We bear people have power

To show his sincerity, Guan Bo invited the Six-Eared Macaque to Wuji City. However, to avoid further confusion, Monkey King had no choice but to ask him to move to Sickle and Hammer City.

Since both sides were treating him to good food and drinks, Guan Bo just wanted to resolve the matter properly.

The Six-Eared Macaque watched the Great Sage Equaling Heaven leave without changing his appearance, and instead entered the city disguised as the Monkey King.

Guan Bo served Liu Er fine wine and red fruit, letting him eat his fill before asking, "Brother Liu Er, you said you want to live forever, what exactly is going on?"

The six-eared macaque finished the fruit, clicked its tongue, and said, "Doesn't this make it clear? I'm about to die, and I don't have many more hundred years to live."

"But with Brother Liu Er's abilities, getting his hands on peaches of immortality and ginseng fruits shouldn't be difficult, right?" Guan Bo asked curiously.

"We've already eaten it all, and we're tired of it. It's not effective anymore," the Six-Eared Macaque sighed.

This sounds sincere; it's probably true.

In that sense, it makes sense that the Six-Eared Macaque wanted to kidnap Tang Sanzang to retrieve the scriptures in the original story.

Among the demons in Journey to the West, the Six-Eared Macaque is arguably the most unique. Other demons either coveted Tang Sanzang's physical body or his flesh... in short, they all wanted to "eat" Tang Sanzang, only the methods of "eating" differed between men and women.

This Six-Eared Macaque, however, wasn't after Tang Sanzang's flesh. Instead, he wanted to steal the Monkey King's position and even take Tang Sanzang away to retrieve the scriptures from the Western Paradise.

This is completely unpredictable; it's suicidal. If Tang Sanzang couldn't recognize it, surely Buddha could?

Now it seems less like courting death and more like a desperate gamble. He could only hope that Buddha would temporarily go blind, allowing him to slip through the cracks and attain enlightenment, thus escaping death.

If I weren't blind, I'd be dead anyway, so there's nothing more to say.

Even though Guan Bo had figured out the problem, it seemed there was something he couldn't do to help. The Six-Eared Macaque was truly dying; how could he prolong his life? Should he create a pair of black-rimmed glasses as a magical artifact for him?

Okay, seriously, if we look into it seriously, it seems like going to the underworld to extend his lifespan is a good idea.

Guan Bo suggested, "How about I go to the underworld and ask for help? Anyway, adding merit and lifespan is just a matter of a word."

The Six-Eared Macaque waved his hand and said, "It has nothing to do with the underworld. Even if they give me 300,000 more years of lifespan, it won't help. My soul is nearing its end. I will either be reincarnated or dissipate. Even Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva can't save me."

"Then why not reincarnate?" Guan Bo asked.

“If you drink Meng Po’s soup and lose all your memories, what’s the difference between that and being dead?” said the Six-Eared Macaque.

This statement is similar to that of the Little White Bone Demon, who would rather die than forget her memories with Nie Shuhuan.

“But with your abilities, Brother Liu Er, reincarnating with your memories shouldn’t be a problem, right?” Guan Bo asked again.

"Hey, are you even from Fangcun Mountain? How come you don't even know this basic common sense? I've already made it clear to you, I've lived too long, my soul can't hold on anymore, it's not my body that can't hold on," said the Six-Eared Macaque.

"Your soul can't hold on... Could it be that you have too many memories?" Guan Bo asked in surprise.

"Of course, otherwise do you think I have these six ears for nothing?"

The Six-Eared Macaque is skilled at listening, discerning reason, knowing the past and future, and understanding all things. This is his innate supernatural power; he is born knowing everything in the world. Therefore, from birth, the Six-Eared Macaque's memories are heavier than those of any other living being.

These immense memories compelled him to cultivate and grow stronger. A strong physical body and a nourished soul were both indispensable for him to bear these memories.

Tragically, the Six-Eared Macaque couldn't even forget. He was like a patient with hyperthymesia; he remembered every vein on a fallen leaf clearly, and couldn't forget it even if he wanted to.

Fortunately, because the Six-Eared Macaque could hear the world, he easily learned countless cultivation techniques. He could also clearly know where rare and precious treasures were appearing. This is why he cultivated such skills, enabling him to fight the Great Sage Equal to Heaven to a standstill.

