Chapter Three: A Strange Figure in the Dark

Shangguan Yun wandered around the island for half a day, found some small berries, casually put one in his mouth, but it wasn't very tasty, it had a mix of sweet, sour, and bitter flavors, so he sighed and threw it aside.

They found some dry branches nearby, lit a campfire not far from the trees on the hillside, and brought over a bunch of branches to place next to it.

I remember learning a text about wilderness survival before. Over the years, he has also learned a lot about wilderness survival from his love for military affairs. Shangguan Yun believes that as long as he survives tonight, he will be rescued when a fishing boat passes by tomorrow.

After the campfire burned for a while, Shangguan Yun moved the fire and spread the fresh branches and leaves flat on the hot ground. Soon, bursts of heat rose up, and after cooling for a while, the fresh branches and leaves were dried.

"Hehe... This is really great! Such a pleasant desert island survival project, awesome! I'll take a nap first, mmm... so comfortable." Before long, a wave of fatigue washed over him.

Shangguan Yun was exhausted. He had spent the whole day playing paintball yesterday, had a bonfire party in the evening, and then endured a whole day of rough seas today. Even a tough guy like him would break down. A few moments later, the sound of snoring came from the hillside... The boy was sleeping soundly...

The sea breeze blew by, and the campfire slowly dimmed. Shangguan Yun had originally planned to add more firewood in the middle of the night, but he was too tired and fell into a deep sleep.

Suddenly, something strange happened... Two black figures slowly approached from the bottom of the hillside. The elusive figures were like ghosts, sometimes moving left and sometimes right.

Gazing at the dimly lit campfire on the hillside, one man's eyes gleamed, and a smug smile played on his lips as he slowly approached Shangguan, who was fast asleep under the tree.

"Crackling...rolling, whooshing...ah..." Shangguan Yun suddenly woke up.

This was a warning signal he had set; he knew he had to be extremely vigilant at all times when sleeping in such a place.

Not only did he need to light a campfire, but he also needed to set up a warning line, using nearby dry branches and stones to set up a few dozen meters away from himself.

Shangguan Yun felt a sudden sense of alarm. Before he could even leap up, he grabbed a wooden stick from beside him and swung it toward the source of the sound.

At the same time, he scrambled up, grabbed a stone, and quickly dodged behind a tree.

He shouted, "Who is it? Are you a person or a ghost? I see you! Come out now or I won't be polite!" His eyes were fixed on the hillside a dozen meters away.

"Hey, stop hitting me! I'm a person!" The voice was rough and deep, sounding familiar. Shangguan Yun was taken aback.

"Hey, buddy over there, is that Brother Ban (Li Dechao)?" Shangguan Yun shouted.

"Ah? Yes, yes, you are... Shangguan, oh dear, come help me quickly... Waaah... Sister Zhu is injured, ouch..." Ban Ge's scream came out.

Shangguan Yun's body stiffened suddenly. He immediately reacted and rushed down the hillside. He saw that Brother Ban was limping with blood streaming from his head, and Sister Zhu was unsteady on her feet, being supported by Li Dechao.

They quickly helped them to the fire, added some branches, and used the firelight to observe their injuries.

Brother Ban was alright; he was tough and only suffered superficial injuries. The head injury was from a blow Shangguan Yun had given him earlier. "Shangguan, you're ruthless! Look at that blow! You're beating me like a bear!" Brother Ban said with a wry smile.

"Hehe, sorry, you guys woke me up. This is a desolate place, full of dangers, so I naturally didn't know my limits when I made a move," Shangguan Yun said awkwardly.

"It's alright, I feel at ease seeing you. It's just that Sister Zhu injured her leg, it might be broken, and she also has a fever. I don't have any medicine, I don't know what to do. Shangguan, you have a lot of ideas, please think of a solution quickly." Brother Ban looked at Shangguan Yun with a worried expression.

"Hmm, let me see, sister... how are you? It's me, Shangguan..." After calling for a long time, Sister Zhu slowly woke up.

