Rebirth of Jinxuan
Chapter 17 The Child's Power Shocks the Evil Man
He raised his dagger and viciously stabbed at Lu Yuhang. Lu Yuhang, however, seemed oblivious to the danger, still squatting on the ground, tightly holding the two little beasts in his arms, gently comforting them. Xiao Wu and Xiao Ba trembled in his arms, and blood was still flowing from Xiao Ba's leg, staining Lu Yuhang's clothes red.
"Third brother, you can't even handle a little brat?" A rough voice rang out, tinged with sarcasm. Yun Laosan paused, turning to look at the newcomer. It was their leader, a burly man with a face full of scars and a robust build.
The eldest brother walked up to Yun Laosan, glanced at him sideways, and scoffed, "Useless!" He reached out to push Lu Yuhang away and snatched the two little beasts away.
Just then, a sudden change occurred. A blur of green flashed past, so fast it was almost invisible. With a soft "plop," before Yun Laosan could react, a thin line of blood appeared on his neck. His eyes widened in disbelief as he clutched his neck, blood gushing from between his fingers. He staggered a few steps, then collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Everything happened so fast that everyone present was stunned. Lu Yuhang remained crouched, seemingly oblivious to what was happening around him. The two little beasts in his arms stopped trembling and curiously poked their heads out, looking at Yun Laosan lying on the ground.
The eldest brother was the first to react. He stared in horror at Yun Laosan lying in a pool of blood, then at Qing Yuan standing to the side, his face turning deathly pale. He never imagined that this seemingly gentle and weak woman would possess such terrifying skills.
Qingyuan stood there expressionless, holding a short sword in her hand, the blade still stained with blood. She glanced coldly at the leader, her tone icy, "Anyone who dares to touch him dies."
The leader took a step back in fright, pointed at Qingyuan, and stammered, "Who...who are you?"
Qingyuan did not answer, but stood quietly beside Lu Yuhang, like a guardian deity, protecting him from any harm.
Not far away, Lu Jinxuan and Mo Chenfan also witnessed this scene. Lu Jinxuan was startled and quickly ran over, picked Lu Yuhang up from the ground, and carefully checked him over. Only after confirming that he was alright did she breathe a sigh of relief.
"Hang'er, are you alright?" Lu Jinxuan asked worriedly.
Lu Yuhang shook his head, pointed at Yun Laosan on the ground, and said in a childish voice, "Mom, he hurt Xiao Ba."
Lu Jinxuan looked in the direction Lu Yuhang was pointing and then noticed that Yun Laosan was lying in a pool of blood. She was shocked and quickly looked at Qing Yuan, her eyes full of questions.
Qing Yuan nodded slightly to Lu Jinxuan as a greeting. Then, she turned her gaze to the thugs who were still standing there, her tone icy, "Anyone else?"
The leader looked at Yun Laosan lying on the ground, then at the imposing Qing Yuan, and was filled with fear. He gritted his teeth and shouted to his men behind him, "Attack them all! Kill them!"
Led by their leader, the thugs drew their weapons and rushed towards Lu Jinxuan and Qingyuan... "Wait," Lu Jinxuan suddenly said, "Leave one alive."
Led by their leader, the thugs swarmed towards Lu Jinxuan and her group like hungry wolves pouncing on their prey. Qing Yuan's figure flashed, weaving through the crowd like a ghost. A cold glint appeared, followed by screams of agony. The short sword in her hand was like the scythe of death, each swing claiming a life.
Seeing that Qing Yuan was ruthless and left almost no survivors, Lu Jinxuan was anxious and shouted again, "Leave one alive!"
Qingyuan paused slightly, her sword tip resting on the throat of a thug. The man was already terrified, slumped to the ground, his crotch wet and emitting a foul stench.
Seeing this, the other thugs stopped and stared at Qing Yuan in terror, not daring to utter a sound. The leader was especially terrified, his face turning deathly pale and his whole body trembling. He never imagined that this seemingly weak woman would be so powerful; she was practically a killing machine!
Seeing the bloody scene, Mo Chenfan quickly covered Lu Yuhang's eyes and said softly, "Hang'er, don't look."
Lu Yuhang pulled Mo Chenfan's hand away, his eyes calm and showing no fear. He looked at the thug lying in a pool of blood and said in a flat tone, "Uncle Mo, I'm not afraid."
