When Henry returned to Valentine, he saw a large crowd gathered on the muddy main road outside the tavern, shouting excitedly things like "Kill him!" and "Slap him in the face!"

Henry also saw Bill, Javier, and Charles standing by watching the show.

Henry remembered something and squeezed into the crowd with Li Yi. Sure enough, they witnessed the famous scene of Arthur and the big guy Tommy fighting. At this moment, Arthur had just broken free from Tommy's chokehold from behind and hit Tommy a few times, but it didn't hurt Tommy's huge size. Soon, Tommy grabbed Arthur's head again and shoved him into the mud.

Arthur was helpless, given the vast difference in size. He could only take advantage of Tommy's momentary lapse in attention and unleash his famous groin kick, striking Tommy's groin and instantly turning the tables. He pinned Tommy to the ground and beat him senseless.

When Henry saw a familiar figure preparing to approach, he didn't want to take any risks. Who knew that at such close range, his droplets might land on Arthur's face, leading to a tragedy? He quickly spoke first:

"Arthur, that was a great boxing match. Give me some face and let this big guy go."

Hearing the familiar voice, Arthur stopped what he was doing. He shook his aching fist, then kicked Tommy again, throwing him to the ground in frustration.

"Of course, Henry, do you know this gorilla? I have to admit, this guy is really tough. He made my hand hurt from hitting him."

"I don't know him yet, but I think he's quite capable, and I plan to hire him as a guard at the tavern."

"Come on, you two have become friends through this misunderstanding. Help this big guy up and get him washed up. How about I treat you to a couple of drinks?"

Henry had Li Yi help Tommy up, and then led him and Arthur into the tavern. Seeing there was no more excitement to be seen, the crowd gradually dispersed.

"Is this your tavern?"

Arthur looked at the tavern they had wrecked, scratched his head, and said somewhat awkwardly.

“I’m sorry, Henry, I didn’t know this tavern was your property. We…we…it seems we’ve made a bit of a mess of it…it’s all that idiot Bill’s fault, he’s the one who caused all this trouble.”

Arthur turned his attention to Bill, who was trailing behind, and used loud shouts and curses to ease the awkwardness.

"Don't worry about it, Arthur. It's normal that you don't know. I just took over this place. I was planning to renovate it anyway, but I'm taking this opportunity to close for two days to prepare for reopening. Then you can enjoy those two delicious and cheap drinks from Blackwater Bar."

"That's really good news. To be honest, I really miss that wine, and those sweet and sour pork ribs."

After searching the tavern for a while without finding any intact chairs, the group simply stood in front of the bar and started drinking.

During the conversation, Henry also talked to Tommy about hiring, offering a monthly salary of $50 plus two free bottles of alcohol per day.

Tommy readily agreed. He didn't care about the money, as long as he got the drinks. He even clinked glasses with Arthur, which could be considered a truce and a reconciliation.

After Li Yi took Tommy to find Paul, Henry and Arthur talked about the Riodsco Clinic's smuggling of drugs and the exact location of the Six O'Clock cabin outpost.

This was partly to repay Arthur for letting Kieran go, and partly to retaliate against Sheriff Malloy for his previous cover-up, cutting off another source of his illicit income.

More importantly, he wanted the Van Gang to help eliminate the Au Gang's influence in the Valentine region for free, thus ensuring the safety of Henry's properties at Emerald Ranch.

Three birds with one stone.

Upon hearing such important information, Arthur forgot about drinking and returned to the camp with Bill, Javier, and Charles to discuss the plan with Dutch.

......

When Arthur returned to camp, Henry took Li Yi to a very important place and to meet a very important person—a kind-hearted man whom many people hated. This marked the beginning of Arthur's misfortune.

After seeing Downs in Valentine, Henry knew he couldn't delay any longer.

To be honest, Henry looked down on Thomas Downs. He was incompetent but tried to be a pushover. When he ran out of money, he even borrowed money at high interest rates to do charity work, completely disregarding the lives of his family.

Perhaps he knew he didn't have many days left to live and genuinely wanted to do as many good deeds as possible before he died. However, from Henry's perspective, which is somewhat dark, Towns's motivation was more about getting to heaven smoothly after death and being embraced by God. To put it bluntly, it was selfishness.

The two rode their horses at a fast pace and soon arrived at the location of Downs Ranch.

The surrounding environment is quite nice, surrounded by the Dakota River, with lush green grass covered in colorful wildflowers. There are also many sheep grazing in the pasture, and a decent cornfield has been cultivated next to the house.

Henry thought that Towns didn't seem to be broke. Perhaps he hadn't completely abandoned his family; he had left them some assets. But why did he borrow so much money from loan sharks? Did he naively believe that debts would be forgiven upon death? Didn't he even consider the kind of people who lent him the money?

Henry told Li Yi to take precautions and keep his distance from Towns as much as possible, especially to avoid getting his saliva on him.

After getting ready, Henry went up and knocked on the door.

The woman who opened the door was fairly attractive. She seemed somewhat nervous upon seeing Henry and his two robust men. She parted the door and asked:

"Sir, who are you looking for? If you're looking for my husband, he's not home. Perhaps you could try looking for him in town," Edith, Mrs. Downs, said somewhat nervously and awkwardly.

"Don't worry, madam, we're not here to cause trouble, nor are we here to collect debts from your husband. On the contrary, I might be able to help you resolve your current predicament. Could you ask your husband to come out and talk to us? I know he's inside; we came all the way from Valentine."

Henry decided it was better to be safe and not go in for too much contact, since in this day and age, contracting tuberculosis was a real threat, and no amount of caution was too much.

Henry's words reassured Edith somewhat, but she didn't completely trust him. While she was still pondering what to do, Downs in the room spoke up. He remembered Henry's voice; after all, he had heard it just that morning and it left a deep impression. Henry had even prevented a tragedy from happening before him.