"Ugh... hiss... ah... I think my leg is broken. Little brother, you're still alive. It's so good to see you." Zhu Yanping was covered in sweat, his lips were blue, and he was extremely exhausted.

"Sister, bear with it for a bit, I'll fix your leg. It might hurt a little, Brother Ban, can you help me?" Shangguan Yun casually picked up a few straight tree branches about the thickness of a thumb. Sister Zhu leaned against Brother Ban and began to perform simple bone setting.

Sister Zhu was quite tough; she held back her tears, though they welled up in her eyes.

Half an hour later, after eating some berries, Sister Zhu felt much better and her legs didn't hurt as much. Soon she lay down on the tree branch and fell into a deep sleep.

"Shangguan, what kind of fruit is this? It's so astringent, my tongue is numb. Is it poisonous?" Ban Ge was extremely embarrassed.

"Alright, it's not poisonous, so eat it without worry. With me, the all-knowing scholar of the martial arts world, here, you still don't feel at ease? Tell me, how did you find this place...?"

Ban Ge wiped his mouth, patted his clothes, felt a lump in his throat, and looked up at the sky. "Don't even mention it, it was so miserable. I swam in the sea for hours and only managed to drift here by grabbing onto a piece of wood."

And then there's Sister Zhu. When I saw her, she was lying on the beach, covered in crabs and wrapped in seaweed... It was so pitiful..." Shangguan Yun frowned, nodding in agreement from time to time...

Li Dechao talked non-stop, and when he mentioned that his life was hanging by a thread, Shangguan Yun broke out in a cold sweat. Really, how come I never realized that Brother Ban was so talkative before? He's a real talent!

According to Brother Ban, a fierce storm raged that day, with thunder and lightning, and everyone thought it was the end of the world. When Shangguan Yun was struck by a golden lightning bolt, everyone thought he was doomed.

Unexpectedly, I was suddenly swept into a strange whirlpool, and it seemed that the ship of Class Two in the distance was also pulled in, followed by dizziness.

After an unknown amount of time, he woke up to find himself floating on the sea, holding a piece of wood in his arms. He had learned to swim before, and he swam with the waves to this island.

As soon as we arrived on the island, we saw Sister Zhu lying unconscious on the beach. We found that she was still breathing, so we dragged her to the sand. After she vomited some water and woke up, we learned that she had broken her bones.

The two limped across most of the island but didn't find a single person.

As soon as it got dark, Sister Zhu was too tired to walk any further, so she rested on the beach. Brother Ban, who weighs over 180 pounds, also found it difficult to carry her, so the two decided to rest on the beach and wait for dawn.

After surveying the terrain, Brother Ban suddenly spotted a fire in the distance. Overjoyed, he led Sister Zhu and painstakingly made their way towards the fire.

After overcoming numerous hardships, they finally found a source of fire, but unexpectedly, they were hit with a club as soon as they showed themselves. The boardman was extremely frustrated.

"Hahaha..." Shangguan Yun couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"Luckily we met up. Don't be afraid. There will definitely be fishing boats passing by tomorrow morning. I estimate we'll still be stranded on some island near Laolongtou," Shangguan Yun said.

Brother Ban shook his head. "Not necessarily. Sister Zhu and I have been wandering around the island for half a day, and we haven't found a single person on the island or anywhere nearby."

Around dusk, it seemed like there were warships passing by in the distance on the other side of the island, but I didn't see any ships searching for us. I think we've probably drifted quite far away."

"Hmm...that makes sense. I didn't expect Brother Ban to be so meticulous despite his rough exterior. So where exactly are we now?" Shangguan Yun frowned, his brows furrowing into a deep frown.

"Never mind him, let's get some sleep first, recharge our energy, and treat it as wilderness survival training, hehe..." Shangguan Yun said.

"Okay, but Sister Zhu needs to see a doctor tomorrow, and it would be best if she got an IV drip first. I think she has a fever," Brother Ban said, frowning.

"Okay, come on, let's make a fire. I'll teach you how to make a warm bed in the wild, hehe, like this..."