Mo Chenfan was somewhat surprised. This child, at such a young age, was incredibly brave, remaining completely unfazed by such a bloody scene. He couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you afraid of blood? Aren't you afraid of corpses?"
Lu Yuhang shook his head and said in a childish voice, "Don't be afraid. Mother said that everyone dies and becomes a corpse. Xiao Wu and Xiao Ba have killed rabbits before. When the rabbits died, we ate them too."
Mo Chenfan's heart skipped a beat. Although the child's words were innocent, they carried a cruel undertone. Just as he was about to say something, Lu Yuhang continued, "Sister Qingyuan said that humans and animals are the same; they can be eaten, and they can be eaten."
Upon hearing this, Mo Chenfan was startled and turned to look at Qing Yuan. Qing Yuan remained standing there expressionless, the blood-dripping short sword in her hand gleaming with a chilling light in the sunlight.
Seeing that Qing Yuan had stopped, the eldest brother thought he had a chance to live, so he immediately knelt on the ground, kowtowed and begged for mercy, saying, "Heroine, spare my life! I was blind and didn't recognize your greatness. I offended you. Please, heroine, have mercy and spare my life!"
Qingyuan gave him a cold look and said in an icy tone, "Who sent you?"
The eldest brother dared not hide anything and quickly spilled the beans, revealing the mastermind behind it all: "It's...it's Master Li! He gave us the silver and told us to rob him..."
Before he could finish speaking, Qingyuan's short sword had already slit his throat. Blood gushed out, the leader's eyes widened, and he collapsed to the ground, dead.
Seeing this, Lu Jinxuan sighed inwardly; it seemed she wouldn't get any information out of her. She walked to Qingyuan's side and asked in a low voice, "Why didn't you leave any survivors?"
Qingyuan glanced at her indifferently and said, "If you don't cut the weeds at the root, they will grow back in the spring breeze."
Lu Jinxuan was about to say something more when she saw Lu Yuhang tugging at Mo Chenfan's sleeve, tilting his head up, and asking in a childish voice, "Uncle Mo, can people really be eaten?"
Mo Chenfan looked down into Lu Yuhang's innocent eyes, speechless for a moment, unsure how to answer the question. After a long while, he managed a weak smile and said, "Hang'er, people can't be eaten."
"Why?" Lu Yuhang tilted his head, looking puzzled. "Sister Qingyuan said that people and animals are the same; they can eat and they can be eaten."
Mo Chenfan was startled and turned to look at Qing Yuan. Qing Yuan stood there expressionless, the blood-dripping dagger in her hand gleaming chillingly in the sunlight. He took a deep breath, suppressing his anger, and asked as calmly as possible, "Miss Qing Yuan, why did you say such things to the child?"
Qingyuan glanced at him indifferently and said, "I'm just telling the truth."
"Tell the truth?" Mo Chenfan's tone was tinged with sarcasm. "Have you really eaten people?"
Qingyuan did not answer, but remained silent.
Mo Chenfan was deeply dissatisfied with Qing Yuan. He felt that Qing Yuan's thinking was too extreme, instilling such cruel ideas in a child. He was about to ask further questions when Lu Jinxuan interrupted him.
“Hang’er, Uncle Mo is right, people shouldn’t be eaten.” Lu Jinxuan walked to Lu Yuhang’s side and gently stroked his little head. “We are different from animals. We have feelings. We can’t hurt life at will.”
Lu Yuhang nodded as if he understood, then turned to look at the surviving thug who was slumped on the ground, trembling all over, and asked, "What about him? Can he be eaten?"
Following Lu Yuhang's gaze, Lu Jinxuan saw that the thug was already terrified, his crotch wet and emitting a foul stench. She sighed inwardly, walked up to him, squatted down, and softly asked, "Who sent you?"
The thug was already terrified and could only stare blankly at Lu Jinxuan, muttering something incoherently. Seeing that she couldn't get anything out of him, Lu Jinxuan turned to Ai Xi and said, "Ai Xi, protect me."
Ai Xi nodded, walked behind Lu Jinxuan, and warily observed their surroundings. Lu Jinxuan closed her eyes, sent a wisp of her spiritual energy into the thug's mind, and began searching his memories.
