Chapter 500 The True and False Monkey King

Guan Bo greeted guests with a smile on his face. After all, Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, was his idol in his past life and his benefactor in this life.

This senior brother, whom he couldn't speak of, had helped him a great deal, and to this day he has nothing to repay him with.

However, when Guan Bo flew a hundred miles away to meet him, he saw a scene that left him dumbfounded.

Two monkeys, each wielding a golden cudgel, were facing off. From their physique and demeanor to even the distribution of monkey hair on their faces, the two were exactly the same.

"I must say, you've really broadened my horizons. You have the guts to impersonate me, and do it so well. It's truly rare," said the monkey on the left.

"I was just about to say that, but you snatched it away. You even imitated the same tone perfectly. You really went to a lot of trouble," the monkey on the right sneered.

Guan Bo rubbed his eyes and looked again, but they were still two identical monkeys, and he couldn't tell the difference at all.

In Journey to the West, it seems that only one monster has such abilities—the Six-Eared Macaque.

This was a powerful figure who could fight the Monkey King to a standstill and had deceived countless people. Thinking of this, Guan Bo suddenly shouted, "Six-Eared Macaque, I've seen through your true form! Surrender now!"

The two monkeys turned their heads at the same time, looked at Guan Bo with the exact same expression, and then said in unison, "You know the origin of this monster?! Tell us quickly!"

Guan Bo: "..."

Sure enough, TV dramas are all lies. Who said that calling out a conman's identity would scare him out of his trap?

Guan Bo was not the Buddha, after all, and did not have the ability to make the Six-Eared Macaque helpless. It would have been better if he hadn't shouted; now that he had spoken, he was captured by the two monkey brothers.

"You know this monster's background, why don't you make him reveal himself?"

"Even with my sharp eyes, I couldn't see any flaws. How did you figure it out?"

"You're selling counterfeit goods!"

"You are the fake!"

……

After a struggle, it was fortunate that Guan Bo had thick skin; otherwise, an ordinary monster would have been torn in two by the two excited monkey brothers long ago.

Seeing that Guan Bo couldn't give a coherent explanation, the two monkeys became enraged and, without anyone knowing who started it, began to fight back and forth.

The two golden cudgels shone brightly, and each clash produced a sound that reverberated for miles, tearing apart the clouds in the sky.

The real and fake Monkey Kings were nearly identical in skill, their somersaults and cloud-like movements making it impossible to tell who was faster. They tangled and fought fiercely, creating quite a spectacle. Guan Bo only watched for a short while before losing all sense of direction, seeing only the Monkey King in everyone's eyes.

"Stop! Calm down!" Guan Bo roared, and the three-colored divine fire transformed into a blazing curtain of fire, separating the two monkey brothers.

"What, you recognized him as the Six-Eared Macaque?" the monkey on the right asked.

"Pah! You're the one with six ears! Watch me tear your fake ears off!" the Monkey King on the left cursed.

Seeing that the two were about to start fighting again, Guan Bo quickly stepped in between them and said, "Please calm down, gentlemen, and allow me to ask a question first."

Upon hearing this, the two monkeys temporarily stopped fighting and both looked at Guan Bo.

"What do you want to ask? Can you prove that I'm real?"

"Fake goods, how dare they deceive people?!"

……

They argued so much that they almost came to blows again.

Guan Bo felt immense pressure and shouted, "Monkey King's golden cudgel can change size and thickness at will; it is a unique and irreplaceable weapon. Whoever can change the size of their cudgel at will is the true Great Sage."

This was the only solution Guan Bo could think of. After all, it was clearly written in the original work that the Six-Eared Macaque and the Great Sage Equal to Heaven were equally capable, and even when Tang Sanzang recited the Tightening-Headband Mantra, both of them would get a headache.

One of them was obviously faking it, but to be able to fake it so convincingly shows he's definitely an Oscar-worthy actor.

Even if they attacked the Heavenly Court, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference using magical treasures and supernatural powers like the Demon-Revealing Mirror and the Thousand-Mile Eye, so Guan Bo didn't waste time trying to distinguish it himself.

But Guan Bo knew that the Golden Cudgel was absolutely unique in Journey to the West, and such a treasure was impossible to imitate. You could probably forge a magical weapon with a similar hardness and weight to the Golden Cudgel, but how could you replicate its ability to change size at will?

Guan Bo once possessed a magical weapon that could change size at will, but it was absolutely impossible for him to use it to imitate the Golden Cudgel. Just in terms of size alone, Guan Bo's magical weapon had its limits, unlike the Golden Cudgel which could grow almost infinitely.

Guan Bo originally thought that the Six-Eared Macaque would definitely refuse after he proposed this method. But to his surprise, the two monkeys slammed their sticks into the ground without saying a word.

"Long, long, long, long, long, long, long..."

"Long, long, long, long, long, long, long..."

The two monkeys spoke in unison, and two golden sticks began to grow wildly, reaching into the clouds almost in the blink of an eye.

Guan Bo had no choice but to fly to a higher point in the sky, only to find that the two sticks were still getting longer, as if they were going to poke a hole in the sky.

Guan Bo tried tapping the two sticks; they had the same feel and the same echo. He even conjured a halberd and struck the sticks a few times, but they remained completely undamaged.

"Are you kidding me? Even the magic weapons are the same. This doesn't make sense!" Guan Bo said in surprise.

