Black Myth: The Legend of Tianpeng Seeking Demons

Chapter 5: The Truth Remains Shrouded in Mist, and Feelings Begin to Sprout

The moonlight was like water as Zhu Feifei and Bai Ruoxue stood in the woods, their eyes meeting. The footsteps and shouts coming from afar grew closer, and both knew they had to make a choice.

Zhu Feifei took a deep breath and decided to be honest: "Miss Bai, to be honest, I come from another world to complete a special mission. But right now, I'm more concerned about your safety."

A flicker of surprise crossed Bai Ruoxue's beautiful eyes, but she quickly regained her composure: "Are you telling the truth? Then why did you save me?"

Just then, the Ringwraith Little White's voice rang in Zhu Feifei's ear: "Idiot, don't forget your real mission!"

Zhu Feifei pursed her lips and replied in a low voice, "Xiaobai, now is not the time to talk about this."

He turned to Bai Ruoxue and said sincerely, "Because I saw you being chased, I couldn't bear it. Besides, you're suffering from a strange poison, and I want to help you."

Bai Ruoxue remained silent for a moment, seemingly weighing the pros and cons. Finally, she nodded: "Alright, I'll believe you for now. But you must tell me, who is hunting me, and why did they steal the 'White Bone Frost Palm' manual?"

Just as Zhu Feifei was about to answer, he suddenly felt dizzy. He knew this was a sign that he was about to transform.

"Oh no!" Zhu Feifei exclaimed inwardly and quickly took a few steps back.

Bai Ruoxue looked at him with a puzzled expression: "What's wrong with you?"

Just then, Zhu Feifei's face began to deform, growing a pig's nose and its ears becoming long and large.

Bai Ruoxue gasped in surprise, instinctively taking a step back, but quickly regained her composure: "So that's how it is, you're that... pig-headed monster?"

Zhu Feifei nodded awkwardly: "Yes, this is my... special ability. Sorry I startled you."

Surprisingly, Bai Ruoxue didn't show any disgust; instead, she revealed a hint of curiosity: "That's interesting. Can you control this change?"

Zhu Feifei smiled wryly, "I'm still learning. It happens whenever I get emotional or...eat too much."

Bai Ruoxue chuckled softly, a hint of tenderness flashing in her eyes: "I see. So, the one who saved me last night was actually you, wasn't it?"

Zhu Feifei nodded, about to speak, when the shouts from afar suddenly became clearer.

“We need to get out of here quickly,” Bai Ruoxue said, taking Zhu Feifei’s hand. “I know a safe place.”

The two quickly traversed the woods and arrived at a secluded cave. Inside, there were some simple daily necessities and medicine, clearly indicating that this was Bai Ruoxue's secret base.

After settling in, Bai Ruoxue began to tell Zhu Feifei about her ordeal. It turned out that she had discovered someone was secretly stealing the Bai family's martial arts manuals and suspected there was a traitor within the family. To uncover the truth, she pretended to go out to gather herbs, but in reality, she was conducting a covert investigation.

"So, the wooden box in your hand..." Zhu Feifei suddenly realized.

Bai Ruoxue nodded: "The manual inside is fake; I used it to lure the snake out of its hole."

Just then, Bai Ruoxue suddenly coughed violently, her face turning deathly pale. Zhu Feifei quickly supported her, asking with concern, "Are you alright? Has the poison taken effect?"

Bai Ruoxue shook her head weakly: "I'm fine, I'm used to it."

Zhu Feifei felt a pang of pain in his heart, remembering his nine-bead bracelet. He said softly, "Let me try to help ease your pain."

As he spoke, he took out a nine-bead bracelet and used his "healing magic" to treat Bai Ruoxue. A warm light enveloped Bai Ruoxue, and she felt the pain in her body slowly subside.

"Thank you," Bai Ruoxue said gratefully, a strange light flashing in her beautiful eyes.

Zhu Feifei smiled and said, "You're welcome. I promised to help you find the antidote, and I will."

Bai Ruoxue looked deeply at Zhu Feifei and said softly, "Do you know, you're the first person who's ever truly been good to me."

Zhu Feifei's heart stirred, and she was about to speak when she suddenly felt a strong urge to eat surge into her heart.

"Oh no!" he thought to himself, and quickly took a few steps back.

Bai Ruoxue looked at him suspiciously: "What's wrong with you now?"

