After swapping bodies, I became a domineering CEO in a melodramatic novel.
Chapter 47 Are you worried about Qin Reng?
The hospital's white walls seemed to ironically highlight the pressure she was under.
"Why did this happen..." she murmured to herself, tears welling in her eyes. She felt that everything had become unbearable and fragile in this moment, except for the longing in her heart, which bound her tightly like invisible chains, making it impossible for her to escape.
"Wait a minute!" She finally mustered up her courage, turned around and ran towards the end of the corridor, only to see the cold wall mocking her.
Just then, the nurses seemed to sense the oppressive atmosphere as well. They rushed in and out, as if there was some urgent problem to deal with. Yu Yuetong lowered her head, feeling tormented, unsure how to start a conversation.
"Hey, are you alright?" In that instant, a gentle voice broke her thoughts. She looked up and saw the young doctor she had just met; his eyes were filled with concern and warmth. Yet, she could only lower her head, as if to hide the vulnerability in her heart.
"I...I'm fine." Yu Yuetong forced back her tears, managing a weak smile, but she knew she wasn't hiding her inner panic.
The doctor smiled slightly and continued, "Are you very worried about him?"
"Of course," Yu Yuetong replied softly, though a thousand words remained unspoken in her heart. Indeed, this worry had swept over her like a tidal wave, creating ripples while simultaneously engulfing her in utter helplessness. She nodded vigorously, as if all her unease was contained in this simple gesture.
"Mr. Qin is very strong, I believe he will be safe and sound." The doctor's voice was gentle, with a reassuring tone.
But Yu Yuetong didn't believe it. Deep down, the thought of those heavy footsteps at the hospital entrance sent a tidal wave of fear through her. Even though she knew he was bringing good news, for some reason, all the bright lights seemed to dim because of him.
She stopped thinking about those things, yet she couldn't shake them off.
I tried to comfort myself, and several times I felt an urge to speak, but I could never find the right words.
She couldn't help but turn around and catch a glimpse of the figure walking further and further away. She couldn't help but start walking, and hurriedly wanted to catch up with him and stop him.
However, it was too late; the cold wind at the door pierced her heart like a knife.
As she left the hospital, she happened to see an elderly couple holding hands, whispering to each other as if they were in their own little world.
"I told you, we're going to eat soup dumplings today, don't forget!" The old man said with doting affection, while the old woman covered his mouth with a smile. This scene made Yu Yuetong's heart soften like a spring breeze.
It seems that she and Qin Reng can never return to that sweet time.
The warmth in my palms began to dissipate, and longing and unease intertwined to form the deep night.
She wished she could be locked in those caring chains right now, instead of being thrown into this boundless darkness.
"I have to find a way." Yu Yuetong gritted her teeth inwardly; she had to find him. Just as she took a firm step, she unexpectedly bumped into someone behind her.
"Oh dear, I'm sorry." She apologized instinctively, her mind already racing with her next move, a smile unconsciously playing on her lips.
"It's alright, this is a hospital, everyone is in a panic." The man's gentle smile resonated with her instantly.
"Are you here to see someone too?" she asked, feeling a little more relaxed. The man before her seemed gentle and reassuring. Even though he was a stranger, he didn't seem like a hindrance.
"Yes, I'm waiting for my friend. I heard he's coming here today," the man said, but his gaze lingered on her face for a moment, as if he had noticed something.
"If you're free, shall I take you to a nearby coffee shop?" He seemed concerned about her feelings. Although he was just a stranger, the unspoken understanding between them made her want to rely on him.
"No, I'm fine, you go about your business." Yu Yuetong smiled slightly. Although she hoped to take this opportunity to relax, she still felt endless concern for Qin Reng.
The entire place is white, typical of a hospital, yet the unspoken thoughts linger within seem never to have been forgotten.
"Why don't I wait with you and we can chat?" The man seemed friendly, but it was more like he wanted to break the gloomy atmosphere.
Yu Yuetong hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded: "Then I'll trouble you."
Just as she turned to walk towards the coffee shop, a sense of unease began to creep into her heart.
Yu Yuetong accompanied the gentle man into a nearby coffee shop, the lingering unease still weighing on her mind. The coffee shop was filled with the rich aroma of coffee, and soft lighting cast a warm glow on everyone's faces.
“You look a little troubled,” the man said gently, handing over a cup of coffee.
"Yes, there are some things to take care of at home," Yu Yuetong replied politely.
The conversation between the two gradually became more natural, and Yu Yuetong began to relax. The man introduced himself as Mo Qingcheng, and upon hearing this name, Yu Yuetong was instantly stunned. Mo Qingcheng, wasn't that a supporting character in a novel? Immediately, she became alert again, paying close attention to his every move.
"Are you a little tired? You don't look well," Mo Qingcheng asked with concern.
Yu Yuetong forced a smile: "It's alright, it's just that I've been a bit busy lately."
The two chatted about trivial matters, but Yu Yuetong's attention remained fixed on Qin Reng. She was eager to know how Qin Reng was doing, but dared not leave rashly. The Mo Qingcheng before her, though seemingly gentle and harmless, still vividly reminded her of the cunning and ruthless methods she had encountered in novels.
"Are you worried about Qin Reng?" Mo Qingcheng suddenly asked, his eyes showing a hint of understanding.
Yu Yuetong was startled; as expected, the other party had already seen through her. Knowing she couldn't hide it any longer, she whispered, "Yes, he's injured."
Mo Qingcheng gave Yu Yuetong a meaningful look, then suddenly laughed and said, "You two have such a good relationship. He usually seems so cold and hard, but I didn't expect him to be so popular with women."
Yu Yuetong's alarm bells immediately went off; this person was clearly implying something. Just as she was about to find an excuse to leave, her phone suddenly rang. It was an unfamiliar number, and she answered it nervously.
"Ms. Yu, Mr. Qin is out of danger. Please come to see him." The voice on the other end of the phone was very polite.
With a slight sense of relief, Yu Yuetong immediately replied, "Okay, I'll be right there."
After hanging up the phone, she hurriedly stood up: "I'm sorry, I have to go see Qin Reng. Thank you for keeping me company."
Mo Qingcheng smiled and nodded: "It's alright, I wish him a speedy recovery."
After saying goodbye, Yu Yuetong rushed to the hospital, a sense of relief gradually spreading through her. Back in Qin Reng's ward, just as she was about to push open the door, she heard soft whispers coming from inside.
