Rebirth of Jinxuan

Chapter 16 First Encounter with an Enemy: The Young One Emerges

Mo Chenfan was startled and almost instinctively turned around, drawing his longsword and pointing it at the source of the sound. At the alley entrance, a slender figure slowly emerged, moonlight pouring down to illuminate her slightly flustered face—it was Ai Xi!

"Ai Xi? What are you doing here?" Mo Chenfan breathed a sigh of relief, turned his sword, and sheathed it.

Ai Xi patted her chest and said coquettishly, "You scared me to death! Young master, why did you suddenly draw your sword?"

Lu Jinxuan frowned slightly, turned to look at Lu Yuhang, and asked softly, "Hang'er, did you notice anything just now?"

Lu Yuhang nodded, his childish voice revealing a maturity beyond his years: "Mother, I sensed someone approaching, but their presence was very faint, as if they were deliberately hiding."

Lu Jinxuan patted Lu Yuhang's head approvingly, thinking to herself: This child has a keen sense of perception. He has such talent at such a young age. Given time, he will surely achieve great things.

"Mother, is he a bad person?" Lu Yuhang looked up, his big, dark eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Before Lu Jinxuan could speak, a burst of laughter came from the alley entrance.

"Hahaha, where did this little brat come from, daring to call us bad people? Aren't you afraid of biting off more than you can chew!" A rough voice rang out at the alley entrance, followed by more than a dozen figures filing in, blocking the alley completely.

Leading the group were two middle-aged men dressed in close-fitting clothes, their auras calm and composed, clearly at the Spirit Master level. Behind them followed more than twenty burly men, all at the Spirit Practitioner level.

“Two Spirit Masters, and a dozen or so Spirit Practitioners…” Lu Jinxuan glanced at the newcomers, a hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes. “Their strength is rather weak, not very interesting.”

Hearing Lu Jinxuan's words, Mo Chenfan was startled. Could it be that these people were coming for them? But they were newcomers and shouldn't have offended anyone, right?

"Who are you? What do you want?" Mo Chenfan stepped forward, shielding Lu Jinxuan and Lu Yuhang behind him, and asked warily.

One of the men in the lead, a burly man with a face full of scars, glared fiercely at Mo Chenfan and sneered, "Kid, if you know what's good for you, hand over those two little beasts, or don't blame us for being impolite!"

As he spoke, the burly man pointed at Xiao Wu and Xiao Ba in Lu Yuhang's arms, his eyes filled with greed. "Hang'er, go try it." Lu Jinxuan gently nudged Lu Yuhang, gesturing for him to step forward.

Mo Chenfan panicked immediately, about to speak, but was stopped by a look from Lu Jinxuan. He was extremely anxious; these people clearly had ill intentions. Why would the Princess allow Yuhang to step forward? Wasn't this like throwing lambs to the slaughter?

Seeing this, Ai Xi secretly admired Lu Jinxuan's way of educating the prince, and at the same time believed that Qing Yuan would definitely protect the prince in secret. So she tugged at Mo Chenfan's sleeve, signaling him to calm down.

At Lu Jinxuan's signal, Lu Yuhang straightened his small frame and walked steadily to the group of burly men, cupping his hands in greeting and saying, "Hello, uncles, I am Lu Yuhang."

The sudden polite greeting caught the group of burly men, who were used to being arrogant and domineering, off guard. They looked at each other blankly, and no one responded.

Lu Yuhang wasn't annoyed. He simply stood there quietly, his gaze sweeping over the crowd before finally settling on the burly man at the head of the group.

The burly man felt a little uncomfortable under Lu Yuhang's clear gaze. He curled his lip and said in a gruff voice, "You little brat, don't try to fool me. If you know what's good for you, hand over your two little beasts, or else..."

Before he could finish speaking, Lu Jinxuan stopped him with a cold glare. Lu Jinxuan didn't speak, but simply patted Lu Yuhang's head gently, signaling him to continue.

Encouraged by Lu Jinxuan, Lu Yuhang felt a little more at ease. He looked directly at the burly man, his childish voice carrying an undeniable authority: "Uncle, my little animals are my friends, not beasts. Besides, they are mine, why should I give them to you?"

