Black Myth: The Legend of Tianpeng Seeking Demons
Chapter 153 The Mystery of the Undercover Agent
"Cough cough cough..." Zhu Feifei crawled out of a pile of rubble, covered in dirt and dust, looking like she had been pulled out of a mud pit.
He rubbed his head, which was throbbing from the impact, and muttered, "What kind of fate is this? What sins did I commit in my past life!"
He looked up and saw the Queen of Jingjue not far away. Although she was also in a sorry state, her once gorgeous clothes were now covered in dust and blood, her eyes still exuded a cold and majestic aura.
"Your Majesty, are you alright?" Zhu Feifei asked hurriedly as she brushed the mud off her clothes, her voice filled with undisguised concern.
"I'm fine." Queen Jingjue raised her arm and gently smoothed her disheveled hair, trying her best to maintain her elegance, but the weariness in her tone betrayed her.
Standing at the entrance to the collapsed tomb passage, looking at the completely collapsed ruins behind them, Zhu Feifei sighed deeply: "I almost died here. It seems that I, Old Pig, am quite resilient, otherwise I would really be a piece of cured pork this time."
Queen Jingjue ignored his words, her brows furrowing slightly as she coldly said, "Don't be too happy yet. Although we've escaped, our situation remains difficult. Have you forgotten that we haven't been cured of our poison yet?"
Zhu Feifei was stunned for a moment, then slapped her thigh: "That's right! We're also poisoned! Your Majesty, how long will those herbs last?"
Queen Jingjue shook her head gently: "The effects of the medicine are almost gone. If we can't find a new antidote soon, we don't have much time left."
As soon as he finished speaking, a low laugh suddenly echoed in the air, so cold it sent chills down one's spine.
"Hehehe, looks like you guys aren't having an easy time!" A sinister voice came from behind.
Zhu Feifei and the Queen of Jingjue turned around at the same time, only to see Black Whirlwind, the leader of the Black Wind Bandits, leading a few remaining soldiers, having escaped from the ruins at some point. At this moment, he was looking at them with a sinister grin.
"You bunch of bastards!" Zhu Feifei gritted her teeth, raising her nine-toothed rake and pointing it directly at Black Whirlwind. "You're still alive!"
Black Whirlwind calmly dusted himself off, a playful smile playing on his lips: "Thanks to you, we really did have a near-death experience. But now that we've survived, we need to find a way out for ourselves."
His gaze slowly shifted to the Queen of Jingjue, a glint of greed flashing in his eyes: "It seems the path has been chosen—kill you all and seize the treasures of the ancient city of Jingjue!"
"Wishful thinking!" Zhu Feifei shouted, shielding the Queen of Jingjue behind him and gripping the Nine-Toothed Rake tightly with both hands.
Black Whirlwind sneered, his face full of contempt: "You? A piece of trash who only knows how to play with a rake? Brothers, let's go, take him down first!"
At his command, several henchmen charged forward with strange cries. Zhu Feifei gripped his rake tightly and charged forward, instantly engaging the Black Wind Bandits in a fierce battle.
Black Whirlwind didn't rush forward, but slowly took out a scroll from his robes. He called out, "Queen of Jingjue, you'd better take a look at this!"
The Queen of Jingjue frowned, cautiously took the scroll, and slowly opened it. Instantly, her face turned pale.
On the scroll, a line of large characters caught the eye: "Zhu Feifei - an undercover agent of the Heavenly Court, ordered to steal the exquisite treasure."
The Queen of Jingjue's fingers trembled slightly as she looked up from the scroll and fixed her gaze on Zhu Feifei, who was fighting fiercely. Her eyes were filled with complex emotions—doubt, anger, and a hint of barely perceptible disappointment.
"Your Majesty! Don't believe his nonsense!" Zhu Feifei gasped for breath, frantically wielding his rake to force back several henchmen. He shouted urgently, "This is absolutely fake! He made it up! I'm genuinely trying to help you!"
"Hmph, whether you're making it up or not, you know perfectly well!" Black Whirlwind sneered smugly. "Your Majesty, don't hesitate any longer. Killing this traitor will only harm you!"
