Near the fifth block of Beika Town, three adults and several children were furtively searching for something, leaving unsuspecting people completely baffled and keeping their distance.

The three children were naturally more interested in playing than investigating, but Conan was different. Hearing Takagi and the others mention the armed man, he understood the danger and therefore carefully observed his surroundings.

Conan, with his sharp eyes, spotted something on the ground not far ahead. He walked over, squatted down, and picked it up with his handkerchief.

"This is... a button? How come there's a button here? Did someone drop it here?" Conan held the button and looked at it carefully. It looked familiar. He glanced at it out of the corner of his eye and saw Matsuda Jinpei. The button on his cuff was exactly the same as the one in Conan's hand!

It was Officer Matsuda's button! Conan's gaze sharpened. He stood up and followed the direction of the button, walking around a car. It was a dead end. Conan listened to Ayumi and the others behind him as he continued walking until he reached the end.

Nothing was left on the ground except for a faint, dark brown mark. The mark was dotted and showed signs of being scraped.

Conan crouched down and rubbed the dark brown residue on his hand. The residue turned into powder after being rubbed onto his hand. He sniffed it and detected a faint smell of rust.

"This is...blood!" Conan's expression changed; he seemed to see the scene from last night right here. An injured person was hiding in this blind spot, while outside, people with guns were chasing him.

Conan took out the button he had found again. If this was Officer Matsuda's button, and he was in that spot yesterday, would he have found the injured person?

But if he found out, why didn't he tell Officer Sato and the others?

"Conan! Where are you? Did you find something?" Conan heard someone calling him, turned around and walked out of the corner.

Matsuda Jinpei saw Conan emerge from the spot where he had discovered Amamiya the previous night, glanced at him discreetly a few more times, and spoke first, asking, "Conan, did you find anything?"

Conan clutched the button in his handkerchief, thought for a moment, and looked up, asking, "Officer Matsuda, did you go behind that corner yesterday?"

“Yesterday… I did go check, but I didn’t find anything. What’s wrong?” Matsuda Jinpei thought for a moment and said. Conan took out the button in his hand. “No wonder I found your button over there, Officer Matsuda.”

Thankfully, I confessed, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to explain the button that brat pulled out. I hope that Amamiya didn't leave anything behind.

Thinking this, Matsuda Jinpei asked, "So that's where my button fell off. It was too dark over there last night, and I didn't notice anything before those criminals distracted me. That's probably when the button fell off. But Conan, did you find anything when you went over there just now?"

"I found some bloodstains there." Conan figured Matsuda Jinpei probably hadn't found anything; the area was unlit and a blind spot. If someone hid deep inside and didn't make a sound, it would indeed be difficult to detect them.

Thankfully, it was just bloodstains. Matsuda Jinpei subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief, but then felt that he was being ridiculous. Amamiya was the one who should be nervous.

Aside from Matsuda Jinpei's button and a trace of blood, Conan and his friends found nothing else.

“In that case, let’s go back and report to Inspector Megure,” Sato Miwako decided.

Matsuda Jinpei and Takagi both nodded. Just then, Genta suddenly clutched his stomach and looked grim.

"Genta, what's wrong?" Ran asked with concern after noticing, and everyone else looked over as well. Genta frowned and replied, "I... my stomach suddenly hurts a lot, I need to go to the bathroom!"

“It must be because you ate too much at lunch, Genta,” Mitsuhiko said.

Ayumi looked worried: "But what if there don't seem to be any public restrooms around here?"

"Hey, Officer Matsuda, you live around here, right?" Sato Miwako suddenly remembered and asked Matsuda Jinpei, "Could you please let this child use your bathroom?"

Normally, Matsuda Jinpei would have agreed without hesitation, but right now there's a big problem at home! What did he say? Did he drop the key down the drain?

It seemed a bit suspicious to refuse, so Matsuda Jinpei thought for a moment and decided to just say that Amamiya was some kind of relative of his.

"Sure, my home isn't far from here."

Jiang Jin took twenty minutes to reach Matsuda Jinpei's house. He didn't have a key to the house, so going out was easy, but getting in would require climbing through a window. Fortunately, before leaving, he had opened the side window of Matsuda Jinpei's house.

He had barely climbed over the threshold and landed when the door opened. He thought it was Matsuda Jinpei returning alone, but then he heard the voices of those three annoying children.

"Xiao Zhenping, you really know how to cause me trouble!" Jiang Jin didn't have time to climb back up, and the wound he had bandaged yesterday had reopened because of climbing through the window. He could only turn around and dart into the bathroom. After glancing at the bathroom where there was almost nowhere to hide, Jiang Jin chose to hide in the bathtub and drew the curtain.

