"Get ready for the challenge!" He smiled, narrowing his eyes, as he seized the ever-changing darkness and light.

Everything rushed in like a tidal wave, leaving Yu Yuetong's mind blank. The interplay of light and shadow and the flickering of runes before her eyes seemed to suck them both into an unknown abyss.

"Qin Reng!" she cried out, but her voice was swallowed up by the raging tide, and the fear that followed separated her from him.

Yu Yuetong's heart pounded like a war drum. The crystal ball before her seemed like a giant black hole, about to devour everything between her and Qin Reng. She could feel an invisible pressure closing in, making it hard to breathe, and her mind went blank. At that moment, she realized that she might really have fallen into an elaborate deception.

"Stop! What do you want?" Her voice trembled, but remained firm. Yu Yuetong turned around and grabbed Qin Reng's sleeve tightly; the atmosphere between them was so tense it was almost unbearable.

"This bride-to-be doesn't seem to fully understand the nature of the challenge." The cold-faced man smiled faintly, the indifference in his eyes sending chills down one's spine.

Qin Reng was sullen, his face dark and gloomy, like an impending storm. He clenched his fists, his gaze sweeping over the cold, menacing man like a knife. He didn't want to say another word to him; instead, he wanted to drag Yu Yuetong away from this strange place as quickly as possible. But Yu Yuetong clearly had no intention of giving up.

"I won't let you hurt anyone!" she said, each word distinct, her eyes shining with unwavering determination.

"Oh?" A sinister smile crept across the cold man's lips. He looked down at him, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "You think this will change the outcome?"

Qin Reng felt a surge of anger burning within him, as if flames were raging inside. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. "Don't push her any further!" he warned in a low voice.

"Haha, force her? I want you to undergo a real test. As long as you can break this curse, I will let you go." The man's face then turned cunning and eerie. "However, since you have chosen this path, you must be prepared to bear the consequences."

As the man raised the crystal ball high, the light in his eyes like a hellish temptation, after a perfect foreplay, it seemed to explode instantly. A bright light tore through the dark clouds, and two figures were swept into the dazzling light. At that moment, Yu Yuetong's uncontrollable panic turned into a strong instinct to escape, and many unsettling images flashed through her mind.

"Yu Yuetong, grab me!" Qin Reng shouted, trying to pull her back. But the fear deep inside him seemed to drown out his voice.

The two were drawn away by the light of the crystal ball, instantly becoming nothing and being led into an unknown darkness.

"How are you?" A familiar voice echoed in my ears, and the wind gently brushed past them, like a dream.

Although Yu Yuetong couldn't see his face, she could vaguely sense Qin Reng's anxiety. She quickly squeezed his hand, trying to remain calm. "Don't worry, I'm fine."

Countless images flashed before their eyes: Qin Reng's smiling face, the pain of being treated coldly, and the fear of losing everything. A multitude of emotions intertwined like a storm, suffocating them.

"We have to find a way to escape!" Yu Yuetong mustered her courage, her voice firm, as if driven by an invisible force. She felt she couldn't remain indifferent any longer, or she would lose everything.

"I'll find a way." Qin Reng's tone was firm as he gripped her hand tightly, a warm energy flowing between their clasped palms. His presence gave Yu Yuetong strength; even in dire straits, she felt she could still find hope.

The two were surrounded by the crystal ball, where invisible runes twisted in the air, forming layers of mist that seemed to be protecting something, but it was definitely not something good.

"Don't be afraid, this is just the beginning of the test." The cold man's voice rang out again, seemingly coming from afar, indistinct yet tinged with a cruel amusement, "Only by completing the task I designed can you hope to escape this curse."

"What do you want?" Yu Yuetong suppressed her inner fear and regained her composure.

"Within 48 hours, you need to find the truth behind the bond between you. Heh, a small task, isn't it? Failure will mean you'll be separated forever." The cold man paused, a chilling smile creeping across his lips. "The way you two interact might be quite interesting~"

"To be separated forever?" Yu Yuetong felt a huge blow in her subconscious. The tangled emotions in her heart surged up like a tide, almost suffocating her.

"Then it's too late for anything we can do now!" she said emotionally, a deep despair on her face.

“Even if it seems like a dead end, I will find a way!” Qin Reng replied immediately, looking at Yu Yuetong with determination and a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

However, just as everyone was gripped by a tense atmosphere, a rustling sound came from behind them, and a chilling aura swept over them. The gloom carried on the wind made them feel inexplicably uneasy and angry.

"Oh, figured it out now?" The sinister man looked back, his smile growing increasingly sinister. "It's alright, time waits for no one."