"You..." The big man was speechless. He had lived most of his life, but this was the first time he had been rendered speechless by a child.

"Third brother, go and snatch those two little beasts!" The other burly man in the lead couldn't stand it anymore and winked at a burly man behind him.

The burly man called "Third Brother" was somewhat reluctant, but under the pressure of his boss's authority, he had no choice but to step forward. He walked up to Lu Yuhang and said gruffly, "Kid, hand over your little beast right now, or don't blame me..."

"Uncle, you can borrow my little beast to play with for a while, but I can't give it to you," Lu Yuhang said before the big man could finish speaking.

"Play for a while?" Yun Laosan was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter as if he had heard a funny joke. "Kid, are you kidding me? What I want is your little beast, not just to play for a while!"

“In that case…” A sly glint flashed in Lu Yuhang’s eyes, “Then you can take it yourself.”

Seeing that Lu Yuhang refused to comply, Yun Laosan lost his patience. He rolled up his sleeves, grinned maliciously, and walked towards Lu Yuhang, saying as he went, "Kid, if you won't listen to reason, then don't blame me..." Before Yun Laosan could finish speaking, he was kicked in the backside by the leader behind him, who was called "Yu." "What are you dawdling for? Hurry up!" Yu waved his hand impatiently, as if shooing away a fly. Yun Laosan staggered a few steps, muttering, "Boss, be gentle...", and walked towards Lu Yuhang with a face full of reluctance.

He pointed his thick finger at the little beast in Lu Yuhang's arms, his tone domineering: "Kid, I'm asking you one last time, hand over the little beast!"

Before Lu Yuhang could speak, Xiao Ba in his arms seemed to sense danger, squirming restlessly and whimpering softly. The other little beast, Xiao Wu, clung tightly to Lu Yuhang, its large, watery eyes warily fixed on Yun Laosan.

"Uncle, you can borrow my little beast to play with for a while, but I can't give it to you." Lu Yuhang remained neither humble nor arrogant, repeating his previous words.

Yun Laosan clicked his tongue impatiently, grabbed Xiao Ba by the hind leg, and yanked it outwards with force. Xiao Ba cried out in pain, struggling desperately. Lu Yuhang's expression changed, and he quickly reached out to protect Xiao Ba, but he was too weak to stop Yun Laosan.

"Let it go!" Lu Yuhang's face turned red with anxiety, and tears welled up in his eyes.

Yun Laosan seemed not to hear him and continued to pull on Xiao Ba with all his might. Xiao Ba's cries grew more and more shrill, and Lu Yuhang's heart pounded with panic. Just when he was about to despair, Xiao Ba suddenly bit Yun Laosan's wrist.

"Ah!" Yun Laosan cried out in pain and instinctively let go. Xiao Ba took the opportunity to break free and hid in Lu Yuhang's arms, trembling.

Yun Laosan clutched his bleeding wrist, glaring at Lu Yuhang with a fierce glint in his eyes. He never imagined that this seemingly weak child would raise such a ferocious little beast.

Looking at the wound on Yun Laosan's wrist, Lu Yuhang felt a little scared, but more worried about Xiao Ba. He gently stroked Xiao Ba's fur and softly comforted him, "It's alright, it's alright, don't be afraid."

Xiao Wu also peeked out from Lu Yuhang's arms and rubbed its little head against Xiao Ba, seemingly comforting it as well.

Lu Yuhang crouched down, holding the two little beasts tightly in his arms, his eyes gradually turning cold. He raised his head, looked at Yun Laosan, and said in a chillingly calm tone, "You hurt my little beasts."

Yun Laosan was startled by Lu Yuhang's gaze. He felt that the child in front of him had suddenly become different; that look in his eyes didn't seem like that of a child. He shook his head, trying to clear this strange feeling from his mind, then drew a gleaming dagger from his waist... He grinned maliciously as he approached Lu Yuhang step by step, "You little brat, you dare to bite me! Today I'll..."