Genta rushed into the house and then rushed to the bathroom. Matsuda Jinpei walked into the house with a heavy heart, but the person he was worried about was not in the living room.

Have they already gone into hiding? As expected of an assassin, they're certainly vigilant.

The wary little assassin was now in the bathtub in the bathroom, desperately wanting to kill someone. His wounds throbbed, cold sweat beaded on Jiang Jin's forehead, and he couldn't utter a sound.

How infuriating! These brats, it must be that brat Conan who discovered something and deliberately came here! Jiang Jin thought to himself.

Yuan Tai was straining with his head down when he suddenly heard the faucet in the bathroom turn on, the water gushing out. He looked up sharply at the sink opposite him, but the faucet was properly turned off.

He swallowed hard, thinking he must have misheard.

After a long while, he finished using the toilet and flushed it with a feeling of relief. When he turned around, he saw blood-red writing on the mirror of the sink across the way.

"what--"

Genta ran out of the bathroom in a panic, startling Matsuda Jinpei, Conan, and the others.

"Yuanta, what's wrong?"

"The bathroom... there's a ghost!"

Matsuda Jinpei was stunned. His house was haunted? What a joke, apart from Amamiya... Matsuda Jinpei suddenly realized, could this person be hiding in the bathroom?

Hiding away and still not behaving properly, even scaring children? How childish!

"Don't panic, what did you see, Genta?" Conan asked, pulling Genta aside.

"The faucet is running, and there are bloody words on the mirror." Yuan Tai's face was deathly pale. Weren't these scenes from those horror movies he'd heard about? Could police officers' houses be haunted?

Conan turned and ran immediately to the bathroom, with Matsuda Jinpei following closely behind. The bathroom was quiet, and there was no blood on the mirror.

"What do you mean there isn't? That kid must have seen wrong. Besides, I've lived here for so long, how could there be ghosts?" Matsuda Jinpei knew that Jiang Jin was just playing tricks on him, so he naturally didn't want Conan to stay any longer. "Alright, I still have to go to the Metropolitan Police Department with Inspector Sato. Let's go."

Since this was someone else's house, Matsuda Jinpei spoke up. Conan had questions in his mind, but he couldn't bring himself to ask to check the bathroom. However, before leaving, he still turned his head to look at the direction where the bathroom curtain was drawn.

"Takagi, I'll trouble you to take these kids back." Sato Miwako was naturally worried about Conan and the others leaving alone. Takagi nodded, "No problem, leave it to me."

Matsuda Jinpei was still worried about Jiang Jin at home, so he used changing clothes as an excuse to let Sato Miwako go back to the Metropolitan Police Department first.

After everyone who was supposed to leave had left, Matsuda Jinpei opened the door and quickly went inside, where he saw Jiang Jin clutching his stomach and looking pale as he came out of the bathroom.

"You went out?" Matsuda Jinpei frowned as he went over to greet Jiang Jin, noticing the blood seeping through the gauze of his wound. He then asked the question when he saw Jiang Jin wearing yesterday's coat.

Jiang Jin was helped to the sofa by Matsuda Jinpei. He plopped down, exhausted, and said listlessly, "I went out to contact my companions. I can't really stay here forever, can I?"

"Your wound has reopened. Sit down, I'll re-bandage it for you." Matsuda Jinpei said, turning to leave, but Jiang Jin grabbed his wrist, his dark red eyes fixed on him. "Why did you bring that brat along?"

Matsuda Jinpei reacted, "You mean Conan? You two know each other?"

“Yes.” Jiang Jin gave a sinister smile. “I’ve wanted to kill him many times.”

Actually, they had already killed him several times.

Matsuda Jinpei frowned: "Why? He's just a... somewhat clever kid."

Jiang Jin chuckled and, instead of answering, asked, "How did you meet him?"

"It was just a coincidence." Matsuda Jinpei told Jiang Jin about his encounter with Conan, and then Jiang Jin cursed viciously, "What a fucking coincidence."

Matsuda Jinpei shook off Jiang Jin's hand and said coldly, "If I wanted to arrest you, I would have had Sato and the others take you back to the First Investigation Division just now."

Upon seeing this, Jiang Jin immediately smiled apologetically, "Xiao Zhenping, don't be angry. Please have some understanding of this weak, pitiful, and helpless little assassin. After all, I'm afraid of everyone right now."

Matsuda Jinpei believed that the other party was not telling the truth, so he did not want to waste words with Jiang Jin. He took the medicine box, threw it to Jiang Jin, and turned to leave.

"Hey, didn't you say you'd bandage me?" Jiang Jin called out, holding the first-aid kit. Matsuda Jinpei replied, "Don't you have hands?"

Then came the sound of the door closing.

Jiang Jin shrugged, opened the medicine box, and muttered to himself, "How come he's even more petty than Ah Ling..."