If you look the same, then your transformation skills are impressive; if your expressions and movements are the same, then your acting skills are impressive; if you fight to a standstill, then your cultivation is impressive; but damn it, even your magic weapons are the same, does that mean this Six-Eared Macaque has impressive counterfeiting skills?

The counterfeit is so good that it's priced the same as the genuine product!

Guan Bo had no choice but to say to the two Monkey Kings, "Great Sages, please put away your supernatural powers. These treasures are also of similar quality."

The golden cudgel grew quickly and retracted even faster, returning to its original form in the blink of an eye, and the two monkeys started fighting again.

Guan Bo looked frustrated. It seemed like he really had to go to the Western Paradise to find the Buddha to figure it out.

"Something's not right, this is very wrong. The Six-Eared Macaque was one of the obstacles hindering Tang Sanzang's journey to the West. But now that Brother Monkey is a guest in my Great Zhou, why isn't he bothering Tang Sanzang? Why is he making trouble for Brother Monkey at my doorstep? This really doesn't make sense." Guan Bo was filled with doubt and couldn't figure out what the Six-Eared Macaque was up to.

However, the fact that these two were hitting them didn't stop Guan Bo from speaking.

Guan Bo thought for a moment, then simply asked, "Brother Monkey, where was the first time we met?"

"On Black Wind Mountain!" the two monkeys exclaimed in unison.

After answering, one of the monkeys was accidentally struck by the cudgel and smashed onto a small mountain, shattering its peak. But soon, a flash of golden light appeared, and the monkey who had the slight advantage was also sent flying far away by the suddenly lengthened cudgel, destroying a section of the forest.

"Then, what did you feed me?" Guan Bo asked again.

"The Queen Mother's Peaches of Immortality." The voices were still spoken in unison, without the slightest difference. However, their sounds were drowned out by the loud clang of the sticks clashing, and Guan Bo almost couldn't hear them clearly.

"Then why did you treat me to peaches?"

This time, they didn't all speak at the same time. One of them said, "Because you sing terribly!"

The other said, "If I don't shut you up, I, Old Sun, will be driven crazy by your noise."

Guan Bo was at a loss. Even the Six-Eared Macaque knew about this, so there was no point in asking any further questions.

It seems there's really no way to tell the difference. But if we leave it alone and let them continue fighting, they might flatten the entire area for hundreds of miles around. This is the territory of the Great Zhou Dynasty. Even if it's a desolate place with a small population, we can't let them continue like this.

Left with no other option, Guan Bo had to do the opposite and asked, "Then let me ask that Six-Eared Macaque, why do you keep impersonating the Monkey King?"

Neither of the two monkeys made a sound; they just kept hitting each other, determined to beat the other out of his monkey brain.

Guan Bo ignored him and continued talking to himself, "Brother Six Ears, I don't know what you're asking for, but if you need anything, feel free to speak up. Although I, Guan Bo, can't say I'm the only one who matters in heaven and earth, I can speak with authority in the human realm, the underworld, Mount Ling, and even the Queen Mother of the West. If you have any requests, I might be able to help you."

He thought that such empty words would have no effect, but to his surprise, as soon as he finished speaking, he saw one of the monkeys stop and fly in front of Guan Bo, saying, "Are you telling the truth?"

Guan Bo desperately tried to restrain the thousand galloping alpacas in his heart to prevent his face from showing an expression of utter disgust.

"Are you the Six-Eared Macaque?" Guan Bo asked, looking at the monkey in front of him who was still dressed as the "Great Sage Equal to Heaven."

“That’s right… Hey, Sun Wukong, you can fight later. I need to talk to this panda spirit first,” said the Six-Eared Macaque.

Monkey King was taken aback, and actually put away his staff, but his mouth didn't stop. "You fake, what tricks are you trying to pull? Now that you've been exposed, do you think Guan Bo will listen to you?"

The Six-Eared Macaque gave a disdainful look, then dashed towards Monkey King with lightning speed. Clang, clang, clang—another chaotic scuffle ensued.

Goodness, after spinning around three or five times, Guan Bo couldn't tell which one was which anymore.

This time, however, the Six-Eared Macaque once again stepped out of the battle and said to Guan Bo, "Now, do you know my abilities?"

Guan Bo was speechless. This guy was indeed formidable; it was impossible to defend against him. Monkey King seemed to have also noticed the problem, but he only glared at the Six-Eared Macaque with his eyes and did not continue to attack.

“Alright, Brother Liu, you’re impressive. Just tell me what you want me to do,” Guan Bo asked.

"What I'm asking for is very simple, yet also very complex; it's probably too complicated to explain in just a few words," said the Six-Eared Macaque.

"Brother Liu Er, if you don't explain clearly, I don't know what to do." Guan Bo was speechless. What kind of time is this, and you're still playing riddles?

Six-two macaques scratched his head and then said, "Actually, it's not that complicated. What I seek is immortality."

"Immortality?" Guan Bo was taken aback upon hearing this.

I never expected the Six-Eared Macaque to make such a request. For a Great Sage of the Demon Clan, lifespan is practically endless. As long as they don't court death, someone like Guan Bo has tens of thousands of years of lifespan left, so there's no question of seeking immortality.

Wait, could it be...

Guan Bo gave an awkward but polite smile and asked, "May I ask how long Brother Liu Er will live?"

The Six-Eared Macaque smiled bitterly and said, "You are indeed a clever monster. I have lived for 129,000 years. In 600 years, I will reach the end of the first Yuanhui, which will be my death day."