The Queen of Jingjue remained silent, staring intently at Zhu Feifei. The doubt in her eyes made Zhu Feifei's heart sink.
“Your Majesty…” He took a deep breath, his voice low and firm, “I know you won’t believe me now, but I will prove my innocence with my actions!”
After saying that, he turned and rushed into the depths of the ancient city, his figure gradually disappearing into the dim ruins.
"Stop! Where are you going?" Queen Jingjue took a few steps after him, but then stopped.
"Let's go find the treasure!" Zhu Feifei's voice came from afar. "Once I find it, you'll understand everything!"
The Queen of Jingjue stood rooted to the spot, gripping the scroll tightly, a complex mix of emotions welling up within her. Her gaze followed the direction where Zhu Feifei had vanished, her lips trembling slightly, yet she remained silent.
Black Whirlwind sneered from the side: "What are you still hesitating about? He's an undercover agent sent by the Heavenly Court, can't you tell?"
"Shut up." The Queen of Jingjue turned around coldly, her voice icy. "My affairs are none of your business."
After saying that, she turned and walked towards the palace, her back view steady yet full of contradictions.
Zhu Feifei ran through the ruins of the ancient city, muttering to herself as she ran, "Oh my god, did I, Old Pig, owe her something in my past life? Prove my innocence? I have to go find treasure? Is finding treasure easy? I think I might as well just find a hole and bury myself!"
He looked down and saw a deep pit at his feet, with several rats peeking out of it.
"Pah! Pah! Pah! Even if your mouth were blessed, it wouldn't be this accurate!" Zhu Feifei jumped back in fright, grabbing a piece of gravel from the ground and throwing it into the pit. "You little mice, don't look at me! You won't even get a chance to eat me after I die!"
Not far away, Queen Jingjue was quietly following Zhu Feifei, taking advantage of her familiarity with the ancient city's terrain. Her steps were light, her expression complex, but her heart was filled with another kind of turmoil: "This idiot, could he really be a spy sent by the Heavenly Court? But he... his behavior doesn't seem like it."
Just as she was pondering to herself, Zhu Feifei suddenly stopped in her tracks, put her hands on her hips, and turned around angrily: "Hey, Your Majesty! Don't think I don't know you're following me! This time, I, Old Pig, am not running away. Just say what you have to say!"
Queen Jingjue paused for a moment, her face flushing slightly, but she quickly regained her cold expression and walked straight up to Zhu Feifei: "Since you know, then let me ask you. Zhu Feifei, do you dare to swear a solemn oath that you are absolutely not an undercover agent?"
Zhu Feifei grinned: "Swear a poisonous oath? I, Old Pig, haven't even been cured of this poison yet. If I swear another poisonous oath, wouldn't that be a double blow? We should be honest; these things require logic—"
"Enough with the nonsense!" Queen Jingjue glared at him. "I'll only ask you one question: were you sent by the Heavenly Court?"
Zhu Feifei scratched his head, his expression turning somewhat awkward: "Well... do you have to ask so directly? Fine, I'll tell you then, I do have some connections with the Heavenly Court—but I really wasn't sent to steal your treasure!"
"Oh? Then who exactly are you?" The Queen of Jingjue crossed her arms and stared at him sharply.
Zhu Feifei rubbed his hands together and chuckled awkwardly, "I, Old Pig, am actually just an unemployed celestial soldier. The Heavenly Court laid off staff, and I was laid off. Now I'm here in the mortal world begging for food, and incidentally, I'm also playing the hero and rescuing damsels in distress—to be honest, my service is pretty thorough, isn't it?"
The Queen of Jingjue was so angry she wanted to laugh, but she knew she couldn't. She gritted her teeth and said, "You really dare to flatter yourself! So, according to you, you're currently doing an 'employment internship'?"
Zhu Feifei spread her hands, looking serious: "Yeah, I'm working so hard now just to accumulate some good karma so I can get a job again! Otherwise, the Heavenly Court could open up some re-employment positions, and I wouldn't have to be someone's shield every day!"