A soft laugh shattered the tense atmosphere, like a blade slicing through fragile nerves, accompanied by a chilling fear. In the face of imminent doom, time seemed to stand still, life a dance about to end, and the tide of the challenge was quietly closing in.

"We must hurry and find a way to find the truth!" Yu Yuetong said firmly again, her voice filled with an uncontrollable sense of urgency.

Yu Yuetong's heart pounded like a drum, almost bursting out of her chest. This test was undoubtedly the most severe challenge to her relationship with Qin Reng—to uncover the truth behind the bond. In this dark space, she glanced at Qin Reng: his face, filled with both anxiety and determination, made her feel incredibly warm, and a glimmer of hope rose in her heart.

"We have to think of something." Yu Yuetong said, squeezing his hand tightly, secretly determined not to let her emotions be controlled by fear.

"Really? You can escape with such a small task?" Qin Reng frowned, seemingly not quite believing it.

Yu Yuetong's voice remained firm: "Even if it's a small task, we can't back down! The consequences of failure are too terrible." She paused briefly, thought for a moment, and her expression softened. "No matter how difficult it is, we'll work together."

"Okay." Qin Reng nodded heavily. Although his confidence in her wavered slightly, deep down he also hoped to escape this endless darkness.

However, just as they thought of this, another chilling rustling sound behind them interrupted their thoughts, as if something was approaching them. The two quickly turned around and stared intently.

The cold, sinister man slowly emerged from the mist, a strange smile playing on his lips: "You only have one-seventh of the time left. Whether you can find the truth depends on your abilities." With that, he turned and disappeared into the mist, leaving the two of them to face the biting chill.

"What a madman!" Yu Yuetong clenched her fists, her face full of anger. "This mission is completely unreliable!"

“We must remain calm.” Qin Reng’s voice carried a hint of suppressed tenderness, his hand still tightly gripping Yu Yuetong’s, making her feel reassured. “Perhaps we need to start with our relationship.”

Yu Yuetong's heart tightened, and she turned her head slightly, a faint blush creeping up her cheeks: "Our relationship?"

“Hmm,” Qin Reng awkwardly withdrew one hand, somewhat hesitantly, “You know, I grew up in a family where many things were arranged for me. I never cared about feelings, but I never expected…”

"So now we're going to talk about feelings?" Yu Yuetong interrupted him, giving a slightly self-deprecating smile.

Qin Reng denied it with a look on his face, "No, I mean, our future should be somewhat different." His gaze shifted slightly to the right, as if avoiding Yu Yuetong's gaze.

Yu Yuetong felt something was off: "Just say what you want to say, why pretend like this?"

“I think the reason we swapped bodies is because our fates are intertwined.” Qin Reng’s voice gradually became firm. “To find the truth, we have to take the initiative.”

"So what do you plan to do?" Yu Yuetong raised her head, a hint of anticipation in her eyes. The man beside her had never seemed so real as he did today.

“I think perhaps we can recall what happened when we first met,” Qin Reng said in a low, gentle voice, tinged with a hint of nervousness. “Let’s sort out the story of how we met and find those clues.”

“But our facing each other is awkward.” Yu Yuetong shook her head helplessly. Just as she was about to push him away, Qin Reng stopped her with his hand, so the two of them hurriedly moved and bumped into each other. Instantly, the atmosphere became unusually ambiguous.

A strange current surged through their hearts, leaving them both silent. Yu Yuetong's heart nearly leaped out of her chest; filled with shame, she looked up and met Qin Reng's gaze.

"What, feeling guilty?" Qin Reng grabbed her hand in return, the unprecedented intimacy filling him with a mix of excitement and nervousness. "I was just giving you a hint!"

"We can't make the atmosphere more harmonious like this, can we?" Yu Yuetong asked, slightly flustered, and hurriedly tried to twist her hand away.

“But I want…to get closer.” Qin Reng’s words instantly heated the air, like stars blooming between them, breaking through their hearts.

"Why are you doing this?" Yu Yuetong took a deep breath, her voice rising slightly. "We're looking for the truth right now, and we really don't need to!"

"We need to find out the truth so we can get out of this place!" Qin Reng's voice was tinged with anxiety, and his eyes shone with a burning emotion. He suddenly moved closer, almost touching Yu Yuetong's forehead.

“This is my way. You have to try it whether you believe it or not,” Qin Reng said softly.

The atmosphere of that desperate moment was shrouded in a thick fog, with memories and the present constantly intertwining, yet seemingly becoming incredibly real. A complex mix of emotions was awakened within Yu Yuetong. Despite being in dire straits, her heart surged like a tide, feeling an urgent need to break down the barriers between them.

At that very moment, the cold, man's leisurely voice rang in their ears again: "It seems you've already lost control of yourselves. Does this help to uncover the truth?"
