Magical Journey: The Other Shore Blooms on the Other Shore
Chapter 77 The Garden of Demi-European Yaqi 5
The furnishings inside the garden were surprisingly simple. Based on Elena's instinctive thinking, a place like this should at least be magnificent, if not opulent.
But the overall feel of the garden is very simple and unpretentious.
The carpets looked like something you could buy at any furniture store, and the walls were simply painted a pure white. In many of the places Elena traveled through, the walls in the heart of the kingdom were crafted from various precious stones.
Hayley led the way, with Morissa and Elena walking side by side. Soon, they arrived at a conference venue.
"I'll just find somewhere to sit for a bit. I'm going to go chat with some boring person," Hailey said.
As soon as Hayley finished speaking, Morissa effortlessly led Elena to sit down in the council chamber, where a large number of various magicians had already gathered.
Among them were quite a few apprentice witches.
The methods for distinguishing apprentice witches are similar to those for distinguishing witches; apprentice witches usually wear a white flower brooch issued by the Magical Union Association as proof.
It's hard to say for sure whether Morissa is an apprentice witch, since she wasn't wearing the brooch, but judging from Hayley's tone, Morissa is very likely an apprentice witch.
The senators' seats surrounded the table in the very center.
The entire conference venue was shaped like a disc.
"Hey, isn't this Morissa? You're late again today, aren't you?" A magician had already noticed Morissa's arrival. "Slacking off at work and always late, I really feel sorry for your teacher."
His tone was full of hostility towards Morissa.
But Morissa ignored her and the magician who was mocking her, and turned to Elena, saying, "Elena, thank you for helping me."
It's not me who's helping you, it's the gold coins.
"Here are the agreed-upon ten gold coins. The teacher will discuss the amount for your help with the work later," Morissa said. "I'm so sorry, I was in such a panic that I subconsciously dragged you into this."
“I think Ms. Hayley seems quite kind,” Elena said, taking the gold coin. “Is she really that scary?”
"Huh? Kind? Hehe...uh hehe..."
She seems to have broken down.
I won't lose money.
"Do you know how many words are in the garden rules?" Morissa smiled.
"How many?"
"Twelve thousand three hundred and eighty-two words." Morissa's eyes died; her peach blossom eyes were quite beautiful.
"You know so much detail," Elena laughed. So many words, copying them ten times won't kill you, Ms. Hayley really is...
“Heh, it’s not like this is the first time I’ve copied this stuff.” Morissa stared blankly at the ceiling.
Suddenly, I was caught in an awkward silence; the worst thing is when the air suddenly goes quiet.
"Hey, who is she? How dare you ignore me, Carola..." The magician, annoyed that Morissa was ignoring him, approached. "I'm saying, what kind of friends does this good-for-nothing have... huh?"
Elena blinked at the approaching magician.
“So cute—I mean—you’re actually a witch, Morissa, you…” The magician hadn’t finished speaking.
"Silence—the Garden of Demi-Omega Witch Council begins tonight—anyone who makes a sound again will be banished." A loud female voice pierced through the entire hall, as if by magic, instantly silencing the once noisy hall, which resembled a marketplace, to the point that you could hear a pin drop.
Perhaps, this voice really does possess magic.
After all, the moment Elena heard the voice, she felt her mouth being gently closed by some force.
The magician, who had originally intended to say something, could only shut his mouth and return to his seat.
The entire venue dimmed, like watching a movie, with only a light source in the center of the circular table surrounded by eighteen witches.
This atmosphere subtly drew everyone's attention to these council witches.
Hailey was among them, of course.
"Today, we must pass this bill." Without any preamble, a witch stood up and waved her wand, and then a piece of parchment with something written on it appeared in front of each of the council witches.
"The Begonia Witch and the Rose Witch haven't spoken yet, so why is it your turn to speak, the tenth seat?" One of the witches seemed quite dissatisfied with this witch who had spoken first.
“Tulip Witch, it’s not your place, the thirteenth seat, to criticize me.” The Begonia Witch retorted forcefully. “You should all know that this bill is already on the verge of being passed, and the Horbelli riots are a bloody example.”
Helberry?
Elena heard a familiar name—the magical doll that had helped her escape from the junkyard.
What's up with her?
"We need to abolish all humanoid dolls... Their creation has deviated from our original intention in developing them," said the Begonia Witch. "If you hesitate any longer, the birth of the next Helberry will not be far off."
“But didn’t Holberry rebel because we wanted to overthrow her?” A witch at the round table raised her hand and spoke up. She was the youngest and seemed to have the least seniority among them.
"If we don't ban them, will they never have any ambitions? Put away your petty thoughts that could lead to the downfall of our country. If you're not senior enough, just listen to what the older generation has to say."
Under the begonia witch's attack, the young witch obediently shut up.
"It's time to make a decision. A short, sharp pain is worse than a long, drawn-out one," the Begonia Witch declared decisively.
“Holberley is an exception among exceptions. Magical dolls don’t have emotions to begin with. Is it really necessary to go to this extent? Your actions will provoke a strong backlash from the people!” another witch said.
"Lily Witch, you're getting more and more senile with age." These words weren't spoken by the Begonia Witch, but by another witch. "Lucky is our enemy. We shouldn't ignore potential risks. Do you dare say that the next sentient doll won't be born?"
"Rose Witch, haven't you considered the feelings of our people? What will those who have come to regard them as family think?" Hayley seemed unable to hold back any longer. "You can't ignore the will of the people."
"Heh, Rose Witch, this outcome is all thanks to you. I told you long ago that such unethical feelings should have been cut off long ago. If you had listened to me earlier, how could such a stupid thing have happened? Now we are just trying to fix things after the fact."
The entire Witch Council was transformed into a large-scale debate venue.
Even though no one was fighting, the smell of gunpowder was overwhelming. Now, all Elena wanted to do was go back to the hotel to sleep. She regretted not going back with Qin instead of giving in to her curiosity.
Now I have to attend these kinds of meetings while also dealing with work.
In short, she was extremely regretful—Irena showed no remorse for having just received ten gold coins from Morissa.