But now, after struggling to live for over a hundred thousand years, even though his body is nearly indestructible, his soul can no longer withstand it. According to his calculations, this entire epoch will mark his death.

In this world, the only ways to achieve immortality of the soul are to attain enlightenment and become a Buddha, or to achieve the status of a sage. However, neither of these can be discerned by the Six-Eared Macaque through hearing.

Left with no other choice, he tried to seize the position that belonged to the Monkey King, hoping to gamble on becoming a Buddha. But the result was obvious: he failed miserably and was killed by the Monkey King with a single blow.

But Guan Bo's arrival in this Journey to the West world disrupted all eighty-one tribulations. The Six-Eared Macaque came not only to cause trouble, but also to save his life.

"Don't think I'm here to bully or force you. I'm here to make a deal," said the Six-Eared Macaque.

"What kind of deal?" Guan Bo asked.

"If you extend my life, I will tell you a great secret concerning life and death," said the Six-Eared Macaque.

"What secret?" Guan Bo knew how powerful the Six-Eared Macaque's ears were, so if he said there was a secret, it was probably true.

"You must extend my life first, or we're done talking," said the Six-Eared Macaque.

Guan Bo almost burst into tears. It wasn't that he didn't want to, but that he truly couldn't. It would be better to carry Mount Tai across the North Sea, something he could barely manage.

"Brother Liu Er's ears are so powerful that even you can't figure it out, so how could you think I could?" Guan Bo asked.

"It's strange, and I'm not bragging, but my ears are so good that even Buddha couldn't easily hide anything from me. I can hear about 70-80% of everything on Mount Ling. But you, you monster, everything about you is like I'm deaf. I can't hear anything at all. If you weren't standing right in front of me, and I could see your lip movements, I wouldn't be able to hear what you're saying at all," said the Six-Eared Macaque.

"You're so close, and you still want to read lips?" Guan Bo asked curiously.

“Otherwise, why do you think I’m looking for you? It’s because I can’t hear anything you say. In this world, you’re probably the only one who can help me. You are my only hope,” said the Six-Eared Macaque.

Guan Bo transformed into his true panda form and asked, "Can you hear me now?"

Six-Eared Macaque: "..."

"Six-Eared Macaque, you idiot, you're about to die and you're still causing trouble. Are you mentally ill? Go home and take your medicine!" Guan Bo shouted again.

Six-Eared Macaque: "..."

Guan Bo decisively transformed back into human form and said, "I believe you. You can read human lips, but you can't read panda lips."

The six-eared macaque asked in confusion, "What did you just say?"

"I told you you're incredibly lucky, you'll definitely be fine." Guan Bo lied without hesitation.

"Even if I can't hear you, I know you're lying," the Six-Eared Macaque said, rolling his eyes.

"Alright, let's not dwell on these details," Guan Bo said, waving his hand.

The Six-Eared Macaque had considered every possible method in the world, but he was unsure about Guan Bo's approach. He thought it might be a solution, so he came.

With the intention of causing trouble if Guan Bo didn't help, the Six-Eared Macaque has now given up entirely.

Guan Bo was speechless at this reason. "Brother, your memories are too heavy, and you can't forget them. Now you're suffering from mental exhaustion, and you're asking me for help. I'm not a hypnotist, a memory expert, or even a neurosurgeon. How can I help you?"

"Brother Liu Er, wait a moment, I'll be right back." A black and white lotus flower appeared beneath Guan Bo's feet, carrying him to the laboratory.

This speed was lightning fast; they arrived in the blink of an eye.

They found Shiyu, who had transformed into a little girl and was busy conducting various experiments. Guan Bo told Shiyu about the Six-Eared Macaque and hoped she could help come up with a solution.

I initially thought it would take at least three to five days to come up with a solution, or even three to five years. But as long as I could come up with an explanation to keep the Six-Eared Macaque calm, I could get him to tell me the secret first.

As for whether the Six-Eared Macaque can be saved in the future, we'll see.

"In that case, I need to give you a check-up first. Come on, lie down," Shi Yu said, pulling the Six-Eared Macaque to a metal hospital bed.

The Six-Eared Macaque lay down without hesitation, not at all afraid of any schemes or tricks Shi Yu might have. In the Six-Eared Macaque's view, his body was almost indestructible, and even if Guan Bo wanted to ambush him, he wouldn't be able to succeed easily.