Zhu Feifei explained awkwardly, "I...I'm a little hungry."

Bai Ruoxue suddenly understood and chuckled, "I see. Here's some dry rations, would you like some?"

Zhu Feifei hesitated for a moment, but finally accepted the dry rations and began to eat carefully. He was afraid that if he ate too much, he would turn into a pig's head and embarrass himself in front of Bai Ruoxue.

Watching Zhu Feifei wolf down her food, Bai Ruoxue couldn't help but smile. She said softly, "You're really interesting. You clearly have such a strong appetite, yet you always restrain yourself."

Zhu Feifei looked up at her and said shyly, "I...I don't want to look like a pig in front of you."

A hint of tenderness flashed in Bai Ruoxue's eyes: "Actually, you don't need to care so much. No matter what you become, you are still you."

Zhu Feifei felt a warmth in his heart and was about to speak when he suddenly felt dizzy. He looked down and realized that he was already 70% full, and pig hair was starting to grow on his face.

"Oh dear!" Zhu Feifei exclaimed, quickly covering her face.

Bai Ruoxue gently pulled his hand away and said softly, "It's alright, let me see."

Zhu Feifei hesitated for a moment, then finally put her hand down. Her face was covered in pig bristles, and her nose had become large and round.

Unexpectedly, Bai Ruoxue did not show any disgust. Instead, she gently stroked Zhu Feifei's face, her eyes filled with curiosity and tenderness.

“You know what? I think you’re cute even like this,” she said softly.

Zhu Feifei's heart skipped a beat, and she was about to speak when she suddenly heard footsteps coming from outside the cave.

The two exchanged a wary glance, and Zhu Feifei gestured for Bai Ruoxue to hide behind him. He quietly approached the cave entrance, preparing to meet the enemy.

Just then, a familiar voice came: "Ruoxue, are you here?"

Bai Ruoxue exclaimed in surprise, "It's my father!"

Zhu Feifei breathed a sigh of relief, but then tensed up again. How was he supposed to face Bai Tianyu in his current state?

At this critical moment, Bai Ruoxue suddenly grabbed Zhu Feifei's hand and whispered, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Zhu Feifei felt a warmth in his heart as he felt the warmth from his palm. He took a deep breath and decided to face it bravely.

The curtain at the cave entrance was lifted, and Bai Tianyu walked in. Seeing the scene before him, he was first stunned, then roared angrily, "Monster! Let go of my daughter!"

Bai Ruoxue quickly stepped in front of Zhu Feifei: "Father, you've misunderstood! He's my friend; he saved me!"

Bai Tianyu looked at Zhu Feifei suspiciously and asked in a deep voice, "Who exactly are you? Why have you become like this?"

Zhu Feifei took a deep breath and decided to be honest: "Master Bai, my name is Zhu Feifei, and I come from another world. My transformation is a special ability, not a demon's. I came here to complete a mission, but now, I hope even more to help Miss Bai detoxify."

Bai Tianyu remained silent for a moment, then suddenly sighed, "Fine, since Ruoxue trusts you, I won't ask any more questions. However, if you dare to hurt Ruoxue, I will never forgive you!"

Zhu Feifei nodded solemnly: "I swear on my life, I will never harm Miss Bai."

Bai Ruoxue looked at Zhu Feifei with emotion, a strange light flashing in her eyes.

Just then, Bai Tianyu suddenly said, "Ruoxue, now that you're alright, come back to the manor with me. Tomorrow is the day of the martial arts contest to choose a husband; you can't be absent."

Bai Ruoxue's expression changed: "Father, I told you I wouldn't participate!"

Bai Tianyu said sternly, "This is for your own good, and also for the sake of the Bai family. Don't be willful!"

Just as the father and daughter were about to argue, Zhu Feifei suddenly interjected, "Master Bai, how about I also participate in the martial arts contest to find a husband?"

Bai Ruoxue looked at Zhu Feifei in surprise, a hint of joy flashing in her eyes.

Bai Tianyu pondered for a moment, then nodded and said, "Alright, I'll let you try too. However, you'd better control your... special ability."

Zhu Feifei nodded solemnly: "I definitely will."

That evening, Zhu Feifei and Bai Ruoxue returned to Bai Family Village. Looking at Bai Ruoxue's tired yet still strong figure, Zhu Feifei secretly vowed to win the martial arts contest for marriage, not only to complete the mission but also to protect Bai Ruoxue.
