Figure Skating: Waltz on Ice

After finishing composing a melody, Du Liangchen reached for his phone, saw that there were no messages from Mei Jing, and disappointedly opened the game again.

Before the game was even over, I received a call from Mei Jing. Without hesitation, I answered the phone, ignoring the fact that I was being scolded by my teammates for AFK and losing credit points.

"Hey~ good boy, you've gotten off the plane?" Du Liangchen said cheerfully.

Mei Jing blinked before realizing she'd forgotten to message Du Liangchen after getting off the plane. She quickly apologized, "Sorry, baby, I made you worry. I'm home now, but I have some good news for you!"

Du Liangchen felt a little annoyed when he heard that he had forgotten to let him know he was safe. He asked casually, "I'm playing games. Tell me your good news."

Mei Jing sensed something was off about the tone on the other end and didn't dare keep them in suspense any longer. "My dad promised he wouldn't stop us from dating. Are you happy, baby?"

Du Liangchen asked, both surprised and delighted, "Really?"

Mei Jing said proudly, "Of course it's true! With your boyfriend involved, there's nothing he can't handle!"

Du Liangchen could imagine how smug and proud Mei Jing must be over there.

The two chatted for a long time until Lan Xin asked Mei Jing to apply the medicine, and then they reluctantly hung up the phone.

Du Liangchen felt parched and, having finished his water, went out to get more.

Seeing Grandma Du come out of the room wearing a coat, I asked, "Grandma, are you going out?"

Grandma Du: "Yes, Grandma is going to the supermarket. Do you want to come?"

Du Liangchen took a sip of water, thinking that he was quite bored at home alone, and it would be nice to go out for a walk, so he agreed: "Okay, I'm going to help Grandma carry the bags. Wait for me a moment, I'm going to change my clothes."

Seeing Du Liangchen rushing into the house, Grandma Du called out after him, "Oh dear! Little Chen, don't rush, don't fall again!"

Du Liangchen changed into a sweatshirt and sweatpants, covered his face completely, and took Grandma Du's hand as they went downstairs to a large supermarket near the community.

Pushing the shopping cart behind Grandma Du, her big, dark eyes darted around, scanning the surrounding shelves. Suddenly, her gaze fixed on the shelf displaying little turtles, and she pushed the cart straight over there.

Grandma Du, who was walking ahead, turned around and was shocked to find that the child was gone. Then she saw him squatting by the entrance, playing with the turtle in the box.

When Grandma Du saw a row of boxes filled with little turtles, she said to Du Liangchen, "If you like them, buy one."

Du Liangchen's family knows that he has loved cute animals since he was a child. Cats and dogs shed fur, so he can't keep them because he has asthma. Hairless animals are a good option for him.

Du Liangchen looked at Grandma Du with bright eyes, held up the box in his hand and said, "This one will do. I just saw it 'breaking out'."

"Okay!" Grandma Du said indulgently.

Then they bought a lot of vegetables and fruits. Du Liangchen paid and was about to leave with the two big bags when Grandma Du stopped him.

"You don't need to carry it, it's too heavy. I've already arranged with the staff to deliver it to your door."

"Ah! You can do that?"

Du Liangchen followed behind his grandmother in a daze, watching her hand the shopping cart to the supermarket staff and watch them pack and seal it to prevent items from being lost during delivery.

“It could have been like this a long time ago. You’re so busy, how many times a year do you go to the supermarket? It’s normal that you don’t know this.”