The thug's memory was a jumbled mess, filled with fear and despair. Lu Jinxuan patiently pieced together his memories and finally found some useful information. It turned out that these thugs were hired by a man named Li Yuanwai, with the aim of stealing the jade pendant from Lu Jinxuan.
Lu Jinxuan continued to probe deeper with her spiritual power, trying to find out more information about Master Li. Suddenly, a powerful surge of spiritual energy rebounded, jolting her back. Lu Jinxuan let out a muffled groan, her face slightly pale.
"Your Highness, are you alright?" Ai Xi asked with concern.
Lu Jinxuan shook her head and said, "It's nothing, it's just that this person's spiritual power is a bit strange, and I can't detect it."
"Should I..." Ai Xi made a throat-slitting gesture.
Lu Jinxuan pondered for a moment, then shook her head and said, "Let's keep him for now; he might still be useful."
At this moment, Lu Yuhang's voice rang out again: "Uncle Mo, you still haven't told me what the difference is between humans and animals?"
Looking into Lu Yuhang's sincere eyes, Mo Chenfan felt a mix of emotions. He opened his mouth, but didn't know how to answer the question... Ai Xi slowly raised her hand, a ball of eerie blue light gathering in her palm...
A flash of eerie blue light appeared in Ai Xi's palm, and the surviving thug let out a short, muffled groan before falling completely silent. His contorted face gradually calmed down, as if he had simply fallen asleep. Lu Jinxuan withdrew her gaze, her wariness of Master Li growing even stronger. This man, capable of manipulating mental energy, was no ordinary person.
"Let's go." Lu Jinxuan gently patted Lu Yuhang's head. "Let's go home."
Lu Yuhang remained motionless, staring at the corpse on the ground, his eyes filled with doubt. He turned to Mo Chenfan again and asked persistently, "Uncle Mo, you still haven't told me, what is the difference between humans and animals?"
Mo Chenfan took a deep breath, feeling a wave of helplessness. How could he explain this to a child? Should he tell him that humans have thoughts, morals, and laws, while animals don't? However, under Qing Yuan's influence, Lu Yuhang's worldview seemed different from ordinary people. In his eyes, the world was perhaps only about the survival of the fittest.
“Hang’er,” Lu Jinxuan squatted down and looked at Lu Yuhang tenderly, “the biggest difference between humans and animals lies in their hearts. We humans have love, compassion, and we think about others, while animals…” She paused, unsure how to continue explaining.
“Mother,” Lu Yuhang interrupted Lu Jinxuan, “Sister Qingyuan said that compassion is a sign of weakness, and only the strong do not need compassion.”
Lu Jinxuan's heart skipped a beat. Qingyuan's ideas had a deeper influence on Lu Yuhang than she had imagined. She had to correct Lu Yuhang's views as soon as possible, or the consequences would be unimaginable.
“Hang’er,” Lu Jinxuan said firmly, “Sister Qingyuan is wrong. Compassion is not a sign of weakness, but a choice of the strong. A true strong person not only possesses great strength, but also a kind heart.”
Lu Yuhang nodded as if he understood, but his eyes still held a hint of confusion. He looked at the corpse on the ground, then at Lu Jinxuan, seemingly deep in thought.
Mo Chenfan looked at Lu Yuhang, his heart filled with worry. He knew that Lu Jinxuan's words couldn't completely erase Qingyuan's influence on Lu Yuhang. This child needed more time and guidance to truly understand the difference between humans and animals, and to grasp the true meaning of compassion.
Lu Jinxuan stood up, took Lu Yuhang's hand, and said, "Let's go see Doctor Lu first."
The group silently followed behind Lu Jinxuan, heading towards the Lu Family Medical Clinic. The setting sun cast long, dappled shadows on the ground.
After walking for a while, Lu Yuhang suddenly stopped, pointed to a patch of shadow on the ground, and said, "Mother, the little beast wants to eat here."
Lu Jinxuan was startled. Following Lu Yuhang's finger, she realized that the shadowy area was where the body of the thug Qing Yuan had killed earlier lay. "Hang'er," Mo Chenfan quickly said, "You can't eat people..."
Before he could finish speaking, Lu Yuhang turned to look at him, a strange light flashing in his eyes... "The little beast is hungry," Lu Yuhang licked his lips, his voice childish yet carrying a chilling undertone.
