town.

Tiger didn't have any objections; he always went wherever Luo Feng went. He knew that as long as Luo Feng was around, he wouldn't starve.

Atsuko, however, said she needed to go back and discuss this with her father.

Luo Feng could understand this, after all, Dunzi was different from Huzi; Dunzi had a family, unlike Huzi who was a bachelor.
